[Q] Help! I Need Sprint's APN's! (APN's got wiped after upgrading to 4.3) - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Since I upgraded to 4.3 I no longer have any data connections (aside from WiFi). I realized my APN's have completely been erased. Can anyone tell me what the sprint APN's are supposed to be, so that I can restore them? I'm open to alternative fixes as well. Please let me know!

Same thing happened to me. Now my radios are messed up. I had cell but no digital. My cell was on roaming unless i had wifi and an activie wifi signal. I did revert back to the MOAR Rom which at that point I had data but no cell. I entered this, ##72786# into my dialer which gave me back my cell but then lost all data. Repost if you find something that makes your phone and data work like it did before.

I would say to try to restore to factory using this method or you could try this method to try and restore your APN's, BUT for this you will need either wifi or data to access the Play store to get APN Backup&Restore. I would follow method 1, in the APN post, for best results, as long as your phone is still rooted. Of course, you will not be backing up your APN's because you don't have any, but it gives you APN file to download and restore. Read very carefully. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the interest and replies! I was successfully able to restore my APN's after doing the following:
1. Backup current ROM (the one with the ****ed up APN)
2. Flash to stock-ish ROM (the one with correct APN info)
3. Install and run APN backup (using APN backup restore APK found on XDA)
4. Copy APN backup files somewhere safe (Because the APN backup restore folder kept disappearing upon re-install)
5. Restore backup ROM (the one with the ****ed up APN)
6. Install APN backup restore via apk, make it system app via titanium backup (OR ELSE RESTORE WILL NOT WORK FOR 4.3), and RESTORE.
HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE!

Step by step to flash CM7 from stock without losing data

I did a lot of reading before I did this to be sure I wouldn't lose anything. Here's the step by step for others, since I was unable to find it all in one place. This is for the MT4G/Glacier, no idea if the process is similar on other phones. You should probably still read, but I couldn't find any of this all in one place:
If you flash, here's what you need:
- Rooted phone (if you need to root, search for the gfree method, it's the easiest)
- ROM Manager from the Market. Get the premium version.
- TitaniumBackup from the Market.
- Sync turned on for your contacts and calendars in your google account.
1. Go into TitaniumBackup, set the option to store the settings on the SDCard. Go into Backup/Restore, hit menu, and run the batch to do a full backup of system and user apps/data.
2. Go into ROM Manager. At the top, click the option to install ClockworkRecovery. Make sure it installs version 3.0.0.5. Then click the option to reboot into recovery mode. In recovery, make a ROM backup of your existing ROM. It will store on the SD card. Reboot back into the OS.
3. Go back into ROM Manager, scroll down to Download ROM's. You should see CM7 Nightlies in there. Download the latest build. It will ask you if you want to also download the GAPPS package, grab that also. When it's done, it will ask you what you want to do... just cancel. Go to reboot in recovery mode.
4. In recovery:
- Wipe/Factory Reset
- Clear cache partition
- Advanced -> clear Dalvik cache
- On main screen, install ZIP from SD
- Navigate to sdcard->clockworkmod->downloads->teamdouche and select the CM7 zip for your phone that was downloaded
- When that is done, install another zip from sd, go into the goo.inside.me directory and install GAPPS zip
- Reboot phone from main menu
5. Enter your gmail creds that you used for your primary account from before
6. Cancel the additional downloads thing when it pops up, this will pop up again later after you enable wireless
7. Go into ROM Manager, Select the Fix Permissions option, reboot (wifi won't work unless you do this)
8. Enable wifi and join to your network
9. Eventually you will get the popup again. Select the stuff that you want installed.
It will pull down all of your apps from the market and install them. If you want to restore user data for the apps, you can go into titanium and click on the app, and restore it with the data. Don't do this until it's done updating from the market. Do NOT restore system level stuff. You will cause problems if you restore system level stuff from 2.2 or earlier on 2.3.x.
You should also install SetCPU from the market, set to start on boot, set conservative mode, and create a screen off profile that limits to 368mhz/conservative. In advanced, leave the defaults, except change the cpu up threshold to 75, and the scaling percent to 11 or 12. Massive battery improvements. You can overclock with this also, mine is only overclocked to around 1100mhz. Some people are running 1800mhz. I heard smartass mode instead of conservative is also good, but haven't tried it.
Keep in mind that if you have an HTC phone with the Sense Framework, you won't have that anymore. So if you liked the Sense dialer (which I did), you can't get it. The stock dialer is functional, but not the best. DialerOne and Dialer2 look the most interesting, but they still aren't as good. If you have CSipSimple installed, remove it. CM7 has SIP built into it, and CSipSimple confuses the phone when trying to make calls. If you liked the Sense clock widget, you can get a replacement, search for Beautiful Widgets on the market. The built in camera app is not Sense either, but does all the same things. The Gallery is awesome, best gallery I've ever seen (stacks that you can pull apart and flip through, very cool).
If GPS doesn't work, download GPS Status from the market and use it to clear the A-GPS data and cache. It's the only app that can do it. It's free.
Also, if you want to go back to your previous ROM, you can flash back with the ROM Manager backup that you made. The only thing is, you'll have to downgrade the clockwork recovery bootloader to 2.5.1.2 first. You can do this by flashing a zip from your SD card. The zip is available somewhere on these forums. I don't have a link, but you can find it by searching a bit. The 3.0.0.5 version cannot flash a Froyo or earlier ROM for some reason. I'm not going back, so I haven't done this.
My TitaniumBackup realized somehow that I installed fresh, and it automatically restored my apps and data. It did NOT on my friend's phone. But, he has the free version and I have the paid one. If it doesn't restore your app settings, you can manually go in and do it. One thing that I've never been able to restore is Good corporate email. It restores, but it won't send or receive. If anyone has ideas on this, post them.
Note that I flashed with build 35, and it's been rock solid. Your mileage may vary. If you already have the software noted above, the whole process only takes about 5-10 mins.
Edit: Recovery 3.0.0.6 was released, and works with 2.2 and 2.3. So you wouldn't have to downgrade the recovery to go back a version. As of this edit, you can grab it here if it's not showing up in ROM Manager yet: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=952433
Something to add... if you are using ADW or LPP do a backup if those also. I find that if you install it fresh from the market and not TB then press restore settings in their preferences it will load all the custom icons and custom dock. It saves alot of time. Nice writup for the peeps that need the pointers for a fresh and fast install of a nightly
FYI, Titanium backup works great at restoring apps. I would be weary of restoring data between android versions however, because some of the data will be of a different type and could cause lots of issues. Thats the reason for the full data wipe before flashing in the first place.

I thought that was mostly because of system. The apps themselves still store their data in sqlite databases, and their schema should not change between versions of the actual OS. I might be wrong.
app data is fine, system data is what causes issues. I should have been more specific.

The only system stuff I install is the accounts back up, email data, wifi access points, and account and sync settings. I usually dont have a problem installing this kind of stuff. I had a few problems in the past restoring some system stuff and it made things not work, a lot of force closes. etc.. I would open up say the sound settings in settings and it would never open it would fc 100% of the time. You know I bet a lot of the issues people have with stuff not working when other's have no problems are due to bad restores. I have not once in any of the builds(since 26 when I started flashing CM 7) had an issue with wifi or gps(knock on wood)

But the market automatically downloads all your apps for you. last time i did a full wipe i only used TB to restore data only, since the apps had been installed automatically from market.
You can use My Backup Pro to back up your SMS and MMS, plus bookmarks and a few other things. Very useful if you want to wipe and save your text.

You can also use My Backup Root (free in market) It is the same as My Backup pro but it is free.
Ok so I just barely rooted and flashed cm7 #40 to my glacier. Everthing is great. I love the rom. I just need help on 2 things. First, how do I get my contacts to sync back to my phone? I had done a factory reset twice before and they always synced back after I logged in my gmail account but not this time. I did sync my gmail before rooting and flashing and I also backed everything up with titanium backup but nothing. Second, when I first flashed the cm7 #40 rom I liked how when I locked the screen it shut off like if you were turning off a tv. I don't know what I did that it does not do it anymore. If anyone knows hows to fix my 2 problems I greatly appriciate it. Thanx.
EDIT: I figured out how to get the screen off animation back but I still have problems getting my contacts to push back to my phone. If anyone knows how to get them to sync it would be helpful.
EDIT#2: Figured out how to get contacts back. Was not able to sync them but just went to the tmo website, wrote them down and re-added them to my phone.

Did you install the GAPPS zip that came with the rom? if you didn't, do. Its the google apps file. That will load the market and apps.

I'm curious if there's a way to batch-restore data only in Titanium Backup? Only way I can see is to do it app by app.
Likewise, any way to batch-backup data only?

Titanium Backup - provisioning / data profile settings

I received a replacement EVO and foolishly ran my full Titanium Backup (all data + all settings) on it. As you can expect, this carried over my data profile/provisioning/RSA keys which wont mach since its different hardware. As a result, i cannot update profile or PRL. I get the standard 1012 error code. If you hard reset, its fine. Once you run the full backup its borks PRL update.
My question is: where is the data profile/network provision information stored? EPST 2.2? I need to remove the app/data from the Backup batch list so that these settings dont get carried over in the backup restore. Any ideas on where this is? My only guess is EPST 2.2.
Clear data in epst. Or....boot into bootloader and clear data storage. It will re-provision upon boot.
Not 100% sure, But I think I get what you mean and I already tried that (with Tier 2 sprint tech support). I did a data profile "restore" option by going into EPST, restoring Z(i.e clearing), rebooting and letting the phone redo the "hands free" activation (re-provision itself). The data would not work at all and I had to hard reset. Sprint said when this occurs all you can do is hard reset. It worked fine then, but once I ran the Titanium backup with the settings from the prior phone, I was right back in the same boat again.
Simply clearing the data profile and letting it do provisioning again (hands free activation) did not seem to work. I will try again. Perhaps it killing data altogether was a one time fluke but that's what happened. What I need to do is be able to hard reset then restore my batch (all apps, data etc.) only with absolutely no Provisioning settings whatsoever. Nothing that would screw with data profile and affect PRL. The backup uses old settings save from the prior phone. I'm just not sure what to remove from my Titanium Backup batch restore to do this. I don't know where its stored. Is it EPST 2.2 in the Titanium backup Batch list? Anything else this data/settings could be stored in?
I only use TB for restoring apps, sometimes a system app if I'm SURE of what it is. (And have never run into problems this way)
Would using TB that way not work for you?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Yes, and I plan to do that in the future. If I could just figure out which part of this bath restore from tatanium backup contains the data profile/provision settings I could probably restore everything else fine and avoid this PRL issue.
Bump...bump

[Q] MMS not working, closes with "Unfortunately, Messaging has stopped."

Need help with MMS. The app stopped working and I am unable to receive or send MMS. When I try to open the MMS app it opens, but the main body area is black, then it crashes and closes with the "Unfortunately, Messaging has stopped." error.
I'm not sure when this exactly happened. I was on the stock rom, then used the non-flash counter root method and stopped without installing CWM. I thought everything was working properly and I did some data restores of my Titanium back-up. The later might have been the cause of the problems, but I have read that a this issue comes up with not clearing the cache when flashing a new rom (didn't do this, just odin'ed a root injected rom). I'm travelling so I am very hesitant to do a factory reset or new rom flash.
I also had the Unfortunately the Outlook service has stopped problem, but I fixed that by clearing out Cache and Data in the Applications settings menu for the mail client. I tried that with the MMS app and it didn't fix the problem.
I also check the permissions and owner for the secmms.apk and secmms.odex files and the are correct. I tried downloading a secmms.apk, but I am not sure if it is the right file, especially since it didn't have an odex file with it. That didn't fix the problem.
Update: Restoring from TiBack-up didn't help. Also tried restoring mmsprovisioning. I'm overseas so I have mobile data off and using WiFi. Does this impact MMS, e.g. need to have mobile data networks on to get MMS or MMS not working with WiFi?
Can anyone suggest a fix for this, e.g. send me the right secmms files? Does flashing CWM and doing a cache wipe help and will this erase all my files? How about restoring my full MMS back-up from Titanium back-up? Any help is appreciated.
You restored some backups from Titanium? Of /data?
I thought that the no trip root method avoided overwriting /data, meaning there was no need to restore anything? Maybe that's the reason you're seeing your MMS app fail?

I think the problem was with the titanium backup restores. So avoid restoring data on the mms or email.
I could not find a fix and ended up doing a factory data reset from the settings menu. After reboot everything was working fine.

[Q] Galaxy s3 on boost mobile

Hey I fully flashed my s3 to boost mobile everything works as it should except MMS picture messaging I can receive them just not send them these are the methods I have tried down below
I simply tried the boost mobile APN in mmsc in the data hidden menu ##3282#this would simply work for every other phone unless its lte
Then I tried this method it didn't work either
Root your phone if it isn't already then..Get the paid version of root explorer.. Then push apn backup & restore to system apps.. backup your APN reboot*into recovery wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, go to advanced fix permissions..reboot go back to apn app hit menu and disable the ics check... Now you*got working mms... Cheers (also wiping the caches isn't needed I just like to do it)back up that apn with the app or if you already have that apn xml then your golden, ics won't allow you to restore the apn if you don't follow the*instructions up top you dont have to restore the apn after you back it up just a good idea to have it backed upHit the thanks button if I helped you, also these instructions are in the play store under the apps description.. I take no credit*into finding this I just read alot..lol give it a shot mms should work properly without the use of go sms.
I'm on fully stock rooted LJ7
Any help is appreciated thank you

Guys I found the two files the Dev was referring too to try to fix the data portion of this rom! I'm using sprint note 2 flashed to straight talk, and have tinkered for several hours on getting my data to connect via the rom.... It don't have nothing to do with the kernel or other files referring to getting data to work. I DON'T know how to upload the files the dev said to use to get your data working. All I can tell you is I now have my data up and running, on this rom! The issue lies within the settings via APN'S and the configuration within the hidden menus on our Note 2's. The problem is when you try to use the ##data# menu it won't allow you to do it. So via one of the files the dev mentioned allowed me to check current settings on 4.4.4 rom I was using with working data, and the rom I was using was Alliance Rom. So when I finally figured out that when you install this Rainbow OS the settings are preconfigured to be used with a foreign configuration. Yes the APN will also need to be changed via APN & Backup apk. But the main thing is several settings via the hidden menu are changed when this rom is installed. You really need to know what your doing when your messing with the strings, because you can lose data, and voice and a simple reset or flashing another rom and or Installing a backup via Twerp will not bring back the original configuration. The files the dev mentioned are also paid APK files I don't know if I can upload or link because of the rules on XDA. After getting data working this rom is truly one of the best roms I've ever used on my note 2. I've had no errors or even fc. The strange thing was my mms works via the stock messenger, sending and receiving.
Remember Messing with the network strings can cause your phone too become useless if you don't know how to put your proper settings back. Even flashing the phone using Odin back to factory won't fix the problem. Trust me I know I did it 3 times and it still gave me no data or talk. So always backup your orginal settings using APN backup.

So always backup your orginal settings using APN backup.
Can you attach those files here
Can you give us the names of the apps you used to get data working, maybe take a screen shot of the settings that were changed? Would really appreciate it.
