For some reason I've been having an issue with mobile data ceasing to function after enabling then disabling Wifi.
I'm on Ting an MVNO of Sprint. Shouldn't make much of a difference but has anyone had this problem?
If I reboot, mobile data works, right up until I toggle Wifi on and off.

Another observation. If I toggle Network Mode from CDMA+LTE/EVDO and then back again mobile data function will restore. So now I've found a way to avoid a necessary reboot, but still, wondering why this is happening.

What did you do? I'm also using Ting and have a Samsung Galaxy SIII running CM10.2. I have no data and not sure how to configure APNs..
This Ting help forum has a download that worked for me with CM. LTE working fine now.

Thanks for the post, though I solved the issue as well two days ago. I'll post my thread here just incase some other poor soul wanders in with the same issues as I.

I fixed it by flashing a new ROM and wiping all the data!
Someone please help! I don't know what to do!
Nevermind, I think I fixed it!
I fixed it by changing the band to GSM Preferred/GSM ALL but now I only get E. Any way I can get back 4g?
Change it back to automatic or Odin kl1 modem from rootzwiki team kang post.

I changed it to auto, and i'm getting signal. Time to check if 4g. Thanks.
EDIT: It shows signal, but Im not getting any. Can't send text or browse web. Time to odin modem.
I flashed it, and I went to settings and looked at the network mode: It was GSM only. I changed it to auto mode. It seems to still get and send texts, and I looked at band selection with the dialer code, and there wasn't a star besides anything. I think it might've worked, but I still only get e.
By flashed I mean odined. Lol

I tried changing it to automatic in the band selection menu, and it showed signal, but texts didn't send.

I had same issue and this is how I fixed it.
disable data connection and switch your phone off, remove the back cover and remove sim card completely. Then re-insert sim card and turn your phone back on and it should ask you to re-enable data connection once it boots up.
let me know if this helps

Other phones receive 3G? Perhaps T-Mobile is servicing your area? This has happened to me but I had no control over it.

Here's what I did that messed with my 3G
I flashed skyrocket roms.
So what I did was wipe everything. Go to mounts and storage and format system. Then flash Juggernaut or any other rom you desire. Then you're done

You need to restore wifi calling settings via titanium backup. If u don't have, download a stock rom ands pull the apk from there

I was getting error ER05 and REG99 earlier today. I was able to get it working by disabling wifi calling (i had to wait a few seconds while it was trying to enable and was finally able to uncheck the box). Next i disabled wireless networking, then shutdown the phone pulled the battery out. Once the phone was off, I did reset my router, but I'm not sure whether the router is a factor. Once the router was back up i put the phone back together and turned on wireless, then enabled wifi calling. Worked with no errors. Before it started working, I did chat online with "support" and they said there were no outages in my area and that i should call tech support. My router is a Linksys WRT54GL
I experienced the problem of no data connection after flashing a new rom on my Optimus G. The phone needs to be reprogrammed, updating your PRL and Profile will NOT help. You must dial ##72786# this will start the handsfree activation and your phone will reboot a few times. It may take a few seconds in between steps of the activation and it will seem like nothing is happening. Just be patient and wait for everything to complete. When it is finished your phone's data connection will be working properly.

Some history,
I've been running Imperium and stockishv1 and v2 for a few days. I've made a couple backups along the way. About an hour ago I lost data. The phone works and makes calls, but my data is dead.
I've tried update profile and prl, and all I get is" Network error" I've tried this many times throughout all these steps.
I've restored backups, pre-Imperium and Stockishv1 with the same results.
I tried the procedure in this thread and still nothing.
Anybody have any other ideas? Would LGNPST restore the phones modem?

I killed the connection optimizer while I was at work because I can't use work's wifi and listen to my icecast station I setup.
This killed my data connection and immediately put my phone into roaming. I rebooted like three times and finally my data came back (i also updated the PRL and the Profile, not sure which fixed it but something did)
From the things you guys speak of, I would guess the same issue is at hand.
ALSO: Stock rooted rom (non-deodex pure stock with bloatware frozen with titanium)

Try the G2 thread, I'm sure if you post in the exact same section over there you might have better results. General answer is that it is probably APN settings. Find an app, enter them, set it, and reboot (might not need to reboot).

I Can't find a thread about this, so I was go ogling and that doesn't really help. I am having major problems with my wifi it keeps dropping non stop and it's really annoying. Maybe it's your router or better yet the router settings. Have you tried changing any of those settings?
Am I missing something? How is it a Samsung thing? What kind of router do you have?

After looking all night I found a thread that fixed this. You have two choices really to fix or buy your router which I'm not going to do, or you can type in on your dial pad *#0011#. Then you click your menu button, click on the wifi option, and then disable the energy saver wifi mode. That made it so my phone wouldn't drop wifi connection anymore. NOTE: each time you restart your phone you need to turn the wifi energy saver off through the command *#0011#. Hope I helped some of you because this bug is truly annoying.

That stinks. I don't have any problem and I think this is only the 2nd time I've seen anything posted like this about the S4 (the S3 did have that issue and was common). I've never turned off any energy saver and mine stays connected 100% of the time. So you're saying either that or you have to buy a new router? What kind do you have now and what settings on it did you find out that cause this issue for you?
Right now I have whatever Verizon gives fios customers. It works perfectly for all my phones, tablets, and computer. Just not on my s4 unless I do the dial pad trick. I'll post a link on the xda thread when I get home on how to fix your router. It really does make me angry that I paid 600 for the phone and it does this. Hopefully Samsung fixes this soon since they acknowledge the problem
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app

My gf has an S4 and has the same problem. We have a Netgear WNDR3500. So it's not isolated to a D-Link. She also did the dial pad trick and it seems to work for her as well. Need to find a script to run on boot to set the power save to OFF.

Yea. The only Roms will flash fine no boot loop or anything. I just have no mobile data. I'm on miui v5 and everything works. But I want axis back.

Are you flashing a custom kernel also? If so try just the rom and see if you have mobile
Making the iPhone jealous one user at a time.
No custom kernals just whatever comes with the ROM. Now I did forget to mention I wiped internal SD at one point so I'm not sure if that wiped out my modem. However miui works fine as far as mobile data but then I wipe and try to flash axis and no data.

As asked before, does dialing *#06# show your IMEI?
Yes. I'm running miui and everything works great but if I flash any other ROM I get data for a few seconds then it goes away. I tried mobile networks then switching from auto to manual and selecting T-Mobile. One thing I did notice is on miui the APN is fast.T-Mobile.com on the others is epc.T-Mobile.com however data works on either one with miui but not with any other ROM. I've tried hyperdrive rls 15 and 16 axis and dandroid. Haven't tried any asop Roms because I use multi window a lot and I would like to use a ROM that has it.

Okay this time I think I got it figured out. Looks like I had to change the apn settings. It was set to epc.tmobile.com I just copied down the settings from miui which were fast.t-Mobile.com and changed the apn to T-Mobile US LTE now everything works and the signal bar says 4glte but I think I'm just getting 4g. But I flashed hyper drive and no I issues at all.
