well the best way is to physical verify the phone
i am unable to find the list but here are some u can
1.make sure he has the bill and imei written in it
2.verify the imei with the bill *#06# typing this on the phn
3.type *#0*# and test all stuff
4.check for battery if its orginal
5.check for any wear and tear
6.try to call ur number and have a talk to see the signal recption on phn
7call samsung customer care and ask them saying that u have purchased a new phn and you want to verify if its genuine they will inform u.
8.download mmc checker from playstore and see if it has got insane chip
well this all came to my mind as of now, the imei seems to be ok though

and its way better with 2gb ram and 32gb storage
Just ask him for a picture of the spen. You will see them, fake phone won't have it.

I have a demo unit and to be frank it sucks because i cant connect to my cellular network, it wont even read my sim card. Am now looking for a way of returning it
Demo Live Vs Orginal Note 2
The difference between Demo Live and original Note 2 is that Demo phone does not recognize the SIM card and it is impossible to use it as for calls and sending text messages. All other options are exactly the same as in the original

The Live Demo Unit will have no baseband, an advertising video running (which can be disabled) and no lockscreen,
IF your thinking that you flash the Firmware from Sammobile or XDA you will get the base band everything will be as original as note 2 but REMEMBER FLASHING WILL NOTE GET THE BASEBAND
There are few more drawbacks.

Means if i get base band and IMEI Number but still i am unable to use sim on it ???

Please wait unless you now hoc to use and transfer downloads from a computerrogram named chimera,if you can use a com puter buy the program chimera and you will need able too repair your IMEI nr which i why people cant use them as a regular mobile phone this program will take care of everything,and will even tell you what kind of firmware your phone need,it is a wonder program for samfund live demo units

He is actually trying to cheat you because you will end up with a wifi device witout opportunity to call it is basicly the real deal without the right settings and firmware

It keeps loading retail mode from samsung all the time however i have managed to get rid of it. Is there a way to flash it with different firmware to get sorted. I am not an expert so if someone can guide me step by step that will be great.

There's nothing fishy about his story. Samsung demo units only contain WiFi connectivity options to discourage theft and resale.

Its not fishy it has been given to me by samsung for demo in mobile stores in uk. It does connect to wifi as someone mentioned its just it dont pick sim cards probably because samsung blocked it. As i got a sim with unlimited data i want to use it and get rid of my dongle and laptop.

Since samsung supplied it (in your words) for demo in mobile stores in uk I doubt they would be particularly pleased with it being supplied with an imei (which is TOTALLY dodgy to me) for personal use when it was never intended for that!
Sorry dude but it does sound fishy.
No manufacturer would be pleased to install custom roms too..... So solution please if you have any?

I would not flash anything if you have these issues right from the get go, take it back to place of purchase and or call your carrier. Demo is just that Demo...

Well, I have a Sprint Galaxy Note 2, I did the GSM Modification that is in this forum and works for me perfect in Colombia, but I dont like everytime that i install a new rom i have the same problem everytime that i install a new rom i need to put the APN configurations, also install a LK8 that works in Medellin, Colombia (If someone in Medellin, Colombia is trying to do this the LK8 Modem works i spent a lot of time trying to make this works) Also the configurations the signal is a little bit poor, In Colombia there is Operator called Virgin Mobile that is really cheaper and its really good, when i have my iPhone 4 I have signal everywhere, and im studying in a School really far away from the city and with my iPhone 4 I used to be with all circles of signal, also i had a Huawei (I dont remember which one) and Works 3G at my school, but with the GSM modification i had to change my carrier and i dont know if the adapter that i bought isnt i dont know, Good? i Bought it on AliExpress here tell if the product is good or not, But the signal is poor and the plug disconnect everytime i had to put a piece of paper with glue to make pressure to the plug trying to get the product not disconnected, so i talk with guy of my family who works on mobile repairment but i dont have enough time to talk and he said that if bought and put a Middle Cover of the Galaxy Note N7100 i will not having this problem anymore i bouth it yesterday a that will take i dont know 3 weeks to came to my house because is from China, Thats true about buying this can fix my problem? Instead i look for this product i saw in this page some products that are called MotherBoards, I know what is it, but i dont think that there is people selling it, because in Colombia is 90% impossible to get one legaly, so i look for the N7100 but i dont know if i can make that to my phone, there isnt Hardware Differences between those products? Hey guys was hoping someone could help me out, I was told yesterday that I could get free IMEI unlock codes so before I throw MORE money out the window that we don't have lol I thought I would ask you all first ..........
So my dilemma is my boyfriend and I both needed new phones and fast due to work and kids and we'll just life we decided to look on kijiji to find some and ended up finding someone that had 2 phones that both of us wanted. I went to look at them well I was on a time crunch so I didn't test the SIM cards ( stupid me ) before I paid and walked out with them and just my luck there both locked ( will give more details ) and if it can't get any worse the seller has now disappeared and I'm left trying to figure out how to get them to work still ..........
So in hopes to fix my stupidity I did a little research and figured out why they didn't work and how to fix it......... So my BF ' s is the s4 SGH-I337M and it's carrier locked to Fido and if I'm correct it's for non payment then there's mine which is the Note 2 SGH-I317M and it was reported lost or stolen but it was on the Rogers network. Now I'm still kind of new to this stuff but if I can get the codes for free, I can unlock mine ( the note ) I'm just not sure if his would be done the same way seeing how it's carrier locked ?? now his ( the s4 ) is going to Wind and as for mine ( the note 2 ) would be going to chatr . And last thing cause I just got a notification dialog to tell me but I guess I have to root mine ( the note 2 ) but I'm not entirely sure on how to do that as of yet..... sorry this is so big lol thought that the most info I could give you, would get me the best answer lol so if there's anyone that could help or send some kind of feed back that would be great

Ok so long story short I bought this note 7 week after being released off Craig's , and it has been sitting in a drawer since the first recall when they were exchanging them for updated notes , somehow someway thru calling Samsung and Verizon it got blacklisted as lost stolen , Verizon said Samsung did it and Samsung had no clue .. so I have a basically brand spanking new note 7 from Verizon that I want to use on T-Mobile .. I've messaged a few Imei repair companies and nobody seems to be able to fix the Verizon variant .. is there any hope or way to repair the Imei on this phone that anyone knows of ? Not sending it in so please don't say just send it to Samsung . I'll keep it in my drawer forever if need be .. haha

Imei repair is not legal and we cant talk about it in this forum but can inform that would be possible only in exynos models (afaik)
