I am using a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S4 with Wicked v5.1 Rom, and I have consistently experienced an issue with the updated YouTube app. Every time I watch a video in landscape mode and then turn it into portrait mode, a black bar appears between the status bar and the YouTube search bar. The bar doesn't go away even in landscape mode. The only way to make it go away is to exit the app, but the black bar always comes back. It really is quite annoying. I know that others have the same issue as I do because of what I have read on the Internet. Does anyone have any suggestions? I really hope that Google fixes this.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks!
I love the new UI.
But is it the latest version?

As of yesterday when it was released.
I've noticed similar problem with this version as well. You can see it on top of the title/menu bar.

I should mention that I've tried other roms like GE and they don't have that problem. I think it's TW related.
Here is the before and after the portrait/landscape/portrait turns.

Both old and new versions have the same fck bug. Its ridiculous. A version before those 2 was fine....
I am on infamous roms and when in landscape mode I can't even view the seek/status bar! I have to go to portrait making it smaller then tap the vid box again to see how far through a vid I am or seek back and forth... I read one other review on Google apps play market so I know it's not just my rom, but there must be something up with the gs3 not letting me view this bar all the time.

Whenever I use this YouTube version the only way I can go into fullscreen is by having screen rotate on and flipping the phone, double tapping doesn't work what so ever... I've tried on stock bell rom and all versions of kyan rom

Why does Google do such weird things all the time? I know other people have to think the same thing about why they design an OS the way they do. For instance clicking the clock in the status bar takes u to time settings instead of clock or calendar(when we all have auto time enabled)? And I'm pretty sure(at least I hope) its a bug, but the stupid new camera rotation is beyond dumb. And why they took the so much fun camera effects out, I may never know... I do love Google but just question their Dev team sometimes... sometimes a lot
But that is why we have these wonderful devs across the forums. I can't thank you guys/gals enough!!!!

I have to ask, why would you need to click on a clock to take you to another clock?

LOL Maybe he means alarm settings which is inside clock app

The slow camera rotation is intentional. The Android Dev team spoke about it. As for camera effects, I don't know how many people actually used them. Sure, Mac users seem to use them quite a bit, but I don't know about Android users.

Yea I meant alarms.. Lol. Or even clock app would be smart
Why on EARTH would u want camera lag when changing the phone orientation... Then u end up missing Ur shot!
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
The rotation lag doesn't bug me too much. It usually takes a second or less to rotate. I usually know what orientation I want my picture to be, so I'll press the camera app in that orientation.

Just lock rotation when you want to use your camera, if you are using a rom with toggle rotation it wont be that hard to press a toggle.
I personally always disabled rotation, and only enabled it when i want to use it.

Another thing that bothers me is app drawer. the black background is still stuck in the Gingerbread era.
If I lock rotation to to a pic in landscape its going to take the picture in portrait but I guess u could just rotate it in the gallery... But still useless as fuhk. I'd rather deal with the lag of swiping to my pictures than the actual camera itself... Come one Google... You're better than this... Back to 4.1 camera I am

IMO the black background is nice to quickly identify icons. U know u can always use third party launchers to change that..

Hello everyone. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this situation. The very annoying bug I have is that the browser is often in full screen mode. I am referring to the stock browser. I'm on the latest UBDM3 rom from Samsung. Rooted with custom recovery but it did this before I installed the recovery.
I'm not sure if I remember having this bug before on previous builds. But my suspicion is that I didn't.
I can get the notification bar to show up and stay if I go into the browser settings and toggle full screen on then off in labs. But it will eventually go back to full screen again.
Yeah I noticed that buy in chrome.
It used to go into full screen on it's own.

I haven't noticed it in Chrome myself but I also haven't used chrome in a while. I prefer the stock browser for those quick controls. I'm surprised more people haven't noticed or care about this. I think it's annoying not being able to access the notification bar unless you swipe and eventually bring it down.
Hi, everything about the new update of the youtube app is just fine expect for this silly problem regarding full-screen (landscape) and smallscreen (portrait mode). Whenever I am in full screen mode my 'scrolling bar' (the bottom action bar) gets completely lost, so that I have to retract to portrait mode in order to see it and forward the video to my liking. But that is very impractical when it comes to long videos because the bar is quite small.
Take a look at the screen shots for better understanding
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance and sorry if this is a dumb question.

It could just be a rom issue then if anything you can try Team Black Out's inverted version of the app, as that is the one I use and I have no problems with it :fingers-crossed:
nope it didn't fix it, tomorrow I shall try a different rom and see if that's the problem. BUT I didn't know about this 'inverted apps' thing, just what I wanted! Great suggestion, thanks! I guess they work just add the original apps and only the color is changed right? no battery issues or anything?

what I did was uninstall the old youtube app then went to the play store and looked for Team Black Out as they have multiple apps inverted available, then in their app just download the youtube app in a .zip file that you have to flash in recovery. Yes they only changed the color and no my battery remained the same I think glad I could help!
so I changed ROMs and everything is working fine now, for anyone else with the same problem

I don't think this is a ROM issue, I think it's a YouTube issue. I'm on a stock S3 and have the same problem.
