I cannot post in the development forum yet, but I have a bug to report for the CM 10.1 ROM. If I use Snapchat, the front facing camera does not function correctly, and the Gallery application says it is not functioning correctly. After I choose to force close the Gallery, any time I try to use to the stock Camera application, it displays the 'Can't connect to Camera' error message, almost as if the Camera fix breaks. I've factory reset the ROM, wiped cache, and dalvik cache, and have even flashed it multiple times, and I can replicate the issue every single time.

I've already reported the issue to @madmack and pulled a log of the error for him. In order to restore the functionality of your camera, restart the phone. You won't be able to do SnapChat selfies, but at least you can use your camera normally.

Hi
Earlier I was on CyanogenMod 7.0.3 stable. On CoreDroid now but when I tried to use he camera in CyanogenMod it would stay blank and then the phone would restart. Very peculiar.
Also, if I tried to use an app that used the camera like the barcode scanner, that would pop up with a message that said "Cannot connect to camera" or something like that.
Any ideas on why that happened? The camera works perfectly fine on all other ROM's I have tried.
Did you perform a full wipe? System, Data, Cache, Dalvik Cache before you flashed CM7?
I float between 2-3 ROMs daily and have only seen this issue when I did not wipe fully.
Yep I always wipe with the full wipe zip (V1.5 that does ext4 too) before installing ROM's.
I know the camera isn't broken because the camera works on any rom that isn't cyanogen based. I made sure i wiped all data and cache and system before installing cyanogenmod 10 or 10.1 and I got the correct gapps too, but every time i try to load any camera app, it errors and shuts down. the integrated camera app says "cannot connect to camera" and then closes right away after opening it. How is this fixable? what am I doing wrong?
I've noticed this on other roms as well that other than the stock rom, the camera closes imediately without any force close warning or anything. I just get a black screen and it suddenly closes. I think on X3 rom or something like that (ics, LB) it worked fine but on xzxperience and other LB ics roms, the camera app didn't work.
I wiped everything (cache, dalvic, data, system) and i also "unmount /system" when flashing the rom. There's no problem with any other app except camera app. I also tried clearing the data for the camera but still doesn't work.
Any idea?
Please, there has to be something that i'm not doing. It is just the camera app that's causing the problem as other apps from market are working (camera ics etc..).
I tried to flash the cybershot zip as well but still the same results.
This is the error I get when using any camera with the exception of the front camera when using, for example the Facebook Messenger camera. I have flash stock KDZ and the problem still persists. I have tried factory reset and clearing the cache and nothing. So now that I have tried everything I must ask for help.
I've got a Redmi 1s with stock ROM. (v36.0) 4.3 JLS36C with root. Everything was working fine and I was taking some pictures. All of a sudden Camera shortcut got deleted from the Launcher. I checked the presence of Camera.apk and .odex file at /system/app and is still present there. Tried the following steps, but could not get the Camera launcher back online.
Details:
Rooted stock (version 36.0) CWM installed
Steps tried so far:
Cleared Cache
Cleared Dalvik Cache
Checked the permissions and ownership of the camera.apk.
Tried copying the camera.apk to the sdcard folder and tried installing. It prompted with a warning that the installed app will replace a system app, and on clicking install, the installation failed with an error message "installation failed"
Nothing worked.
Links2SD is installed and none of the apps are frozen.
Tried activity launcher to see if there any camera activity that can be launched, but again in vain.
Please help to get the camera back. I really like the MIUI Camera app. (For the time being, I'm using Camera ICS, Instagram and Fast Burst camera to capture some of the moments with my little one! )
Thanks in advance!
Solved it.
The app was listed in the apps, went and uninstalled all the updates, restored the factory version of the app, cleared the data and cache and voila! the app appeared on screen! Thanks for reading and the suggestions! :good:
back up ur data and hard reset ur phone and see.
if that does'nt work...reflash the latest miui rom for ur region....i should work thereafter .
