Huh?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
My is showing 768x1184.why is that?becose when I Google phone spec. It should be 768x1280
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I have no idea actually. Where is it showing that?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Nothing is wrong.
1. There's a status bar
2. There's a gigantic obnoxious navbar
These two subtract from the 768P resolution.
Two solutions:
1. Expanded desktop+PIE = No status bar + Nav = full screen real estate
2. Pie = Regain some screen space
You have to dovnload app like screen spec or device info

Honestly though, what is the point of this? We all have the same resolution. The only thing that could change is the DPI. If maybe by some twisted chance that's what you're trying to ask, I keep my DPI at 300. I'm not trolling or flaming, just confused by this.

Well all Nexus 4 have same screen resolution.
Hope this helps to who ever is concerned
The navigation bar (the bar with 3 buttons on the bottom) does not count when checked with those device info apps.
Hence your 768x1184 means your navbar is taking up 96 pixels. (1280-1184)
hi and thanks to all.the reason is.I just bought my nexus from 4 from eBay uk but the box is Chinese.than I was not sure if it is not fake.than checked device info and my screen resolution 768x1184 which is different than the one which I found on the internet.same with the ram .it is shoving Max 1872mb.all I wanted was compare if other ovner of nexus for have the same device info as I have.thanks

Like people said above, the 1184 is because the navbar and status bar use up some space.
And as for the RAM, it's fine. 1872 is alright the rest is used by system (I think)

it's been sad many times,i think there's also a 3ad somewhere of prism toggle by nvidia.Anyways,if you don't want to buy the app,you can use the tricksterMOD app and by disabling smart-dimmer in the proper tab,you do the same thing (echo "0" > /sys/devices/tegradc.0/smartdimmer/enable)
EDIT ehi,but it's warez!!!!!!!!!!!PULL IT OFF!
thanx guys, trying this out,,steve

I noticed that if I'm playing a youtube video, and I press the recents button, the icons look wash out/almost white. not anymore with this app.

there is no problem with the display. its a power-saving feature which doesnt save any power from what i was able to find out.
problem is that it washes out your colors. its extremly visible when you watch video for 10-20min and then press HOME. it stays like this for good 30+sec. after that it goes back to normal. watching a lot of movies, its visible whether I have this turned ON/OFF.
Why does Google do such weird things all the time? I know other people have to think the same thing about why they design an OS the way they do. For instance clicking the clock in the status bar takes u to time settings instead of clock or calendar(when we all have auto time enabled)? And I'm pretty sure(at least I hope) its a bug, but the stupid new camera rotation is beyond dumb. And why they took the so much fun camera effects out, I may never know... I do love Google but just question their Dev team sometimes... sometimes a lot
But that is why we have these wonderful devs across the forums. I can't thank you guys/gals enough!!!!

LOL Maybe he means alarm settings which is inside clock app
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
The slow camera rotation is intentional. The Android Dev team spoke about it. As for camera effects, I don't know how many people actually used them. Sure, Mac users seem to use them quite a bit, but I don't know about Android users.

Yea I meant alarms.. Lol. Or even clock app would be smart
Why on EARTH would u want camera lag when changing the phone orientation... Then u end up missing Ur shot!
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
The rotation lag doesn't bug me too much. It usually takes a second or less to rotate. I usually know what orientation I want my picture to be, so I'll press the camera app in that orientation.

Just lock rotation when you want to use your camera, if you are using a rom with toggle rotation it wont be that hard to press a toggle.
I personally always disabled rotation, and only enabled it when i want to use it.

Another thing that bothers me is app drawer. the black background is still stuck in the Gingerbread era.
If I lock rotation to to a pic in landscape its going to take the picture in portrait but I guess u could just rotate it in the gallery... But still useless as fuhk. I'd rather deal with the lag of swiping to my pictures than the actual camera itself... Come one Google... You're better than this... Back to 4.1 camera I am

Anyone know which ROM(s) will let you modify the backlight levels for the screen? Trying to help battery consumption by the display. For example, on my inc2 these could be found in display setyings > edit backlight levels

Cyanogen Mod 10.1 does this now. When you adjust brightness via the settings menu, you can click edit and adjust the autobrightness levels.
Is CM10.1 the only one? Or can I expect all ROMs with a CM base to do this as well?

I can confirm this does not have an effect on battery life. Seems like even though the display backlight can be lowered, it does not change how much power is consumed to keep the screen on. Go ahead and experiment yourself.

If this is true it seems to me that manufacturers should try and address this issue of power consumption by displays. Don't get me wrong I enjoy a nice screen as much as the next user, but I'd rather sacrifice a slightly downgraded display for better power management by the device itself.

I think manufacturers should go back to 4 inch displays. They are much easier to use one handed and smaller screens are so battery friendly. My old Atrix 4G would give me 8 hours screen time on Wi-Fi.

u can try screen filter.
Use Lux and set it up according to your preferences!. Simple, clean and available for all ROMs!!
Cheers!!

I've successfully ported the evervolv ROM to the SR, but whenever the CPU engages, IE unlock screen, launching an app, etc., this thick red outline appears. Sometimes randomly. Short of building from source, since i don't have the necessary tools, how would one fix this? I can just email that particular dev, but i wanted a broader audience. Thank you for your attention.

Yes, just as the lock screen comes up, but then it seems fine. Strange.
BS...
u mean with the screen facing the ground? or the volume buttons near the ground, im confused, maybe a pic/vid would help
The launcher FC'd but after acknowledging the event everything is fine.
A video showing the issue being reproduced may be useful so we can identify it.
The second time I tried this I noticed when the glowing x was about to be replaced with the lock screen the x dropped to the bottom center of the display, as if the height on the display was two times the actual size.

Seems normal booting forme. Didn't try max. Brightness
Via Google voice Δ |\|€×u$™ 7 FHD on Tapatalk²
I got the glitch, but it didn't really seem to affect anything on mine. It straightened itself out almost immediately and the normal lock screen came up.
I noticed this glitch today, but like the others said it doesn't really matter much since it corrects itself right away.
I wouldn't call it a "glitch", more like an annoyance, that happens to the Nexus 7(2012) as well. The bootanimation/logo is supposed to be portrait, but as the tablet start up it tries to move to landscape mode, but since it's a portrait image it moves that way, making it look like something's wrong but it's not. You can change the lockscreen to not rotate and stay in portrait or don't hold it landscape while it boots up, in that way you won't see it again.
Edit: Also happens to the brightness level, it's just the tablet starting up.
