stuck on google boot logo-verizon - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Im on verizon Toro, tried flashing the illusion rom, and now im stuck on the google boot logo. Im unlocked as well..I tried using the tool kit but I cant get into adb because the phone wont boot up, also it booted to the illusion screen and then reverted back to the google logo....need help...
Thanks

Did you wipe prior to flashing? Did you flash anything else with it?
Can you get into the bootloader? If so, can you get into custom recovery?

You could use adb in your custom recovery to remedy that.
But you didn't answer my other question, did you wipe prior to flashing? If not, that may be your problem.
The ROM should have instructions on how to install it, if you are unsure.

Help

first, sorry if this is the wrong section.
my phone right now is stuck booting to the white htc evo screen, sitting for a second, then rebooting back the the white screen, and just looping like that.
before it started doing that, i was on my phone, with bootmanager, i installed jared's ics rom to a slot, and then i booted to it. the install of the gapps wasnt quite working correctly, so i was gonna install it to the phone then nadroid, then put it in a slot. so i when straight from my slot 1 rom, to recovery, flashed the phonerom update.zip then did a backup of my phonerom before installing the ics rom. after doing the backup, i installed the new rom, and gapps, hit reboot, and now im looping.
thats the best description of my situation, i really hope someone can help out, if any more information is needed, let me know
thanks in advance
-Alex
I would best do a full wipe and restore a backup if possible, then try to reconfigure bootmanager. Did you check that 'flash large boot.img' option?
i cannot get into recovery, i forgot to mention that. is there a way to do that over adb? i have nands and roms on my computer
thanks for quick reply

As an it just keeps rebooting when you try to go to the bootloader?
And well the only way is if you were to extract the boot image of a working rom, and flashed it using fastboot; and no problem.
i can get into bootloader, but not recovery. and i dont think i have any .img's

What happened when you choose recovery? Have to tried re-flashing a recovery?
Also, extract a rom zip, then copy the boot.img from that rom into your adb tools folder. From the bootloader, select fastboot, connect to pc, from adb run:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot reboot
i was thinking i should try flashing a recovery, but i didnt know if that would mess it up. when i select recovery, it does the same bootloop. im gonna try that with fastboot
tried that with fastboot, and no dice. gonna find a recovery and flash it, see what happens
actually, i pushed the boot.img, now its booting the ics rom, which is not the boot.img that i pushed

The boot may have been corrupted and went with the old rom.
Well see if you can get into recovery, do a full wipe > new rom > re-try bootmananger.
it didnt boot successfully, but now i can get into recovery. its still acting a little strange. like i just did a wipe and factory reset, and it still tried to boot into the ics rom? maybe its messing up cause of bootmanager. idk.
im gonna flash a new recovery. i try to boot into the recovery, and it goes to white screen, then reboots, and goes into the rom
i cant get anything to work/stick, i flashed a recovery (cwm) and it looked like it was gonna work, then i couldnt flash something on my sd, it said it couldnt find it. so confused

any chance of a link?
nvm, its just under the cwm links on the page i found earlier

No problem man.
i cant get cache to unmount in recovery, and i cant get the phone to hold a recovery, i have to keep flashing via fastboot

{full proof method of not getting bricked cause of battery}

as i have seen many threads stating that in the custom recovery one cannot charge the phone, so i thought why not use the stock recovery after flashing the rom!!
1. i flashed a custom rom in the custom recovery
2. after the first boot, i went to the hboot and flashed the stock recovery
3.restarted the phone and booted back to the custom rom, no reboots, no hangs what so ever, rom booted normally
4. switched my phone off from the bootloader to check if it works and voila it is charging !!!!
5.to flash a custom Rom just flash a custom recovery in the fastboot
i do know that you have to flash a recovery every time you flash a custom rom but till a proper fix is found it is better to do this than depend on your luck
Edit: (credits to cpv5 for this info)Make sure you don't go to recovery when you're on stock recovery as it will wipe everything on your phone & virtual sdcard and you will be back to setup screen again.

even better is that once you have done the OTA update to 1.28 you get the new Hboot which can boot properly so you never have to replace the stock recovery. just fastboot boot recovery.img if you need to change rom or nandroid
I dont think that the 1.28 Hboot has fixed the fastboot boot commands...
You can fastboot boot a recovery? not just a boot.img?

Very interesting, seems to be working for recoveries here as well (s-on unlocked hboot 0.94).
I'm really interested if this works properly for zImages as well. I thought PaulOBrein was working with htc for a solution for this "fastboot boot" though? Maybe some parts ain't working?
This is a great tip, thanks!
and is it just me, or does adb work when fastboot booting clockwork with the stock recovery flashed?!

Has a question here, how do we flash stock recovery in hboot? I only know the way of flashing stock recovery via fastboot with the command of "fastboot flash recovery [recovery name].img*
Is my way wrong or there is some other way?

Because the stock recovery doesn't have menu like the CWM recovery, so once you choose recovery, the recovery process will run. Not like the CWM recovery, you need to choose which function to run.
So two things can happens when you go to recovery when you're on stock recovery:
1) the recovery will runs and wipe everything on your phone (I tested this)
2) the recovery will runs and there is error where you see the phone logo with red triangle, then you need to shutdown and restart to your current ROM.

[Q] rom issue

Hello, I've recently acquired the htc one x from a friend, i came from the sensation. I was trying to do some rom jumping today and put myself into a bit of a pickle.
what you alls need to know is that i accidently deleted the back ups. and now i have no roms to flash and none installed. I can get to twrp and mount to usb, but on the computer end it says i need to format disk before I can do anything. Since that's not really an option I seem to be stuck with no roms and no way to get a rom on it. I would like to put clean 5.0 back on and stick with that until i can better grasp the adb process on the one x. Any help would be appreciated, thank you -

ok, i'll take it from the top- turn on phone into bootloader. I can no longer get to recovery. I have tried flashing twrp to no avail. when i reset it will go to cleanrom and bootloop. I need to completely reset and re install recovery and rom. just can't get it working for some reason
fastboot erase cache
Go recovery and erase the cache and dalvik cache.
i would but now recovery goes to boot loop, even after i try and flash recovery (twrp and cwm)
fastboot erase cache
i have erased cashe in fastboot through one x tool kit and fastboot flasher. now it goes to the rom and the rom crashes and re boots. :/ how can i wipe and re install rom through fastboot?
also if i click recovery it goes to white htc screen with red dev warning text, then loops
I don't know. I don't know what your tool is doing.
Have you tried reflashing latest recovery? I recommend clockworkmod 5.8.4.0.
is that for gsm ? mine is att version, dk if that matters here
Oh FFS.
You're asking questions about a dual core snapdragon phone in a forum for a quad core Tegra3 based phone and you only wonder out loud now whether that matters?
Yes. Yes it does.
Now go ask questions about your phone in the forum for your phone before you break it.

[Q] Wiped OS & TWRP installs Failed

So I had 4.4 stock TouchWiz, then installed TWRP recovery and CM11. Then I wanted back to stock again but TWRP doesn't seem to want to flash anything. It just says Failed. Tried wiping everything, ended up wiping the OS... just trying to get stock back going.
You have the i747 or i747m?
Twrp cannot flash a stock ROM unless that ROM was compiled to be flashed in twrp.
If you have the 4.3 or 4.4.2 bootloader, do not attempt to downgrade the bootloader.
What bootloader is on your phone?

Sorry, i747 AT&T version.
How do I tell which bootloader I have? When I try to boot it looks stock, just stays on the s3 logo. When I boot into download mode it's a Cyanogen guy.
Last working version of ROM I had was TouchWiz-based 4.1. I found on here but I did have CM11 and stock 4.4. before that.
Did you update your phone via OTA to get to 4.4.2? It's important to know so we can give guidance in terms of what can and cannot be flashed to your phone.
What cyanogen guy do you see in download? You mean the green Android dude?
Do this: copy CM10.2 to your external SD card, boot into TWRP and flash the ROM from the external SD card. If the flash is successful but the ROM gets stuck at the boot animation, boot into TWRP and wipe the cache, dalvik, and reboot.
Sorry for such a late reply! Been messing with other stuff lately, not enough time for my phone..
Anyhow,

Yes, I did update to 4.4.2 OTA.
When I boot into download it says bootloader rp swrev 3. When I said earlier I thought I had the cyanogen guy when booting into download mode I had it wrong. Download mode is still just the Android guy. I was talking about recovery which I have TWRP, with the Cyanogen guy (?).
When I just try to reboot the phone regularly it gets stuck on the SIII logo.
I tried installing CM10 like you said from my SD card and the install fails.
Any other ideas of what I can try?
Thanks!!
OK I installed CM11 and that's working.
At least I have a working ROM.
Originally the only reason I tried going back to stock from CM11 was so that I could have access to Galaxy Apps for my Gear 2.
I will fool with going back to stock later possibly.
Thanks again for your help, audit13.

Not related to your original post but if you dig enough you can probably find a form of Galaxy Apps that'll work on CM11! Or you could possibly rip the APK and get it to work.
This may work for you, but I don't own a Gear 2 so I'm not 100% sure.

I'd make a full wipe and restore backup or flash another rom. I would also check md5 of the rom before flashing just in case its a bad download.

Then wipe everything and try to reflash recovery and if that doesn't work then only option u have is use a RUU and go all stock. And start from scratch
Nothing I have tried seems to work. I cannot get recovery to flash nor can I get RUU to flash. I am not sure what I am doing wrong and cannot seem to get anything to recognize my phone properly. does anyone have a good step by step to follow because I am now officially lost.
Does it matter that I am S-on instead of S-off?
Put the phone in fastboot and try the RUU again
Wanted to leave a thanks , the Ruu actually worked after i learned I needed to relock the device.
