Trying to get an MHL adapter to work without needing external power supplied to the adapter. I thought I read the Note 8 has MHL version 2 like the S4 but I'm not 100%. Can anyone verify if the Note 8 is version 1 or 2?
I've tried 2 Samsung ET-H10FAUWEGWW adapters and both needed power applied before they worked. Is there any known adapter that will work without external power with the Note 8? TIA

Did you try reverting to stock? I know kernels affect the MHL on other phones. I have an old 5 pin adapter, but haven't bought the 5-to-11 adapter yet.

Hi
I want to use my Samsung Note 10.1 to connect to LCD projector for making presentations.
Pl suggest suitable Cable/adapter with part no or links
Thanks
You are in the forums for the galaxy note 1 phone
look in the forums for the N8000...
To give you an answer, you will need a MHL cable to video-out.
look on amazon for Samsung galaxy note video cable
Thanks.
Whether it is note 1, 2 or 10.1, my reqt remains same. Cause I am looking at micro usb to vga connector.
Has any one actually used it and does it work?
Pl share the setup and configuration or precautions

I'm using a Micro USB to HDMI cable from Ebay for 3 Euro or so, and it works perfectly...
Just search for hdmi galaxy note or mhl galaxy note on ebay...
Just plug the cable to a power source first, HDMI to the Projector, Micro USB to Note and Bob's your uncle...

Actually it doesn't, because the note2 and note10.1 MHL protocol is different from the Note1's.
Hello everyone. I cant get my s4 to hook to my TV. I'm using the mhl/HDMI adapter with charger that I bought from T-Mobile 6 months ago. I was messing with some different apps and settings to try and get mass storage mode enabled and I don't know if this is why it won't hook to my TV because I didn't try to do it before I was messing with those settings. Can anyone confirm that my mhl/HDMI should work? Or have any idea how I can fix my output settings if I screwed them up?

did you get the 5 pin to 11 pin adapter? depending on the MHL adapter, the new ones have the 11pins for the newer devices like the Note 2 and Galaxy S3 and S4. i have a MHL ready monitor and had to get the 5 to 11pin adapter to get it to work and also to get my older MHL adapter to work too.

this is an older one w/the adapter
I'm not 100% sure what the pin count is, but it worked on the Samsung galaxy s relay that I just had.
Hi everyone, just wondering if anybody has found a usb to hdmi cable/adapter that works with the note 8. I want to be able to connect it to my tv to watch movies. I tried connecting my Samsung phone usb to my note and it isn't a good fit. Is the micro port on the note 8 different than a standard micro usb? Thanks for your help. Not sure if it matters, but I am in Canada.
I have tried 5 pin and it does not work so I think 11 pin (the one that work with note 2 / s3) will probably work.

The 11 pin version works. I own one.(the one for the galaxy s3)
A normal 5 pins otg cable also works. In case you wanted to buy that one also.
Best regards,
Niels

The Note 2 Galaxy S3 and after use a 11 pin adaptor. Those work with the Note 8 ( I have one). You can buy a 5 to 11 pin Micro usb adaptor on Amazon.
Today I found a new type adapter by Samsung in a store: White, rated 1080p 60 fps. It has the longer, 11 pins connector. I think it is a proprietary one, based on micro USB. The black HDTV adapter for the SIII uses the same connector. That one has no rating on the box, so I guess that one is only 720p. Both are recognised by my Note 8.0 (it beeps). But I haven't had the chance yet to test them on an actual TV set.

will any mhl adapter work? or does it need to be a specific mhl adapter for samsung note 8?
I'm currently using the MHL adapter for S3 and Snote 2 for my Note 8 and works flawlessly. I think in order to works best, you need to plug in with the power adapter too which is a faeture of Samsung's MHL adapters
the power adapter?

Every mhl adapter requires you to plug your charger and micro usb cable into the adapter to provide power to the phone while using the mhl adapter. You have to make sure you purchase an mhl adapter that is compatible with Samsung devices. Samsung uses an 11 pin micro usb/mhl port where as HTC only had a 5 pin. My mhl adapter that I used with all my HTC phones will not work with my Samsung devices.

That is not what you need, that is to convert a non-samsung mhl adapter to work with a Samsung phone or tablet. Just search for Samsung mhl and look for one that says it works with a Galaxy s4 or s3 and it will work with the note 8.

Sorry to revive an old thread. I am in the position of looking for an MHL adapter for my Note 8. Can you share the exact model of the one that you have? I would very much appreciate that.
Thanks.
