Hi guys just wondering if its possible to have different tones for various notifications like sms, emal etc or is it just one tone for everything.Thanks.
If you already have some music on your phone that you want to turn into tones/notifications etc, download Ringdroid from the market. Worked well for me!
thanks mate will give it a try
I've got the unbranded Desire from Carphone Warehouse.
On this device, if you go into gmail app, you can change the notification sound for just that app in the settings. The default choice is "use default [notification] sound", but you can chose others.
You can use any sound they just have to be in the right place.
On SD cards root make folders. Then they will show up when looking.
Alarms - For alarms obviously.
Notifications - For message tones.

I'm not sure if your question has been fully answered; but I was wondering the same thing. How to have a different tone for sms, emails, facebook etc.
I know some apps allow for this in their settings but I can only see one place for 'general notifications' and this applies to all types of notifications.

OK, got ChompSMS and now can uninstall SMSPopup as Chomp pretty much does the same thing. Great app.
Forgive me if this has been already answered as I was unable to locate an answer for this specific phone. Is there any way on our T-Mobile Galaxy S2s to have a different tone for each notification? I tried to change indivudually under each of the repective settings but no dice. 1 notification tone for all. Really? I hope there is a work around.
there's an App for that...
I use Rings Extended + RingDroid + Zedge, you can find them in the market free
then you can choose from a wide variety of alerts, music, mp3, or even make your own!
I got a similar question... How can I set my messages to vibrate only? I only get it to vibrate with a tone but I don't want that

set vibrate to always? (in settings > sound)
also you can do it independently for each App that you use, like SMS, Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, Gmail etc
each of them has their own separate settings

+1 I have been searching for something like that
Hello,
I'd like all of the people sending me text to have a general chime. I have to respond to my boss 24x7 so I need a very loud and distinct chime is there a way to do that?
Anyone know if this feature will be available in the next version of Android?
Apparently, Textra SMS (free, no ads) from the Play Store supports separate notifications, bubble colours and delivery reports by contact.

Thanks - I'll give it a try right now!

Just installed it - couldn't figure out how to set a specific sound notification for a specific text sender.
From any text from the specific person, click on settings. People & options, click on sound....choose any sound you desire for that user

I apologize - are you speaking about the default app or another text app such as Textra?
I'm in the default text app. I have a message string open from the person whose notification I want to change. I do not see a way to get to settings once I have the message string open.
Forgot, I'm using the messenger app. Many options available in that app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.messaging

Thanks - I just tested - unfortunately it doesn't seem to override the sound settings on the G3. I set my default app as messenger - not messaging (native) and it still uses the default sound for all even after I selected the user - people and options - sound.

The only thing I can find is you can go to the contact and make a certain ringtone or vibration for your boss.

Thanks - I guess it just didn't go into effect immediately or it didn't like the first sound I chose. It is working now! Very helpful!

Yes, it may have failed on my first test because of the sound I chose or because I still had the phone attached to my pc and the settings didn't take. Working now thanks.

Do you mean for the in-app sounds like when you like something? I keep those turned off, so can't help you there, but my Facebook notifications sound is my default sound and my Facebook Messenger sound I keep changed back to the old Facebook Pop sound they used to have it as. I did this in the system settings, not the apps, I believe.
yes when you go jnto facebook setting the push notification sound is "facebook" I want to change it but it doesn't

Where is the sound setting? I know I've found it before, but I can't find it now.
privacy and settings, settings, notifications, scroll down to Push, then sound

Thanks, I wasn't tapping on the Push button before to get to that page. All the tones are greyed out and you can choose a different one, but it doesn't stick, like you said. Weird.
I think it's a Facebook bug

Or a feature.
Facebook wants everyone to have the same tone. That way, its victims will all get a tiny dopamine rush when any of the phones around them have an alert. They then all check Facebook . I've seem it happen.
