Hello,
Is it the New Nexus 7 released in 2013?
If yes, I am not even aware it is available yet although I did read in the news that a man from China got it by mistake while shipping it from USA.
Do not tell me that you are that guy
Well, if you have the old model, Nexus 7 2012, then you have posted this in the wrong thread.
If you have the new Nexus 7, It depends that you can run custom roms or not. No one has seen the binaries or flash images for the New Nexus 7 so I can not say it might work or not. You might have to take the risk if you still want to try.
Also, I think unless LTE is integrated with some system files, you will be cool to go and not be able to use communications but that is still highly unlikely because from the old Nexus 7 LTE model, I know the source binaries were quite different.
You can even hard brick your device.
My advice, enjoy the LTE till it is official.
I work for a mobile company in the UK. So I have a final test one. A nexus 2013 LTE.

Your a lucky man
Mine doesn't have the touch screen issues that a lot of people are suffering from. But for those that are does your n7 have multi-touch issues?

Any word on a release date?
Can you make a nandroid of that rom beforehand and upload it?
(I would recommend against using TWRP for the moment as it has a lot of issues with nandroids, there seem to be a working CWM at the moment)

Great news.
I hope it does better than the TF600TL - another Asus LTE device (running Windows RT). LOL
can we make phone calls?
No phone on stock

Probably never will make any voice calls, they so far go on overlaid 3g networks due to lots of upgrades required in the backhaul. Voip, ie. CSipSimple, is the way to go. And you will need a headset.
The Phone App is in the filesystem but doesn't show in the ui.
I'm hoping this will be different as it uses a different chip than the nexus 7 3g(2012)
The 2013 N7 LTE should be using a APQ8064-1AA + MDM9615A + WTR1605L,
which is very similar to the APQ8064 + MDM9615A + WTR1605L on the N4.
While it might be (hypothetically) possible for it to do so in hardware, it could still be disabled.
Both the N4 and 2013 N7's wifi/bt chips also support fm radio at the silicon level, but it's disabled at the chip level.
The LTE on the N4 is disabled at the firmware level (as the lte mod is due to leftover code, if it were not for that it doesnt have LTE period)
It could have voice calls disabled at the silicon level, chip level, firmware level, or rom level, since they can easily spec modems that have broken voice call support since it's not used in the first place.

And soon we can all have the LTE
LTE Nexus 7 announced in middle of September 2013 in Japan.

It has a faster CPU than its version counterpart.
And its sprint's first lte phone!
This is my next phone.
For two simple reasons.
1: never worry about finding/losing rooting exploits, same with boot loaders.
2: fast updates. I'm not talking about ota's. I'm talking about source release, because when ICS drops on a HTC or Samsung. You can't have custom kernels, which takes a large part out of the experience. Unless the source is dropped along with drivers.
What do yo guys think?
Are you going to jump ship and get this year's annual Nexus or wait... HTC's been awfully quiet recently. Wonder what their planning
Here's the article

I'm super hype I almost spent my Christmas money. I'm putting it away. Hopefully it drops soon. My city isn't in the 1st wave of LTE cities. But I live in Las Vegas so we should get it soon after. Since this is LTE it should be bigger like other Verizon version I assume

I think its call the galxos or something.
Its better than the one in the verison version .

Exynos.
I'll be holding off on this one.
I'm sure it'd be the same processor, just set at default clock speed rather than underclocked.
I hope this is true cuz I'm getting this phone there's only one phone that I would want over this & its the galaxy s3 which is going to be a monster quad core with 2 gb of ram if Samsung could only have a way to disable TW & give the options of vanilla ics or TW it would be the greatest phone ever it would practically be a galaxy nexus & galaxy s3 all in one device!! But that would never happen!

I was all about this phone a month and a half ago but now I am not so sure. I already have 2 Android phones and have considered adding an iphone to the collection especially considering my new vehicle is much more compatible with iOS than Android
We'll see i suppose.
Patiently gonna wait for this

I look forward to getting this for free at the Google I/O Conference...
Unless you live in one of the four lte cities I'd wait for the next phone. The phones hardware is nice buy there will be better VERY shortly after and since lte won't matter I'd give it a few months to drop in price honestly.

Why are you holding off? There is only one nexus a year. And wasn't the nexus one the best phone when it came out? The only thing that touched it closely was the evo. And our nexus s, nothing touched it expect for the gsii (over a year)
Nexuses simply run the smoothest because the most current version of android is made for them.
Gs3 won't come out until 2013
Gs2 is out because no lte.
So for me its the Nexus vs iPhone (isn't it always?)
And I wouldn't expect another iPhone for at least 8 months

I cant see why people would wait. We get stuck up in numbers so much we lose sight of a phone working. People cry about no up dates. Here is the chance to have the most up to date and the simplest path to roms.

I'm considering buying this phone since the 16 gb on the nexus are not enough for me. But I don't trust LG's update policy and launching it with ics confirms they are still behind in that departments. My question is, since the hw is almost identical, will devs be able to port roms from the nexus to the G?
Yes. Assuming that the bootloader gets unlocked. That's being worked on now.

Yep. It will be very easy as well, since the devices are even more similar than the Galaxy S and Nexus S. Should only take a few files to port from one to the other.

I'm considering the same phone too, just because it's so close to the nexus. Do you think the lte will still work?
Yes. It may not work immediately but, it should be doable.

I had to "refresh" my tapatalk to see it :/
OK, but is it safe to install wi-fi roms on LTE device? There isn't much "to do" in the lte forum right now.
Dont think its a good idea to slap a non LTE rom on an LTE version....even if it ran i bet there would be issues. I haev an LTE version too and it sucks that there's not really anything out there but kernels for it but I made the worse mistake buying the wifi N7 last year so I couldnt do the same this time around. I'll just be patient at least I'm overclocked and rooted which can hold me over till roms release. Although all I would like is a stock rooted and deodexed rom for the LTE version.
Hello, I have read that many Nexus 7 devices (ever since the first model) experience significant slow down after a year of use. I'm considering buying one, and would like to know if this issue has ever been addressed or if anyone could give me personal input?
I've had my 2012 Nexus 7 since launch day, and had no issues with slow down over time. My new N7 is obviously even faster.

Yes, but it'll take a little bit longer because of the radio. Expect to get the OTA around/just before the Nexus 9 LTE version becomes available.

Use unofficial roms, they are working pretty well.
This piece is claiming LTE/3G rollout beginning early December.
With all the issues haunting lollipop, it may be better to wait.
