Hello,
I have recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy Nexus which has build number JRN84D.
As far as I am aware, Google phones get first of the latest Android, but i cannot get past 4.1
The phone was meant to be new but came rooted and i cannot tell if it has a custom rom installed.
If i was to put it back to stock and unroot with Nexus Root Toolkit v1.7.1 what build number should i use?
Can i use YAKJU-MAGURO: Android 4.3.0 - Build:JWR66V?
Or is there another build i have to choose, if i can't do this can i unroot my phone another way?
Thanks
Found out my product is Takju
so would i be able to use TAKJU-MAGURO: : Android 4.3.0 - Build:JWR66V?

If you are POSITIVE you have a Takju device you would want - https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#takjujwr66v
This is the factory image for Android 4.3 on Takju.
Does your phone have a custom recovery like ClockworkMod or TWRP installed?

I downloaded Android System Info went into System and then build infos Product takju
and the fingerprint is also google/takju
I do not have Google Wallet though and i cannot download it.
No custom recovery installed just want it back to stock as i bought it new and when i received it i found out was rooted
Takju and yakju doesn't matter. Takju has google wallet pre installed and receives ota updates earlier. So you're safe to flash either one of them... I flashed takju on my yakju gnex and it works like a charm.

Don't use the toolkit. Learn and use the proper procedure. Using the toolkit is just inviting problems, problems that are hard to diagnose if the proper procedure isn't used.
Toolkits sound easy and friendly but for the sake of humanity, do not use them. I tried it out for sh*ts and gigs and I had a harder time figuring it out than using Fastboot. Avoid at all costs. Fastboot!

Hi,
Here it is ...
My Galaxy Nexus (GSM), retail version, official 4.0.2 is virgin No change, no modification, no fastboot-unlocked.
So, anyone have a clear instruction how to flash the official 4.0.4 image that just been released?
I don't plan to install any custom ROM, nor recovery. At least for now.
My system at home is Windows 7, 64 bit.
Thanks.

I am not going to answer this as a simple search will give you answers to all the questions you have. There are tons of threads here with the info you need, just do a little searching.
If you don't understand how to do it after reading all the info, then perhaps you shouldn't...
Not trying to sound like a ****, but one should already have searched before making a new thread in the wrong forum to ask a noob question.
Swyped from my GNex on 4.0.4 AOKP b29 using XDA Premium.
You're phone needs to be "yakju" in order to flash the latest update.
Instructions should be laying around here somewhere.
Otherwise, wait for the carrier to push it to you.

I would reccomend you use the Gnex Toolkit, it is very self explanatory. Use it to flash the 4.0.4 factory image.

Any phone can be easily changed to yakju and you only need to be yakju to receive the 4.0.4 OTA as of now. If you flash it manually using the factory images any gsm galaxy nexus can be on 4.0.4.

Just use Nexus Root Toolkit 1.5.2. Follow the steps from the below link. After its done you will directly get OTA to 4.1.1 Jelly Bean .

no. just no.
do not use a toolkit. its super simple to convert any GSM device to yakju/takju.
if the OP wants to be on 4.1.1, he can covert using this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895
Hi mate, I have the same unit with you, I am based on the middle east and my initial build was "yakjujp"
what I did:
1.) look for this galaxy nexus toolkit which makes you do everything and I mean everything.
2.) Install it to your laptop or pc.
3.) Download the images for yakju jellybean 4.1.1
4.) Unlock bootloader, root your yakjujp which is still on 4.0.4, ok?
5.) flash JB with the toolkit (do some little effort in making this galaxy nexus toolkit work with your phone and computer.
6.) look for this recovery.zip and flash it to fix the root for your converted device from yakjujp to yakju.
7.) Profit
Try this
Go to setting /apps/all/Google services framework .
And clear data
Then go to system update and try to update several times
It may work

I have the same yakjujp version ..
Goto Settings > About phone > System updates > After download > Select 'Install now'
It'll reboot into recovery mode and you'll see a red triangle!
then press Vol-Up + Power - do not hold buttons only press them slightly
Also try Vol Up+Down+Power if u cant get to recovery again and again
then use Vol-Up/Down and Power button to select from menu..
Install update from Cache/Update
Done!
Tell me if it works ..
I have actually converted to yakju using efrant's method, and enjoying the jb.....
Thanks everyone.......

Don't accept it. You can't take an OTA when you're on a custom ROM.
You need to flash yakju or takju 4.0.4 (with the corresponding boot, radio and recovery images), then you can accept and install the update.

Well flashing back to stock yakju or takju will completely wipe the device and he'll have to wait to be notified again.

Rooted doesn't matter. Custom recovery, system file changes (fonts, mods, etc.), and radio changes do matter and all stop you from being able to accept and auto-install an OTA.
If you're on yakjuwx though, you won't be notified for a 4.1 update. There's no 4.1 OTA rolling out for yakjuwx yet. If for some reason it has the 4.1 OTA from before saved in /cache and it tries to notify you, it won't work, because that OTA is meant for yakju 4.0.4 devices.
If you want to be on stock 4.1.1, you need to flash your phone to yakju/takju 4.0.4 and wait for the OTA or flash the OTA package yourself.

The Nexus is just about impossible to brick. Just make sure you follow the steps properly and you'll be fine.
To convert to yakju (or takju if you want Google Wallet preinstalled), follow this guide: [HOW-TO] [GSM & CDMA] Convert to latest yakju/takju/mysid (incl JB) / Return to stock
DO NOT USE A TOOLKIT. For God's sake please just read and learn how to do it. Then the next time you need to mess with your phone you'll actually have some knowledge of how it works. If you have a specific question, I'd be extremely surprised if it hasn't been asked before. You should search first, then post in that thread or post a new one with your specific issue.

if you have an unlocked bootloader you can flash the stock images via fastboot. don't flash all together. Flash the bootloader then radio finally the image(make sure you remove the userdata.img from the image.zip). this is exactly what I did and I now have 4.3 and didn't lose a single bit of my app data.

There is a [Q] tag, so it goes there.
And regarding OTAs, just wait for it, nothing major..

You're seriously asking this? I didn't know we had google employees in xda. Why not just download the flash able image from the Google developers website and save time from making a post that's useless. Also someone can't make an OTA. Only google can.

Yeah, I wait and I wait and I wait. =) That's why I asked about this method.
But also with the OTA, there is a chance that is will not work to flash since there might be some stuff I have done to the /system.
That was the case the for me with the 4.2.2 update, and I needed to use the Google Factory Image, and reset my internal memory and all that (I didn'n know about methods to NOT reset the internal memory then).
Strange there are no flashable .zip's that are complete stock with only some kind of root added. Just stock, that should work to update to next version, like 5.0, with OTA then. Or is there?
EDIT: I found this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2016452
Can someone please tell me if there was some new bootloader or radio or something like that, that I need to update more then using pure stock - odexed - UNTOUCHED?
/Söder
Hi all,
I have recently gotten a Galaxy Nexus and have been trying to run the update for 4.2.2 and whenever it restarts to update, it goes to the android lying on it's back with it's stomach open and a red triangle with exclamation mark in it. I'm pretty sure it hasn't been rooted (no SU installed, another way to check?) and I have done a bit of searching but haven't really found anything that doesn't require the use of ADB etc to fix this, so I wanted to check if that is the only way to get the update on.
Here's some info about the phone:
SIM Unlocked
Current ROM: 4.1.1
Baseband: I9250UGKL1
Current Build: JRO03C
Product Name: Tuna
Variant: Maguro
HW Version: 9
Bootloader Version: PRIMEKK14
Lock state: Unlocked
Apologies if I have missed some obvious bit of info somewhere and thank you in advance for pointing me in the right direction.
Thanks!
