[Q] Problem with wifi :( - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all
I was using an old version of JellyTime ROM on my DHD, then I installed the newest version (after a full wipe). The wifi couldnt find any network after the update(I thought its a problem with the ROM). I tried wifix and it worked perfectly.
After few days I decided to try another ROM. I tried PACman, CodefieX, Xperia Honami and Oxygen JB (all jellybean 4.2.2) and the wifi problem was not fixed.
Then I tried an old version of CodefireX (still 4.2.2) and wifi worked perfectly.
Flashing a new version results the same problem .
Any help guys please :crying:

Try going back to 2.3.7 CM7 and flash another ROM. Sounds like a hardware problem though

I experienced this issue when I flashed a new ROM.
I solved the issue by flashing boot.img from the ROM manually.
You can find the boot.img file from the zip file of the ROM. Boot the phone into fastboot mode and connect the phone to PC. Use the command:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
If you don't know how to use fastboot command on PC, find it from some other threads.
Hope it is helpful for you.

[Q] problem on cyanogen 7 rom on Desire HD help

Hi There, I'll try and keep this short, this is regarding my brothers Desire HD:
he's running MIUI 1.7.8 - no problems. Ril 2.2.0018G, Radio 12.54.60.25U_26.09.04.11_M2
We thought we'd try a new ROM, did the usual, wiped data, dalvik cache etc etc. installed Cyanogen 7.0.3 through CWM
He prefers this new ROM. set everything up, then discovered a strange problem, an active call is dropped when the proximity sensor turns the screen off. I looked this problem up (someone else experienced it and did a "fastboot oem eraseconfig" I tried this and it said successful but didnt cure the problem...
I tried to flash the RIL 2.2.0018G in CWM (It said it flashed successful, but when i booted into the ROM, it still had the old RIL installed with the ROM not the new one i just flashed.
One other thing, the Radio that I had was: 12.54.60.25U_26.09.04.11_M2, something strange, the U changed to P after i installed Cyanogen7 ???
I used Nandroid to restore MIUI and the P changed back to a U, the RIL was obviously changed to the one that came with the MIUI ROM and all is now working again.
Q1, Why couldn't i flash a new RIL under Cyanogen (was i doing it wrong - just a normal flash through CWM?)
Q2, Why did the U change to a P in the radio name when i installed Cyanogen?
Q3, Any ideas to the cause of the dropped calls (if not answered in Q1 or Q2)?
I tried, but it still turned into a longer post. sorry.
thanks for your help.
Kevin
I'm not an expert, but I believe RILs can only be flashed in the recovery console. I know I flashed mine there and it worked. No idea why the letter changed
RILs can be safely flashed in CWM, with minimal harm. But do make sure that md5 provided by the dev is matching with yours. If the RIL is restored after rebooting, maybe the RIL is tied with the stock radio. Plus, RIL does not has any effect in AOSP rom.
The radio prefix can change due to rom/radio own setting and region. Read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1068874
Reason of dropped call may caused by dialer that flagged as open application and would kill itself if its clashed with screen off command. Try to reflash/change kernel.
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA App
to use cmd with the phone in fastboot mode you need the "fastboot.exe" file, also you need to make sure the cmd directory points in the correct path. Could be why you didn't actually flash anything.

[Q] CM11 snapshot/nightly stuck at boot... now can not even rollback to 10.2

Hi,
I had CM 10.2 running fine on my HOX. A couple of weeks ago I decided to test out CM11, since this is not my primary device, stability wasn't that big of a concern for me. The first few tries CM11 installation was a failure with some error (I can't recall) occurring when installing the zip in Recovery (if i remember correctly it had something to do with version of recovery I was using).
Anyways, I searched online, found a solution and was able to install the CM11. I have flashed the boot, erased the cache, tried wiping/factory resetting the device, in all kinds of orders (wiping/installing/flashing boot.img, flasing boot.img/installing CM11, etc). but no matter what I try my phone always stays stuck at the boot animation.
I found multiple threads on the forums with similar problems, but in most cases the OP was either missing flashing boot.img or erasing the cache helped. not so in my case.
Also, weirdly enough, now even if i try to reinstall CM 10.2 (which was working earlier), I get the same issue.
any further guidance on troubleshooting / overcoming this issue is highly appreciate
HOX International H__J15
HBOOT 1.31
CWM Touch Recovery 6.0.4.8
(btw, just tried Beanstalk ROM, same issue... I dont know what I F'd up on this phone!! )

Your HBOOT is to low you must to upgrade ti 1.39 or 1.72 but 1.31 is tooo low and for this the CM11 don't boot
Actually I think 1.31 is the latest version which came out with jelly bean rom for the htc__15 id.
what's frustrating is that I can't even get the 10.2 version of CM working again either...which should be fine with this hboot version

try restore stock and chek for update restore nandroid and see I am not sure J15 is only 1.31
Will give it a shot tonight and report back. ...what's grinding my gears is none of the other roms including jb ones I tried are working either
i finally managed to resolve my issue. I tried changing recoveries, tried multiple ROMs and also tried to run RUU (which failed since i have a later version of the ROM vs. what's available in RUU).
finally decided to try formatting the boot, System and Cache partitions and installing CM11 again.
I had never used the 'format <partition>' feature before. Apparently this did the trick and now i am running CM11 .!!

is HBOOT still the same version or did you upgrade it?
I am curious about the order in which you did things. After formatting boot, system and cache partitions, did you flash the boot image again or did you do that prior to the formatting.
Thanks

WiFi not working on HTC one m8

Hi I pretty much know nothing about custom roms etc but I was forced to go for a custom ROM due to a friend wiping my phone but when I flashed Viper 3.2.1 everything was fine except the wifi button was greyed out, I also tried android revolution and the same problem occured. However it was fine when i tried candy5 but once i flashed google play the wifi stopped working again.
Does anyone know what the problem is and how i should fix it? thanks.
Hope you are on latest 4.4.4 firmware , link for the same should be in OP/FAQ of Viper.

If you are only unlocked and not s-off you will need to manually flash the corresponding boot.img for each rom each time you flash a new rom. If you can get s-off you won't need to do this anymore.
Firmware needs to be updated. Confirmed on OP's other thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/htc-one-m8-bricked-t2989202/page2
Also its not necessary to manually extract and flash boot.img on the M8, even when s-on. Folks giving this advice may be carrying over knowledge from an older HTC device.

[Q] WiFi and Bluetooth freezes on turning on

Greetings
I'm getting issues when turning on WiFi and Bluetooth, the swipe icon freezes on turning on and then goes back to being off.
Heres the details of my actions:
----------
-Noticed error a 3 days after flashing cyanogenmod, 10.2.1, not a problem with flashing a boot.img as it did work when the rom was installed.
-Updated my rom to a newer version, issue remained.
-Flashed a different rom which isn't related to cyanogenmod, but no luck.
-Flashed a new kernal on the device, same as ^
--------
-Phone is a year old
-Telstra Australia (straya m8)
----------
I'm unsure if i should flash an ruu, as the issue didn't appear as soon as i flashed the first rom on the device, to me, it sounds like a hardware issue, but i would like to know the opinion of others.
Thank you

Cannot flash Kernel , recovery or even original ROM

Hello,
I am facing a weird problem with my htc one v for 4-5 months. Several times I installed custom ROMs and KERNELs and also went back to original ROM using ruu. I did that because 3G was not working. I thought if I could get it back. But few months ago , I tried CM-10 KANGBANG and after that 3G started working like before. But now I could not install original ROM. Even I was unable to install kernel and recovery. because it always shows problem with pc connectivity. I tried other roms which require kernel flashing. but could not connect to my pc to flash kernel. so those ROMs became useless. Now I am using MIUI by rulling. thanks to that ROM. only this ROMs works now. It just happened after installing CM10 KANGBANG. its so irritating. What will I do now? I tried rumrunner. still negetive. no connectivity with pc.
