[Q]Is there any way to control heat ? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any way to control the heating of my xperia play?

Ugh.. maybe setting down the power in a cpu app. I mean the clock. Set it on 1100 mhz and turn it off till its cooled down.

Get something cold and put it on the back of the phone like ice and it will stay cool that is what I do
Sent from my LT30p using xda app-developers app

Or you can keep your clock and just put your voltage down, I sit at 1.2ghz at 1000 mV. And I'm stable with no heat past 100°f

Yes definitely would not recommend doing that, the last thing u want is water damage. Some chips get pretty hot pretty quick especially while gaming wether u overclock or not. My device doesn't get hot quickly but my friends PLAY will become hot very quick.

What temperature is considered "overheating"?

I have been overclocking my CPU lately, sitting good right now at 1.2 ghz. I have it undervolted as well to prevent overheating. My question is what temperature do you associate with too hot? 100 F? more?
I dont like letting my phone get over 95 F, but im just curious to know what is considered a safe temperature range.
I cant directly measure my CPU temp, as that feature is not offered on our phone which really sucks, i have to go by the battery.
I have not the slightest clue but I would think you would go by how it feels in your hand and whether or not you can "smell" the cpu burning. I usually dnt clock it above 1.2 unless I'm gaming which is bad but I have it setup by a laptop cooler so it never overheats. Id say anything more than 90 would be pushing it.....

Not true put it like this our phones automatically shut off @ 122*F I go to 115*F when i play GTA 3 @ 1.5Ghz, but i can clock to 104*F just streaming music on WiFi.
So id say personally probably around 110*F+
Yes 105*F is hot but don't run it that high forever though.
But thats the battery, CPU stays fine so id say if your running 100*F+ For more than an hour than it might overheat??? Not completely sure but like i said everyday i play GTA 3 and get up to those temps.

Do you undervolt your cpu or run it on stock cpu voltages? I'm currently running samurai assassination and my phone always crashes if I undervolt it, and usually crashes when I run it at max voltages, but only when I overclock.

I would consider 114 f overheating, that's when I have setcpu underlock to 800 mhz

Used to but because i play GTA 3 now i dont if undervolt that defeats the sole purpose to overclock so i can play without lag, once you undervolt it decreases performance but however gains in battery life.

His epic is weird undervolting drops his preformance whereas mine increases preformance......

I would agree, 105, 108 would be ok but not for extended periods. Taking the back off usually cools the phone almost 5 degrees for me, but Epics are weird

I'd say that everyday during the summer in Phoenix I'd be overheating as the daily temp rises to 115+ for weeks.

I do this too, for the battery anyway. If it overheats I uc. If I'm under %80 I uc to 800, %50 600, 30% 400

I think it's pretty normal. 35c is also the temperature of your hand(well 37 actually)
get a good sd card class 10 may solve the heat problem
Sent from my LT15i using xda premium
Why? What has the SD to do with heat?
@ OP:
Sometimes mine is almost too hot to touch near the camera when using heavy CPU tasks + HSDPA, so yours is fine.

Do you mean the CPU temperature? The Arc don't have a temperature sensor on the CPU. You only can see the battery temperature.
I downloaded an app to improve battery life... It just made my battery temperature go up to 65 degrees Celsius... I removed that app fast as..... And week never use it again... My telephone still works
Sent from my LT18i using XDA
Not all the apps give a correct temperature value. Onetime I used a app that told me that my battery was 95 Celsius, but that was a bad value, haha. When u use my phone a lot, the battery temperature goes to 35 Celsius, but that's normal.
It´s normal.. I´ve 35º too..
arc s getting really hard
hi there
I bought my arc s about a month ago,its getting very very hot when using wifi for less than 10min,playing game makes similar effect.
i change baseband, kernel, using gingerbread and ics, set cpu to 600Ghz,removing sd card and everything, but nothing solve the problem
its very annoying when using Viber and other application to talk, its very hard that i can't place phone near my ear...
is there any solution except buying another phone
i think i should buy Xperia S

First off all, you can volume down the noise from a phone. But gets the phone hot to on stock? Are the voltages set good? Maybe is undervolting a option for you?
My arc is clocked to 1.4Ghz and it runs perfectly even when running games with wifi and bluetooth on playing through a mw600 and mn800 liveview

My phone is everything stock plus rooted. The past few days my arc s has been reaching upto 38 C. I dont understand why.

Is there any overheating on your Arc/S?

Just wanna know that is your phone have any overheating problem when doing / playing games, and is that normal for getting 50°C of the cpu?
Sent from my LT18 using xda app-developers app
mine heated up pretty bad when I did play games, but I don't know what °C is considered an 'overheat'
Every damn time when I throw in ICS on my Arc S - the overheat problem is there. It's frustrating.. Specially when trying all available custom ROMs.

Anything over 40 degrees is considered harmful to your phone in general.
I've had my phone to warm up to almost 45 degrees. GPS + Data is the culprit for that. Games can also heat the phone up as said before.
Sent from my LT15a using xda app-developers app
Ive only noticed it gets a little hot during charging. I dont play any games
well, how exactly you monitor cpu temp? I only know my battery temp, 37°c right now. when use data temp can raise to 45°c, cellular signal here pretty bad here.
Is there an app for checking cpu temperature I can't recall finding that in settings?

Note 2 idle temperature 90 degrees Fahrenheit?

I just got a replacement phone from t mobile and it seems to have a heating issue. My other note didn't get this warm while idleing. This screenshot shows Idle temperature of my note 2. No apps running in the background, can you guys report your idle temp, so I can get a significant temperature average.

Maybe I'm just being paranoid . But I do know it definitely runs hotter than my other device. and it is very annoying to have a device this hot while hardly doing anything on it. I wouldn't consider it overheating by any means but it is still definitely notably

Man that's perfectly within specs. Start worrying when is 90 degrees CELCIUS 90 degrees f is less than body temperature. You are worrying about nothing. The processor doesn't even start getting problems until like 75c and above,,... What do you expect your phones operating temperature to be 50 degrees f! Walk around with and Ice pack in your pocket. Plus when the device gets hot enough it shuts down anyways. You cant possibly burn that phone without putting a flame to it.
See that temperature normal.
Is this s troll post, be honest.

My note ll was getting really hot on idle when temperature was around 80f here in Chicago. I have no idea why but now seems to be normal.

How hot is too hot? (Battery temp.)

Well this has happend since I upgraded to jellybean about a year back but my phones battery gets really hot when I charge it!! It gets around 109-111°F 115°F if I'm not careful....is that normal or is this a sign that my battery might be failing? Let me know your guys charging temps for the play.
