[Q] Wi-Fi Direct?

Hi everybody, is there any possibility to use Samsung's technology called 'Wi-Fi Direct' on DHD? Or is there any alternatives for DHD (seems to me very useful feature because sharing Wi-Fi at home from laptop)
I am confused... What do you mean by WiFi direct? DHD has already a WiFi hotspot capabilities and usb tethering for internet sharing. All u need is to root your dhd or install a custom ROM and it will be enabled.
Hope that helps.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Well i think what the OP is talking about is ability to share files using Wifi between two devices like Samsung Galaxy S devices can. Its essentially similar to bluetooth but lot faster.

at nexus7, you can have both wifi and wifi direct active. so you can transfer files thru wifi-direct and at same time browse web thru wifi (router). at my samsung tab2, if you turn on wifi, it shuts down wifi-direct automatically. can both be active at OneX?
thanks

Anybody used Wifi Direct on the rooted ICS ROM? It will connect to wifi direct devices, but when you try to share media, there is no option to share via wifi direct. Im on Blue Kuban.

[Q] How to share GPRS internet of S5 to Tab S wen they are connected via WiFi Direct

I have Galaxy S5 with GPRS internet connection and Galaxy Tab S (non LTE version)
I know to use a Mobile Hotspot and it works perfectly.
My question is, when I connect S5 and Tab S via WiFi direct- the GPRS internet of the phone is not shared to Tab S.
If I try to make a Hotspot during WiFi direct connection- the WiFi direct gets disconnected.
You don't use wifi direct to share internet.
Just make hotspot with your S5, then connect your Tab S via wifi, NOT wifi direct.
I know, but I am looking for solution,
For example, when I am on places where there is no WiFi connection, but I established WiFi direct between Tablet S and S5 and I am working on the Tablet (also answering sms or phone calls from the tablet)- I want to use GPRS internet of the phone.
Sounds logical that this option should be...
May be there is some other way to do it?
Nope. You can't use Sidesync without a proper external wifi connection.
