[Solved] Messed up my phone accidentally ... - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Hello,
I was about to install the Beanstalk 4.3 ROM to my T-Mobile Galaxy Sll so I was following there Installation Instructions until I got to step 4... I had downloaded TWRP for the first time today and made a backup with it but I also used it to wipe out my whole Internal SD. That deleted all the ROMs I have and since I deleted everything they asked for my Galaxy Sll only gets to the Samsung logo and then goes black. I forgot about the backup so I instantly went and watched the "How to Unbrick Samsung Galaxy S2 / S ll T989 T-Mobile Phone" and before I realized my phone had changed recovery to CWM instead of TWRP and it seems as if each Recovery makes its own backups so I can't use the backup I made with TWRP in CWM.
I was gonna ask if there was a program in which I can transfer files without turning the device on. Maybe I can go into download mode with my phone and use ODIN some sort of way and pass a file? or install TWRP through ODIN? If this is possible someone please mention me the steps. I'm really worried at the moment any advice would be appreaciated.

Step one calm down!
Step two yes you can use Odin to install twrp
Step three read the stickies

[Q] new to xda; how do I flash using Rogue CWM?

Hi, I've been trying to flash my Epic 4G Touch for days now but after 2 nights without sleeping, including right now at 3:56am,
I still haven't found out how to do so. I've been searching and found a website to root and flash my recovery, I'm using Team-Rogue CWM Recovery, I used
Odin3Execution x1.81 to install my rooted EL29 stock ROM which works but I can't seem to flash no matter where I place the files on my phone.
I have another Odin that I found online called Odin3 v182 that has a lot more stuff on it like: pda, bootloader, phone, csc, etc. but I don't know what it's for.
I'm completely new at this so VERY detailed steps would be AMAZINGLY appreciated, and I could actually go to sleep...-_-...drowsy...
I would definitely follow this thread, it will make everything alot easier for you!

I am confused as well, how are you in xda under the Epic Touch and you seem to be using flashing methods from other sites. No need to be confuse everything you want is in development and look at the stickys on top and the wiki page for a breakdown of everything Epic Touch...

It seems like you are making the simple thing much complicated.
1. There are two different ways flashing the Rom. Using Rogue recovery is one and another one is using odin.
2. If you want to use the Rogue, you must place the rom zip file into your internal SD card or external. You can find out many rooted zip files from the development section.
3. Using odin also not that difficult. For this, you need to download the one-click self-extract package exe file. These files also available from the development section. Download it to your PC, execute it from PC. It will create a foler name 'odin'. Connect your phone to pc thru micro usb and put the phone into download mode (vol down + power at the same time). run the program from pc. click the vol up button to continue. If odin program from your pc shows the com port, then just click the 'start' button from pc.
Maybe it's your first time flashing the rom. So, it may looks complicated, but actually it's simple steps once you are used to these steps. So, choose the method first - zip or odin. Select the rom from development section and check the instruction for that specific rom. Just follow the instruction on the same page where the downloadable file provided.
For any more questions, please don't hesitate.
Thanks for replying

I got some sleep last night and mind mind is clear now...phew...
I'm sorry I just tried flashing last night and got hanged on the galaxy s2 logo, also forgot to create a nandroid, but I just reinstalled my stock EL29 with root and I'm going to try again.
Here's what I did wrong:
1.download ROM/kernel
2.move the ROM/kernel .zip file into external_sd on my phone
3.go to CWM recovery and select install zip from sd card
4.proceeded with the flash, as well as Zedomax V3 kernel flash, and got
hanged on the boot logo.
5.reinstall stock EL29 with root
6.now I'm here...lol
What do I do to prevent hanging up the phone again or even worse bricking?

I honestly having been reading into this for about a whole week straight, 7 day week, and I slept only 2 of those days because people were being vague about their instructions so I couldn't seem to even transfer the files into my external_sd card in .zip format. The files kept showing as individual files where you could enter each and every one of them but not able to use them.
I barely got it this morning, to flash, but then I got hung up on the boot and had to reinstall the EL29 stock w/root and now I'm going to try and use a different ROM and actually CLEAR the cache, davik cache, and data. Plus backup using the Nandroid in Team Rogue CWM and titanium backup.
I still don't know exactly why it got hung up though so if you know I'd be really grateful!
I'll try it this time

Thanks, I'll do that.
Anything else you know about why I'm hanging up at the boot logo I'd appreciate it!
Currently kernel may not support the Zedomax.
Did you try odin method to apply the flash the new kernel?
(Be careful to put the right file to the right place for odin. Putting files to wrong place could be a reason of bricked phone)
One question - Is there any reason that you are trying to flash Zedomax kernel? It seems like it's quite outdated...
You can reference the thread -

LOL! I thought Zedomax V3 was the latest kernel! XD haha
That just proves that I have no idea what I'm doing..
I'm actually to afraid to use odin to to the "accidental" bricking amount that's happened, from what I've read there's a lot of them.
I'm planning on doing the flash right now, just finished backing up on titanium backup, and I just transferred the ROM on my phone.
Did I place it correctly?
I connected the phone using USB mass storage and open the file explorer to view my phones files then I opened "External_SD" which was empty and placed my ROM there.

[Q] Broken Clockwork Mod Recovery

Noob alert.. Can someone help?
It only boots into Stock Android recovery. I want to try to get through this without going to Sprint.
Can't boot into Clockwork recovery. Mobile Odin won't discover "any" apk files (neither internal or external storage), so it goes without saying, I can't flash given I can't see the files with Mobile Odin. I already tried to restore a back up of my system & apps with through Titanium BU, but no good.
The good news is that I can still download and install root apps. The phone boots up and works fine otherwise.
Do a search for team epic recovery for gs III.then follow those instructions... Sorry can't do more for you as I only have 1x right now ... Google is your friend...

I have to report back on this - as I went to Team Epic and downloaded the CWN recovery file and then couldn't get the Android recovery to come up any more. It's so temperamental!
After some pain and trying things I finally thought I'd try ROM Manager and clicked on the 1st menu item to flash the firmware. An amazing relief came over me as it completed! I was healed (so was my phone - good as new!).

[Q] How to go from 4.0.3 Jedi Mind Trick to Cyanogenmod 10.0.0 Stable Release

Hello all just bought a new Samsung Galaxy SII from craigslist already rooted with 4.0.3 Jedi Mind Trick. After reading for what seems 4-5 hours i have been trying to put together how to properly without bricking switching it to 10.0.0 Stable as i use to use Cyanogenmod 2-3 years ago on my devices. Seem alot of things have changed and there is a cluster**** of stuff out there now. If you could direct me to a how to or show me how to do it i would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks all!
Assuming you have nothing personal to back up that you can't just download from google play or your google account again: download cyanogen 10 and it's gapps. reboot into recovery mode. factory reset, wipe data, wipe system, wipe cache, wipe dalvik. pick the install zip from sd card or so option, browse to cyanogen, then install gapps the same way. wipe dalvik again and reboot.
I was thinking of doing this myself JMT to CM10. I didn't think there was anything special to do same as flashing from any other ROM to CM10. If there is a special requirement I would think they'd post in in with the ROM post information.

honestly - i backed up everything to my external and then formatted the internal when i went from TW to AOSP for the last time. well worth it. nice folder clean up and then you can just manually take all the stuff you want back.
and you should just be able to odin on cwm or twrp - then flash the rom of your choice.

If you get stuck at the boot logo, it's called a soft brick. You don't have to use ODIN or go back to ICS. Just make sure the ROM zip you downloaded isn't corrupt (check the size/m5d if possible), wipe everything, and reboot into recovery to try installing again.

You won't fail. Follow the guidelines step by step. Print it out, make notes. Anything. Read. The step by step guide works... that'll get you with cwm. Then, you can flash the zip you will put on your phone... either a SU zip or just a rooted ROM. Follow flashing instructions.
Just realized - you'll be way better off if, once you have cwm on, just format the internal ONCE YOU HAVE A ROM ON AN EXTERNAL SD CARD. then flash CM10. THEN you'll have a fresh AOSP install.

Update your recovery to twrp or cwm 6+ and don't use dark side scripts
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
Please excuse my harshness but this is not as hard as many make it seem. I would say if it takes you more than a couple attempts maybe it is just not for you. I only say this because I would hate to see you mess up your phone. Now if you think a bootloop is a brick then we need to do things at a slower pace with you.
If you already have your phone rooted then
1.download goomanager from the playstore and then
2.open it up and allow it to grant permission from CM
3.hit menu button while goo manager is open
4.click on install OpenRecoveryScript
5.let it do its thing
6.reboot into your new TWRP recovery
7.Wipe/Data Factory Reset
8.Flash Rom
9.Flash Gapps
10.Reboot
You can throw in a backup of files somewhere in there if you like.... Your choice

I had a bootloop when using CWM v6.0.1.5. So a friend of mine told me he had success with CWM v6.0.1.5 Touch. So I switched to the touch recovery and... SUCCESS.
Here's the link to CWM touch and non-touch:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1893464
A boot loop could mean a bad download or bad flash but it is most definitely NOT a bricked device. All you needed to do was get a fresh download and move it to your SD card by mounting it in recovery. Then, wipe EVERYTHING but the SD. EVERYTHING. Then flash the ROM, Gapps and whatever radio. I go from CM to AOKP to other random TW roms all the time and never have issues.
The 2 best recoveries are twrp or my favorite because I'm used to it is cwm 6.0.1.5. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1844637
Also if your phone boot loops don't freak out' just either reboot to see if that works out first and if not reboot into recovery. Also with these new recoveries do not use dark side scripts.
Factory reset
Format system
Format cache
Format data
Flash ROM
Flash gapps
Reboot and enjoy

Sorry for the necro on the thread, but I didn't want it to be stated I didn't look around some either.
I am going from JMT to CM and want to make sure it's as seamless as possible. I use CWM and usually usually use darkside complete wipes, but I read in a previous post not to use darkside. Is there a reason for this? I can't see why this wouldn't work as it's just a wipe.
Also I use Titanium Backup. Is it possible to backup my apps and data and restore them since its not TW any longer? I want to be able to restore as much of my data as possible and make sure I don't lose it.
P.S. - If thread necroing is not appreciated, I apologize.

So I'm pretty sure I bricked my Galaxy SIII[ Desperately need help]

So I'm fairly certain I bricked my phone(It keeps freezing at the Samsung Galaxy SIII Logo) I can get my phone into to download mode, and into the clockwork recovery mod. It bricked after I tried to use mobile odin to install 4.1.2. Normal odin wasn't working and would say it failed, so I tried to use mobile odin like a fool. Samsung kies won't identify my phone, and I don't know where to find stock firmware to use with odin. I'm sorry if I'm leaving out any details, but I don't know what all you guys would need to know.
With a desperate please and thank you,

download rom manager and install cwm recovery. then download whatever rom you want put it on the root of your externalsd, boot into recovery wipr everything then install rom. Then READ AND FOLLOW OP INSTRUCTIONS. Should be all :good:
Both above are exactly correct..
But a custom rom replaces the Operating system that is on your Note .With one customized by the rom developer. This will prevent you from getting any Samsung updates. (except from community).
Check out the rom thread of the rom you are interested in. Look at post about any issues . What stock features work or do not work..
Also if you are under warranty. You void your warranty and will trip your flash counter. (CAN be fixed with triangle away).
I think you might should keep reading and get a better understanding before you go any further. We would really hate to see your next post..
HELP MY NOTE WILL NOT BOOT.
Good luck .. Read 3 times backup twice Flash once . and Be happy.
