I know the HTC One has been around a while on other carriers. Has anyone seen any reviews on how long the battery lasts?
I saw decent battery life in other reviews. One thing that caught my eye as a negative was that it had very slow charging times compared to other phones.

The slow charging time was in an early 4.1.2 build. It has been fixed though already in a previous update.
I read they turned off the fast charge mode for it, I think in an effort to make the battery lifespan last longer.
I read that it slowly charges the battery on purpose. It allows the battery to last longer since it's not removable. Apparently the fast charge fries batteries pretty quick.

Fast charging a battery phone is not really going to fry it... but there is truth that if you slow charge a battery, it will last longer.
I had the HTC One on T-Mobile for a while before switching back to Verizon and it got through the day with moderate to heavy usage. Overall you should be able to get a day out of it at least

Did Verizon remove Power Saver from their model? I can't find a setting anywhere. I know that 4.2.2 removed it from the notification screen, but it's not under the battery settings either. Anybody know?

I'm back to the HTC One. The only reason I gave it up was T-Mobile coverage was terrible in my area
OK...My first full charge from 100%...the results???
I'm at 6% after 7 hrs 53 Mins
After a full days work (8 hrs) w/ my S4, I usually have about 65% left...I am hoping it will get better!

What was your screen on time? The only other reason I can think of that contributed to this was all the setting up, syncing, and downloading that you may have been doing on this first full charge (unless you did that all of that prior to this full charge)
Edit: Nonetheless, thanks for sharing. Hopefully it is indeed going to be much better than that on a regular basis.
It'll be a few weeks before I can tell if the phone's batter is any good. I'm spending a lot of time on it.

Yea they did, there is a Qualcomm snapdragon specific power saver app in the play store that is supposed to be a viable replacement.

All I know is that in the first few days to a week of me having a new phone, I get horrible, HORRIBLE battery life. Why? Because it's shiny, it's new, it's interesting!
Give it a few days to a week and you will be back to mostly normal usage. I know that after the initial new phone excitement goes away, my battery life usually doubles.
Not to mention the battery cycle break in. I'm not sure if it's real or not, some people say it is, some say it isn't, but apparently it takes a few charge and discharge cycles for your battery to get to a normal state?

I read somewhere (pretty sure anandtech) that with these new batteries, it is advised against fully discharging. The optimal state is to charge it when it hits 75% ish.
If a battery dies, it dies, but you should not be purposefully killing it. I'll try to find the article, but I'm busy at work right now.

I don't know where you heard that, but for Lithium Ion batteries, over-discharging happens when you are around 2V or less... most phones will turn off when the battery gets to around 3.2V
Fully charged is roughly 4.2V
Most of these batteries are good for 250 to 400 charge cycles, It doesn't matter whether you are at 1% or 80%, the phone will stop charging once it gets to 100% since you cant trickle-charge Li-Ion batteries

From what I've heard the battery is good for a day at best.
I've been debating One vs. Maxx for a few days... so confused... Battery Life vs. Sexy!
Just got my HTC One from Verizon. I am coming from a Note 2 which got excellent battery life but the phone was huge. The battery life is actually decent. I had the DROID dna and the battery life on that was horrible. So far it's pretty decent.

I got the charger and 2 batteries from amazon, and have been running them for over a week now. In that time, my phone had not touched a charger! lol
So far they last a long time and do not heat up. NO JOKE, my phone is 27 hours with 33% left, with light to medium use.... that's reading mu pules blogs, playing some games, surfing the web, chacking emails, and facebook, using it as a flashlight a few times and checking out the market for new apps. The batteries are good quality as far as I can tell.
running wanama light ROM or whatever, with nephetamine kernel.
Are these batteries the same size as the original?
1900mah, I got 1 day 14 hours out of my battery with good use, and switched my battery and I just kept on trucking! lol My review is on amazon as well.
I meant are they the same physical size as the original 1650mah samsung batteries, or will you need a larger back case
same size. you use your existing back case your phone came with. I find it lasts slightly longer then stock.
After a couple of cycles the battery takes 6-7hrs to trickle charge in the dock charger.
But its hardly an inconvenience when you have 50% battery in your phone and a spare battery in your back pocket just incase and a battery charging at home on the dock charger.
and I never have to connect my phone to a charger either.
Great!
Anyone here been using them for more than a month and noticed a drop in capacity?
screenshot of battery usage? =D (specifically display-on time)

Nice to see another member from sg. I have used to for almost 2 weeks now.
So here's what I think. (its not an official benchmark test)
Using CM7 and launcher pro
Wifi or 3g switched on all the time
No GPS
Alarm Clock Plus running the whole night.
Casual games and surfing.
No video watching.
No calls, no text,
About 2 hours of music
24 hours later, ~15% left.
This performance is about the same as the stock battery, so you should not expect a drastic improvement. But with a total of 3 batteries including stock, you can pretty much do whatever you want during the day and charge when you need to.
One good thing about this arrangement. You are always charging your battery only when its empty, so i suppose battery life will last longer?
For the price and functionality, its a very good buy.
Update: It does heat up considerably when i stream videos and battery life dropped 15-20% for every 25 min of streaming. It could be a rom thing and not the battery's fault.

Aside from how well the battery performs, which I won't comment on as I don't own one, your statement about 'charging your battery only when its empty, so i suppose battery life will last longer?' is actually incorrect.
Lithium-ion batteries are more conducive to a partial discharge than a full one. The only time you ever full discharge your battery is to calibrate the battery meter, normally once every few weeks of use. Constantly draining the battery to 0 and then recharging it will actually harm lithium-ion batteries.
As stated here, http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/charging_lithium_ion_batteries 'Lithium-ion does not need to be fully charged; a partial charge is better.'

I should have wrote a disclaimer that I am not 100% certain if that increases batt life. I am not so sure that it'll harm the battery if you perform full charge discharge, but i do know that the cycle means you are using pretty much calibrated battery all the time. For people interested in finding out more, that article is a good reference. Make your own judgement after reading it.
Thank you for posting the article btw!

Thanks for the eBay link!
I just ordered mine literally two minutes ago from Amazon.com. Don't know why I forgot to check eBay. I guess I was going to buy a few things for Amazon anyway. Hope I can still cancel my Amazon order as it's $10 cheaper to order from ebay.
Ive had mine for a few weeks now and definitely better than the stock ones for sure! I have not charged my phone at all since I got this lol
Important to note that you can't charge these in the phone, and you have to use the external charger. I can see that being inconvenient in some cases
Fully charged my LTE Nexus while it was on and then fully charged while it was off. Restarted the phone, haven't done anything with it in 30 mins and it's already down 4% to 96%. What's the deal?!?!?
Someone said in another thread... if you look at your Android System usage in the battery meter, its way too high... sounds like a bug - apparently a custom kernel has fixed this, but I havent rooted yet to test it.

Although I prefer the GN, laptopmag.com found that the Rezound and RAZR have clear advantages when it comes to web surfing time on 4G. GSM GN wasn't too impressive either.
"On the LAPTOP Battery Test (web surfing over 4G on 40-percent brightness), the Galaxy Nexus lasted just 3 hours and 40 minutes. That's a full 3 hours less than the smartphone average (6:38), and about 1:20 less than the unlocked Galaxy Nexus on T-Mobile's network. By comparison, the HTC Rezound lasted 5:03 and the Droid RAZR lasted 4:48. Verizon Nexus owners may want to turn off 4G when they don't really need it or find other ways to conserve juice."

Mine did the same thing as they always do. I only got 4 hours first full charge. After 2 more full cycles it's great!

I forget this every time I get a new phone!! It's odd considering I load roms very, very frequently on whatever phone I have at the time and I know I have to wait a couple of battery cycles for battery life to get acceptable with any new rom, but I can't seem to remember it with a new phone!
I'm going to chill and wait and see.
Also, let it die completely and then charge it up 100000% (leave it charging overnight if you can). This is a good way to "train" the battery.

Do NOT do this whatever you do. You should never completely drain a Li-Ion battery except when calibrating it after flashing a rom. Draining li-ion batteries hurts its battery life.

Ok, so should he do it or not? You say not to unless you're calibrating.
Well, that's what the other poster is talking about. "training" = calibrating.
It doesn't harm a thing letting them drain all the way to the point of the phone shutting down. I've been doing this for all my phones, new roms, etc. I always end up with excellent battery life.

Sorry, but you are wrong.
Deep discharges do "harm" a LiIon battery physically (there is damage done to the membranes in the battery at a molecular level).
You will get about ~500 full (deep) discharges from your battery, but you will get more than double of that if you only discharge to 50% and more if you discharge even less. So the best thing is to charge your LiIon cell as often as possible, with the exception that it's also not healthy for the cell to be at full charge voltage (4.20 V) for a prolonged time either.
Yikes. You people with good battery life are lucky haha. I'm on my 6th charge and I still get around an hour and forty minutes of battery life. I'm at like 50% after an hour or so... and that's with LTE off too...

I'm sorry but that sounds like badly calibrated battery. Lithium-ion Batteries are -never- 100% except for a very brief moment.
It is natural that your phone displays 97%-99% when unplugged (or even when still plugged in). Batteries protect themselves like this, because these batteries cannot be charged while they are full, they will stop charging the very moment you hit 100%.
Generally you don't want your battery to be above 90% for a extended amount of time, that much voltage/capacity speeds up the degradation of the cells. So actually you should be happy, because your battery will have a longer life.

He's technically correct. LiIon batteries are happiest around 60-70% charge level. However given that your actively using a cell phone battery and your not storing it at high charge its OK.
If you really want to learn more about Lithium tech I can link you to a forum where people are VERY serious about this stuff and use them for high powered lights.
This is a known design "feature."

It will lose very little capacity not being used. He meant it will lose charge just sitting there. Just don't let it sit empty. Or at full charge.

You should be fine, lithium-ion batteries hold their charge pretty well. I've not actually tested them before, but try charging it to full and then booting up to see the charge in 28 days later, might be interesting to see.
I know my Nikon D7000 batteries hold their charge very well, I tend to leave one in the camera and discharge the one in the battery grip first and just use the battery for a month or so and swap them around. In the same sort of time, 28 days I can lose up to six percent this time of year, but I am going out everyday in temperatures as low as -12°C, so it's to be expected.

For this Id like to know some additional information... what widgets you have running. Stock or ROM and what kernel. As well as settings like display, sync timing etc.
If you want to store your LiIon battery it's best for the battery to have ~40% charge. The battery will age the slowest this way.
Do not store it at 100% or 0%. Check every 6 months and recharge to ~40% if necessary.

This also reinforces what I've heard. Store these type of batteries around 1/2 charge never full never empty.
So I got a brand new pixel XL a few weeks ago. I was reluctant about the whole thing because even though it's a new phone. It has been sitting in a box for over a year without being charged or anything. So long story short, I got the phone and the battery life is awful. I took it off the charger this morning and within 5 min of being off the charger it's at 96%. I typed this and that's it. My work issued phone is a standard iPhone 7. Absolutely destroys this pixel XL in battery life. What is your experience with this phone? Do you think it would be worth ordering a battery and putting a new one in?
Depends on what version of android you are using. 7.1.1 and 7.1.2 were great with battery life, 8.0 sucks and I have heard people in the beta 8.1 are saying the battery life is spectacular.

Something is wrong then as you have said, 8.1 is awesome on battery.
I would bite the bullet and factory reset it, and hold off putting any apps on it, or making any settings adjustments for a couple of days.
If that works, go slow adding apps. If it doesn't yeah get the battery replaced.

I didn't even consider the fact that a phone sitting in a box not charging for a year could effect the condition of the battery...is this really a valid concern? Would that really degrade the quality of the battery?

Battery's don't like to sit. That's why a lot of people that have cars that sit or recreational vehicle put battery tenders on them. Maybe this doesn't apply to the batteries in our phones
I don't know if all battery types work the same. Car/boat/etc. have lead-acid batteries, the old rechargeable and battery phones were nickel-metal-hydride, and modern phone batteries are Lithium Ion. They all have different characteristics when being used and stored.

I did a factory reset. We will see if that helps.
Doesn't seem to be making a difference. At 92% with 22 min sot
One more test. Airplane mode.

We know your apps are good...you just reset it. This will eliminate wifi or mobile freaking out. It's a long shot, I just like to eliminate possibilities.

I guess my only concern is a phone is going to get good battery life while on airplane mode. Maybe not. But with that enabled I won't be able to use the phone for anything so it will just be in doze which would result in good battery life. I understand what you mean but I don't know if it will really show me results that are useful

Valid point. But I think a bad battery will continue to drain, maybe not as fast....but too fast for while on doze.
I've always read that the battery percentage isn't too accurate above 90%. Also, don't the phones stop charging once full and trickle as it depletes? There's apps that had been made to do this as well since it's supposed to be better for letting lithium batteries. I'd give it a day or 5 before thinking your battery is bad.

I have had the phone for a few weeks and have just been kinda dealing with it. Maybe it's fine and I was just expecting more from it. So far it just has not been all that impressive.
Edit: your comment about the first 10% not being that accurate. There may be something to that because it does seem as though the first 10% goes fairly fast then it slows down after that. Maybe it's just something g that I need to get use to

Then i think your battery is good. Going by those numbers you will get around 6 hours of SOT.
I usually get around 3.25 hours of SOT with 50% remaining on 8.0 Oreo.
