Hey there guys,
I have rooted my HTC One X a while ago. Used a nice rom and it was all great. But then the HTC Sense 5 and android 4.2.2 update aired, so I wanted to update my phone. I put the new kernel and rom on my phone. Flashed both (something must have gone wrong, because I was in a boot loop). I am able to go to recovery. Somehow I lost all the files on my phone. So there is no rom left. I tried push a new rom on my phone using adb, but it was not successfull because it said: ''no device detected''. So atm I am stuck in recovery, without a rom, the mount usb function on my clockworkmod v5.8.2.7. doesn't work. I do not know if there is a solution. Hope you guys can help me out.
Please! haha!

Problem is solved. Had to flash a new recovery! Thanks to Mr Hofs and Stefan0vic!
Flash a new recovery, mount the sdcard in there as a usb disk and copy a rom to it.
Flash the boot.img of the rom, make a full wipe and install the rom.zip !

Sometimes the mount USB option doens't work for me either.
Do you have all the drivers installed? HTC Sync for instance?

You don't have to.. you just put your recovery.img to the folder where your adb and fastboot directory is in your computer. Then hold shift+right click, select open a new command window here, then type:
adb reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash recovery yourrecovery.img
Then you have a new recovery.. i hope this helps.

I know if this would work with anyone else, but sometimes, when my laptop doesn't recognize my phone while on fastboot or recovery, i'll unplug my phone, restart my laptop, reboot my phone to recovery, then most of the time my laptop will then recognize my phone.. i hope this would work for you too. But i really don't know what am i missing here.. but it's not that hard to give it a try.

I have to supercid htc one x. Can I update via OTA? (currently not updating)
Then you have s-off too. You should be able to flash the 4.18.401 firmware that upgrades the hboot to 1.72 and then install a sense 5 rom
But sense 5 roms also works on at least hboot 1.36 and higher. Lower then 1.36 dont know....not tested it.

it usually takes a minute or 2 for adb to kick in on the phone after connecting the phone to usb port.
1) check in device manager if your phone is detected Android USB device
2) after connecting your phone PC open command/cmd type adb kill-server
3) wait for about 2 minutes
4) type adb devices if it detects your phone then you can copy the rom zip with adb push xxx.zip /sdcard(ie if you are unable to mount as usb)
Yes it's a fully touch recovery. And the mount usb function is not working in 5.8.2.7 because it's just not supported.
That's why he needs a new one
Hee guys,

---- PLEASE MOVE POST TO WILDFIRE S - Questions section. wrong post sorry!!----
Hi everyone!
First of all, thank you for taking the time to read this!
I have tried to do research on my problem but can't solve it...
The problem is that i can't get into recovery to backup my stock rom.
Specs: HTC Wildfire S, marvel A510e, S-on, Bootloader unlocked, Rooted, Radio-7.54.39.28M, Andriod 2.3.5, HTC sence: 2.1, ClockworkMod 5.0.2.8, Super SU.
I followed the guide: "How to root the Wildfire S with S-ON"on Andriod forums by CafeKampuchia, thumbs up for him It got me this far but, now I want to do the thing for which I rooted my phone in the first place: Installing a costum ROM. Therefore I want to backup my stock ROM.
Installed CWM ROM manager, if use backup current ROM option, the phone reboots and i get the HTC letters on my screen these. After a few sec's they dissapear and my screen goes black and my buttons on the bottom light up. I can touch those but nothing happens besides that it buzzes.... When I it boot the normal way again and use the option 'manage and restore backups' in CMW ROM manager, it shows that there has been made a backup. Not shure if I can trust it though....
When I open in HBOOT (1.09.0099) and push recovery the same thing happens. When I boot the normal way and try to boot into recovery trough CWM ROM manager same thing happens again.
I saw a other topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1213229&page=2 i tried to flash this recovery to see if a older version might work, but now i have got a problem flashing... See picture: View attachment 1031874. Anyway that is not my main problem, what i really want to make it clear: is to back up my stock ROM.
Many thanks in advantage!
wait for device, you boot your phone to fastboot, and is works
---------- Post added at 09:43 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:40 AM ----------
I think your hboot is very high, you downgrade it to 1.030000 may be works.
Hey pal if I was you I wouldn't use rom manager, I've known it to have issues over both wildfires. Turn off your phone the normal way. Pull out the battery for 10-20 seconds or so, put it back in and hold volume down + power. Once your hboot is finished scanning the sdcard scroll down to recovery and select it with power. You should go into clockwork mod. Then scroll again with the rockers down to backup and hit it you can do as many backups as your sdcard will carry. So do that and you should have one you can trust. Also before you install your new custom rom read the main page throughout to see if it needs set up in any specific way, like with a special sdcard partition or something. And most important don't forger to wipe your cache, dalvik cache and factory reset the Device from clockwork mod recovery ! This will avoid bootloops good luck

other version of cmw recovery, by following the guide instead of flashing. That gave me the following error.
CID incorret! Update fail! Press <power. to reboot.
ok how did you install your recovery to install super user? did you just use rom manager to do it? as far as i know it only installs a tempoary recovery. which would explain why you are only getting to it through rom manager. ok do you have adb installed onto your pc?
ok take the pg76img.zip attached to this post and put it on the root of your sdcard. then boot into bootloader (not fastboot) and your phone should say it found an update. flash it and it will install clockworkmod to your phone properly. then remove the pg76img.zip from your sdcard and boot back into bootloader, select recovery and with any luck you`ll be sorted. then follow my post above and you`ll be sorted pal

Sorry made a mistake here, i tried to use adb commands while in hboot. When i tried it when the phone was on as usual i could use SU command and the # logo showed up bit than my terminal froze and i couldn't write anything else.
Than i tried it again this time only using the commands as follows:
cd c:\android
adb shell
su
reboot recovery
Difference is that the first time i typed: adb shell su. all together this freezes it up...
Anyhow it sitll doens't work.. i get an empty line in cmd, thats all..View attachment 1033568
But this could be because now a flash of a recovery img doens't work it gives: Waiting for device...

You need to get adb and the rest of the android sdk tools set up on your computer, then enter fastboot, then type
Code:
fastboot erase cache
This should let you enter recovery and re-flash your rom. If you still can't enter recovery, you'll have to flash the recovery again from fastboot.

What ROM are you on?
You should flash a repacked version if you are on any rom but Viperx. To fix your bootloop I'll suggest you just look for a repacked version of you're rom, if you can't find one, or there isn't one, I'll do a repack for you. Also you should've typed this in fastboot:
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Boot to recovery and flashed those modules(it's the kernel file you downloaded).

So lets see. You are rooted right? Did you unlock your bootloader via htcdev?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.
I'm assuming both of the stuff just mentioned is true. Also you will need to download the htc drivers, which can be found with their software here:
dl4.htc.com/managed-assets/support/software/htc-sync/htc_sync_setup_3.2.20.exe
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.
Now if you don't have cwm(clockworkmod) recovery installed here is a link for the file: download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.4.0-endeavoru.img
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.
To flash that file you will need to have the drivers installed as mentioned in above, also you'll need this file here:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/78880032/fastboot.zip
Now extract this file to your main harddrive.
Example C:/fastboot/
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is where you should place the file mentioned at number 2. Also we will work from this folder mostly.
After you installed the htcsync software, and did the steps mentioned above we can go further. Don't forget to answer my two questions at the beginning.

Yes you can flash that rom. I still don't know why you would want a ruu. Just boot to recovery(there is an option once inside hboot) and go to backup and restore. Just choose the backup option and wait for it to finish.

If I understand you correctly, you want to to flash the rom but your PC can't see your sdcard. Is that right?
You can flash from whatever firmware you are on. It doesn't matter. But if my statement above is correct , then I would presume you want to install your drivers.
You should try to set your phone to USB mass storage and see if your PC can still not see it.

OK I understand. So you should flash the latest recovery of the link in the previous page a gave you.
How to flash recovery:
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash recovery xxx.img
Where xxx is the name of the recovery.
Boot your phone to hboot and then choose recovery. Then you go to 'mounts and storage' option and right at the bottom should be USB mass storage(of something similar)

what to do now?
edit2:
when im trying to type "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
it says "'fastboot' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file."
is that because my battery is under 30%?
Tried to install patch that changes recent button to menu. after that it bricked and every time I reboot my phone it stucks on white screeen with htc brilliant on it. Wanted to reinstall ROM but PC doesn't see it (when I connect my HTC it shows CD-drive F). Mounting USB cant help because "unable to open ums lunfile". Please help me!!!!

Maybe ther e is a way out, wait for someone else to answer. Regarding HTC Service the warranty will not apply if you installed a custom rom

Wow this is helpfull.
Anyway...
What recovery are you running? First flash a new recovery using fastboot. It could be that the recovery your using doesn't support USB mounting. Download this:
http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/openrecovery-twrp-2.2.0.1-endeavoru.img
and flash it by going into fastboot and typing
'fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.2.0.1-endeavoru.img
fastboot erase cache'
Then go into your recovery and try and mount your internal storage. You can then just flash a new rom and fastboot a boot.img and your home dry.
If it still isn't mounting a simple factory reset might help. It's possible you've just screwed your data partition and /system is fine. Let me know how that goes and then if not, we can see about reverting the changes the patch made.

Um, did you install HTC Sync software? I believe this installs the driver so that your PC can recognize the HTC One X when you plug it into USB
Get this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29131146
It contains all the drivers you need to get up and running again.
Go to fastboot (make sure it reads FASTBOOT USB on the phone) and use fastboot to flash the boot.img file that is in the ROM .zip you installed. Reboot and all will be well.
First, noob here to the HOX and not very bright, technologically speaking, lol.
I'm on ARHD v15.0 and was trying to flash a new kernel (ncx-217) which I repacked with the boot .img of the ARHD rom. I followed ALL of the steps very carefully but when I rebooted I was stuck on the "htc quietly brilliant" screen. So I searched and saw directions to get into fastboot, which I was able to do but, my computer will not recognize my phone now (so I cannot flash something via sdk).
Btw, I do have the CM 10 rom on my sd card to flash in recovery, but no separate boot.img to flash (or any way I know of flashing it from my computer since it's not recognizing my phone in usb fastboot mode).
Thanks in advance
I'm thinking I should just go ahead and flash the CM10 rom I have on my sd card (and hope for the best).
Ugh! My beautiful new (to me) One X...
You're on jb hboot. Jb roms and hboot do not support custom kernels as of now. You'll have to wait till jb kernel source is out and the devs to make one. Reflash ARHD.

I see. But I cannot flash ARHD cause it's not on my phone and I can't get my computer to recognize my phone in fastboot. I do have a copy of CM10 on my sd card. Should I just go ahead and flash that in recovery?
Why don't you just mount USB storage in recovery and copy ARHD over?

Can you elaborate? How do I mount USB storage in recovery? Keeping in mind that I cannot get my computer to detect my phone now.

Okay, that worked! Nice. So, now I should just transfer ARHD to the sd card and flash that?
Only problem is, I cannot flash the boot.img first because when I go out of mount USB storage (into fastboot) I lose my connection from the phone to the computer...
Nandroid?
If u had a nandroid backup before flashing the kernel. Then restore it.
If not/
Download the latest drives(Htc Sync)
Ur phone will get deteced for sure.

Can only find the AT&T drivers and now phone is saying battery level too low to flash! F#ck
Here you can find the drivers, in the first post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1832891
Connect the phone to the wallcharger and go into bootloader and select power down.
Let it charge for a while
And if that doesn't work you can check this thread

No. I was actually able to flash the ARHD rom in recovery but still wouldn't boot (I'm assuming b/c I hadn't flashed the boot .img). I was unable to flash the boot .img due to my computer still not recognizing my phone, despite having installed the drivers. I went to sleep and when I woke up the phone was apparently dead (I think the connection between the adapter and the plug was not good), so I'm charging it again now.
Do you think the lack of the boot .img is the reason it's not working (and not being recognized by my computer)? Any further suggestions? Maybe I'll try and get rid of all the drivers and start over (I d/l'd the drivers several times).
I appreciate your help, man!
Yes i really think that its the reason it doesn't boot !
Install the drivers again after that remove HTC sync but leave the drivers intact its an option in the deinstall menu on the pc.
I'm gonna give a dl link to my fastboot folder . Put the folder on C:\
So it's gonna be C:\fastboot\3 fastboot/adb files.
You probably have this but its easier for me to explain

And if you put the phone in fastboot USB mode within the bootloader menu
And you give this :
Fastboot devices
It should come up with a serial
