Hi,
I've been experiencing a very weird issue lately. Yesterday I opened whatsapp and the UI was different. The contact list option was at the bottom along with 2 other options, which is otherwise at the top right corner. I thought maybe its a newer version but when I checked today, the ui was back to the older one. I checked on Google play in case there's an update which somehow got mixed up, but there wasn't. Then I remembered it had happened before with Facebook. A month back the fb app showed a different outlay which went back to older one the next time I opened it.
Anybody has an idea about it or anything similar?

Apps changing UI? How's that even...

Changed your DPI lately? Certain DPI will, if coded in the app, change the layout. I.e I'm using 240 DPI and the messaging app has 'new message' at the top rather then the bottom for standard 320dpi, same as gmail labels and options have shifted to the top also.

Do you have Force GPU rendering turned on?

yup i noticed it with facebook several times, even took a screenshot of it .. i always thought of it as a "version in preparation" , and thought it was only a fb thing

No I haven't tinkered with the DPI. Most of my settings are default. I've an unlocked galaxy nexus and have't rooted the phone either.

Yesss! This is the exact same UI I saw once. Similar thing happened with whatsapp. I wonder what this is.

I had that same Facebook UI the other day!! I thought the app updated.
Weird. Now it's gone.
Actually u can replicate it with fb. Just log out while u're not on ur news feed or timeline pages, for example visit a friend's timeline, and then log out, then log in again. It may not work every time, but i seem to be able to replicate it that way
P.s. usually the ui changes to the old one (the regular one) spontanously after a few clicks.

Thanks @rayiskon. I think I reinstalled fb when that happened. I guess your method would also work. However, the different whatsapp ui was actually better and more convenient, don't know why they changed it if it really was an older version of it.

Whenever I'm reading a long text in paragraph format or something on the Web, if I double tap the text it just zooms in, I remember on my old phones the text would automatically adjust in size and wrap so I wouldn't have to keep side scrolling. Any way to enable this on the note 2? Thanks

I wondered the same thing very annoying when browsing. I thought all android phones did it however ive only owned HTC phones for the past 7 years so guess its an HTC thing. Is there an app or something that will enable this feature? Sure is nice when you double tap and the web page resizes so you can read it all and dont have to squint to see the text..
Pretty sure just normal double taps and pinch to zoom are all you got on non htc phones

hmmm i'm not seeing the settings you are referring too. Is this done while in the browser?

I'm 100% sure this isn't what the OP is wanting. HTC had text reflow no matter what level of zoom you did on a webpage. Non-HTC phones don't. This setting you are referring to in browser options has never made any difference on my Nexus or my Note 2. All the sites I use already display to fit the screen. I've tested it and I can't see a site where it actually shows the intended effect. Do you have a website example?

My apologies, yes while in browser press menu then scroll down to settings. I hope this is what your looking for.

maybe theres a third party browser thatll emulate this function?
I never found a solution to this problem months ago. When I got my Galaxy Nexus after owning a hero, evo, and Evo 3D... I thought this was a huge problem but I learned to live with it and now I don't think about it

Thanks for this. This helps but as others have said with HTC devices you can zoom in at any distance and it will automatically adjust and wrap the text for you, not just one size in the auto fit.

Dolphin browser works perfect for me does the auto adjust just fine.
I have been using Chrome and it is great on the Note 2.

Dolphin Browser does do what the OP asked for. That's why I replied to his post.
Respectfully disagree since I tried Dolphin mini and the regular Dolphin and neither did what he asked. Maybe I'm wrong. The op isn't looking for Auto fitting of text to the initial page. While that may be a good alternative, he wants text reflow no matter what level of zoom, continuously. That is an htc thing

That's what I thought he was asking and that's how Dolphin is working for me. Under 'settings' / 'Web Content', I have 'Auto-fit Pages' turned on and it reflows the text as I zoom in and out. I also have my 'User Agent' set to desktop but I'm not sure that matters. It works for me.
(I just tried it to make sure I'm not crazy and it works perfectly. It will reflow the text to fit my screen regardless of zoom level.)

that definitely looks right. Does that work on the normal xda site? That's what I tried and didn't work for me. That's the site I always use to test..Regular dolphin or mini?
Update: Dude I want that feature back.. I've tried your setting and every setting imaginable on all 3 Dolphin browsers.. I've tried Google...xda...mlbtraderumors.com.. nothing works for me...pm me so we don't bore everyone to death.. am I the only one that can't get this working on Dolphin?

You're using the LG Keyboard as your entry method? I had to disable the Path keyboard feature to split the keyboard.

Didn't think about that. Just tried it and I still don't get the split keyboard. Im going to reset the phone and see if that works.
Edit: Never mind, you then have to drag the keyboard to the sides. Thanks, that worked.

Hello
I've upgraded my gpad to android 4.4.2 via lg pc suite.
In settings/accessory there is an option to enable/disable "Quick Cover", auto wake/sleep function, when case cover is opened/closed.
Everything worked on 4.2.2 but now when this option is turned off and I open the cover tablet auto wakes up.
Someone has same problem or know any solution? Thx.
Now that you mention it, I checked mine, also happens the same. Since waking, also could shut down.
Updated my VIA OTA
You can manually shut it off if you have root in /sys/devices/i2c-3/3-004b/smart_cover. Change from 1 to 0.
The address above is for the v510, and could be different, but a quick search should do the trick.
After turning off the option, my cover can still wake the device, but will not sleep the device. That is, it functions in half...

Thanks for the clue :good:
Rooted my gpad today using ioroot25, but in /sys also in / there is no such file as smart_cover or quick_cover.
Ah crap, I plan to buy a smart cover... Should I?

Do a search with a file explorer with root permissions and show hidden files.
In my (V500) address is /sys/devices/virtual/switch/smartcover/ which apparently is different from a V510.

Howdo everyone,
I briefly had an LG G2 at the start of the year (a week till i sent it back to orange) but i really liked the various option on the camera. ive now got the G3 but find that there is virtually nothing in the camera other than the basics? Am I missing something or is this on purpose? Is there any way of installing the camera app from the G2 onto the device that offers these options?

It's set to default point and shoot.. choose the three dots menu and there you can change things (yes it's not as functional as past devices apparently - seems to be a common complaint currently.)
LG tried to reduce their bloat by taking out things that most people do not normally use. For example I had a Note 3 which had 10-15 different camera options not including filters, I never used any of them expect for HDR mode. I'm glad that LG removed all of the unnecessary features, but they should have allowed users to optionally install them. LG also should have added in a way to turn off the shutter noise without us using tweak box.

I have a UK LG-D855.
Just tried it again, it definitely works on mine. You have to turn the volume down on the home screen, then open the camera as the volume buttons take a photo on mine.

Must be. I would have thought the UK would have been the opposite though.
UK Phones allow camera shutter to be turned off. - Most asian and other EU models don't allow it due to legalities.
just go to /system/media/audio/ui and delete all camera sounds. done. sound gone.
