I just got a TMO Galaxy S4 SCH-M919, i am trying to have it unlock with the unlocking company and apparently they can't
they sent me the e-mail listed below, So my questions is.....
Has anyone be able to unlock their New TMO Galaxy S4?
What you guys recommend i need this phone Unlock, and i don't want to root and reflash to get ti unlock...thank in advance.

i unlocked mine with the tutorial in the general section. for free
Why dont you call tmobile and ask for unlock code? Just tell them you are goin
out of country and they will provide you free unlock code.

I had to replaced my galaxy II last month and had got the unlock code from TMO then. Now I have to wait at least 40 days to get the code from them I think and I am traveling the first week of Sept.

I've been searching this forums for the past two hours searching for a clear answer to my question but I haven't found anything accurate.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S III sgh-t999v bought from Wind in Canada and I have know left the country for Europe.
when I bought the phone I was told that it was unlocked but when I try using my new sim it keeps telling me I need an unlock code.
What I would like to know is if my phone can be unlocked to be used here in Europe without the unlock code?
Does flashing/rooting my phone makes it unlocked?
I appreciate any help/answers to my problem.

No. Rooting your phone does not gsm unlock it. Either call your carrier and ask for the unlock code .. or pay online for one.

Like crisis stated just call your carrier and ask for an unlock code... Your account has to be in good state I believe. Or else pay.

This thread is old and a free method to unlock it has been discovered, you can find it in the general section

The following describes how i got my SGS3 unlocked for free (T-Mobile, not sure if it works for other carriers)
In case you want to unlock your phone for whatever reason, and don't want to pay $20-30 for it, here's what you need to do:
1. Read this article http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-1588
2. Call t-mobile if you match eligibility requirements
3. Ask t-mobile rep submit the request for SIM unlock (cuz you are travelling overseas)
4. Wait for your code and instructions to be sent to your e-mail address. I waited for a day to get them but they say it may take up to 14 days.
Enjoy your unlocked phone.
Who doesn't know this ? .. however you do need an active account with them for more then 90 days...

Maybe there's one, I did it with another sim card which I got from my friend's ATT iphone (it uses micro sim)

Give them your imei and your email.
You will be told it can take up to 14 days
You can request one subsidy unlock code every 90 days.

If you do not have the need to unlock then don't bother.
Unlocking sim comes in handy when you are travelling overseas. You can just buy a prepaid sim card there, plop it in your unlocked gs3 and make phone calls, access the internet right away. You cannot do this if your phone is still locked to T-Mobile network/sim.

Yes...call at&t and ask for it. My device was a couple days old when I called 611 and requested it. About 5-10 mins later...rep gave it to me.

Go online, start a chat with international support and tell them you are planning a trip out of country and need the phone unlocked so you can use a prepaid sim. They will ask for your IMEI#, and after they check everything out they'll give you the unlock code. I tried talking to a csr on the phone and they kept giving me crap about my two year term not being completed, and whole bunch of other gibberish rules. International support online chat got my code within 5 minutes of chat. Just did this today free of charge.

so easy. i didn't even have to give a reason. i just asked for it and the chat rep gave it to me. free of charge.
PS. i am a brand new ATT customer because of this phone. so i was expecting the whole 2-year contract response. but alas, that didn't happen.

vidupakalena, are you kidding?! This site asks from $29.49 to $60.52 for their service! Greedy bastards! I'm not an AT&T customer so I can't use free unlock from AT&T, but I bought unlock code on eBay for just $2.93! And there was even a possibility to bargain see item number 251115115459.

yup, this is legit, just login to your att account then find the link that will chat for customerservice, then ask them the unlock code, they will ask ur ime, within less than 5mins theyll give u the unlock code and instructions to unlock ur phone

Why not tell your carrier that you are going overseas and want to use your phone and ask them to unlock it I did and T-Mobile sent me the code for my phone at no charge. My problem is coming up with a non-tmobile sim card.

Hello i live in the Netherlands and got an at&t locked device. I called at&t but they won't unlock it for me because im not an at&t customer.
Any at&t user here willing to unlock it for me? The phone is out of contract so it's free to unlock for at&t customers, all can be done online.

They only offer the unlock service to existing or formal att customers... Since att is not in the Netherlands i can't do anything . I wanted this the legal way, but without luck. The phone is 3 years old. But no problem I'll unlock it at a phone shop here, i don't mind paying for it i just thought some fellows here wanted to earn a few quick bucks for the effort for me.
If you flash the J2 modem you can unlock the phone. It takes longer to download than it takes to unlock.
