Other devices are fruitlessly petitioned in the device forum request thread. Yet this one gets an empty forum, has anyone even asked for it?
Doesn't matter though, I am still keeping an eye on development here since it shares the chipset with a much more interesting tablet, the Asus MeMO Pad 10 FHD. Maybe I can learn here wether Intel does provide enough support to have realistic hopes for a CM port.
EDIT for clarification: this has been moved from Tab 3 10.1 development, which is as of now completely clean again.

about 4 or 5 members asked and it is a new "mainstream" type product well at least it used to be the tab series seems to have dropped off in favor of other tablets...
I wish i would have got the asus memo 7 hd instead all the same features minus the ir blaster with a faster quad core soc at least all is not lost im getting a free asus memo smart 10...
Honestly i would say all around the tab 3 are a miss for the price you could get tablets with better resolution screens faster soc all cheaper. The 7 i really wish they would have put an enxyos in it rather than the marvell xscale soc. Hell all 3 would have done well with either enxyos or snapdragon processors mmm the tab 3 7 with a qualcomm s4 pro or enxyos 4212 or something like that. But no as it stands we get intel's spun off arm divisions crap the middle tab gets the samsung enxyos chip and the 10 gets intel's x86 mobile chip...
Sir you should consider just selling your Tab 3 7.0 for $150.00 and purchase the Asus 7 incher.. You don't sound too happy with your Tab 3..
I purchased the Tab 3 8.0 and I Love It.. You should be happy when you spend this kind of money..
Good Luck To You..

The S Pen APK's can be found easily enough, the problem is the screen doesn't support the pen. You can find a replacement screen for the Note 8 on eBay and then install it on your Tab 3. Personally I would just buy a EVGA Note 7 and call it day, you can probably sell your Tab 3 8 for the 200 dollar asking price of the EVGA. Your then getting a much, much, much faster tablet as the EVGA has the new Tegra 4, comes with a active digitizer pen which you can than install the S Pen software, an HDMI out port, so you don't have to fork over an additional 50 for the Samsung MHL HDMI adaptor and it has better build quality, actually one of toughest tablets I have seen. Then there is the best part, it's the closest to having a Nexus device without, well, buying a Nexus device. Pure Android, just a 350mb system OS footprint vs. the 2GB plus laggy mess that is TouchWiz. The updates are also released as fast as a Google Nexus device as this is a NVIDIA reference design, so no more waiting 8 months like with a Samsung.
Check it out here http://www.evga.com/articles/00790/
This is just suggestion if you want a fast, inexpensive tablet with pen support. If you decide to go with the first option let me know, I could help locate the parts and even help with the install by providing detailed instructions. I have a friend who works in the Tablet/Phone repair department for Interdiscount.ch here in Switzerland. Since the Samsung's have more problems than any other tablet manufacture that they sell he might actually have the parts your looking for on hand, his words, In fact when I bought a Tab 3 10.1 he called me an idiot and told me for every 3 sold, 1 is returned. I now know what he meant as I returned mine after only a few days and got the Nexus 10, I heard the Tab 3 8's are much better though. I will contact him on your behalf if your interested. I like visiting his workshop anyway, he always lets me steal a part or two for my Frankenstein projects.
Hello,
I have a very limited history with tablets. Only Tegra 2 ones and those were bad days. I do know that Android tablets don't share the attention Android phones have. Still I am looking for a fully and easily customisable and community-friendly tablet as a Nexus 4 user.
First of all Nexus 7 and 10 are not an option in my country. Adding that I hate Samsung this leaves me thinking (actually considering, because I did not even know that G Pad existed) G Pad 8.3 which has a very elegant look and affordable price.
But I have questions; So please help me out with them..
1) Is there OTG support for 2.5" hard drives?
2) Like I said, I am a Nexus 4 user. I have withnessed Note 2's aging before it and it killed me because hardware was there to save the day but Samsung let it die slowly. I also have withnessed Galaxy Nexus's survival throught developers due to its open coded nature. How is the openness in LG world? And how is the software support and community? I don't expect a Nexus 7 easiness but still, some G2, Z1 level customisable-ness and openness would be awesome..
3) Since we mentioned G2, how long do you thing the chipset will survive? Even G2 has S800 (don't mind the CPU but the Adreno 330) but this tablet S600 with Adreno 320. I guess this is a faster and 32 pipeline version of a regular Adreno 320 which comes with S4 Pro right? What do you think for its gaming future? (having Galaxy S4 and 2013 Nexus 7 on board with same or slower GPUs out there makes me think that G Pad 8.3 will survive another 1.5-2 years with ease but I am not sure)
4) How is AOSP? I think there is GPE version but could we easily switch to an AOSP based ROM? How about ROMs like Omni or PA or any other famous and multi-device-supporting ones?
5) Are there any chronical problems? Where should I pay attention before buying?
6) How is the battery time and screen quality?
7) I know I said I hate Samsung but I am going to buy 2 of them (One for my company) and I can find Galaxy Tab 8.4 Pro for an additional 100 Dollars (Lg is 400, Samsung with no Wi-Fi is 500). Considering these questions above would you tell which one is better? Samsung has a better GPU but also has twice many pixels to push out. Especially the GPU is scaring me, GPUs are the only reason I had to change a device-including laptops- in my mobile world experience so far..
8) What are your opinions? Is there any regrets? Or anyone saying "I should have gone for other tablet"?
Thank you for reading this long writing And for the answers of course..

Check out the Dev forum. Recovery and ROMs (CM11, SlimKat, others) are available.

I have found the S600 with 2GB RAM sufficient to run games like Asphalt 8, Bladeslinger, and Soulcalibur without issues. Games would have to get crazy-intense to cause problems with this tablet.

There is the GPE, but as of yet you can't switch the LG version and the GPE. Can't say anything about ASOP, although there is a ASOK DEV thread. I haven't done any research about this, so I can't say.

Battery life seems fine to me. I think the screen looks great. It's not the brightest when it comes to nits, but in my dim apartment it's plenty bright at 75%, although I keep it at 84%. At work, which is brightly lit by fluorescents, 84% is fine too, but I might crank it up to 100% if I'm watching a video. Outdoor visibility might be an issue, but I don't use mine outdoors, so I can't comment on that.
7) I know I said I hate Samsung but I am going to buy 2 of them (One for my company) and I can find Galaxy Tab 8.4 Pro for an additional 100 Dollars (Lg is 400, Samsung with no Wi-Fi is 500). Can't say anything about the 8.4 Pro. It's pretty highly regarded in reviews, but from a dev'mod standpoint, I don't know.

I love mine. I use it mainly as a media/entertainment device. Some light, casual games, a few intense ones. Web browsing, Youtube, Netflix. And eBooks. What I love most is the size. It's the only tablet I've owned, but I've played around with 7" and 10.1" Androids and iPads, and none of them "fit". The 7" ones had just a wee bit too small of a screen, and the larger ones were too big and heavy, especially one-handed. But the LG 8.3 is the perfect medium. Thanks to the narrow side bezels I can hold it comfortably in hand in portrait, and the wider top/bottom bezels make it great to hold in landscape. Plus it's light and balanced enough to even hold one-handed in landscape.
I got mine for $250USD. The Tab Pro 8.4 is $350-400USD. If the LG 8.3 was only available for $330-350 from major retailers or eBay, the Tab Pro 8.4 would have been a major consideration. But for $250, the LG 8.3 was the clear choice for me. Occasionally it has been even cheaper (but I missed out on those deals). I can't speak for cost/availability in Turkey, but if it's the same in the US, I'd say both tablets are worth the money. The LG was the better choice for me. But if you want the higher-res screen and better hardware, I wouldn't call the Samsung 8.4 a rip-off at the price.

Don´t do the same mistake we did !
There may be an update to KitKat but it would be the last update. (ASUS releases much more updates than Samsung)
And building custom ROMs for the 10.1 variant, is (at this time) unpossible because of the Intel chipset.
If you don´t care about these aspects, it´s still a powerfull tablet for working with documents or watching streams, movies.

Was, why did you bother even asking the question if the Tab 3 was worth the purchase of you had already purchased it. Yes, the Tab 3 was a mistake, not only is this tablet very laggy do to TouchWiz not being optimized for x86 (should have given you hint when they haven't released another model with this cpu as of yet) but the system only leaves 300mb of memory available to apps. Samsung has been promising Kit Kat for ever and at this point it looks like it will never happen, not only that but the custom ROMs are few to none, with most being abandoned. Sell this piece of crap and my suggestion, would be to never buy another midtier Samsung tablet again. They just don't care, once they release a tablet it's forgotten and layed to the side for the next 20 Samsung released that week. Even the new Tab 4 is a waste of money, the Tab 4 should have been what the Tab 3 was, so it's already obsolete, their just fast-food tablets.
If you check out the general forum the majority of threads are for the 7 inch model, why anyone in their right mind would buy such a piece of garbage is beyond me but you know it's bad when Samsung's cheapest model gets updated before the higher end model and I use that term lightly.
Spend a little money and buy something decent, checkout some of the new Windows 8 tablets they are very good and are reasonably priced.

Few questions really about the Tab Pro. This will be my first tablet, I think I have convinced myself to finally get one. I am looking at this (Tab Pro) or the Tab S. The draw back for the S is that it has a Exynos Processor which I think will not get as much development as this has or will (due to the snapdragon processor). Is this a fair assessment? With that said, is my safer bet with the Tab Pro? I know it has been out longer but looking at the development here vs S is a big difference. This has more options and interest it seems. Specs wise and screen wise, articles seem to lean towards the Tab S but not by a whole lot. Price isn't to much of a worry but since the Pro is cheaper it helps.
For the Tab Pro, scrolling thought the development, it seems the 8.4" has more development for it? It seems the 8.4 (SM-320) has more threads going then the SM-520 (10"). With that said, it seems the two don't interact well with each other, you need specific roms and kernels for the model you have. Can someone clear this up for me, am I looking at this correctly?
Overall, it seems the Tab pro 8.4" would be the better choice? I have looked at the Nexus 7 but with no sd slot and specs, kinda killed it. I know the Nexus 9 is rumored but still no SD card slot and supposedly its going to be $300-400.
Thanks
The 10" Tab Pro also has Exynos from what I understand. I have a 10" note, and the processor is fine to run the tablet. I'm not sure what you are looking for in developer support, so I can't say if it is available in one model or not. The Tab S appears to be better supported by Samsung, as their new/most current device. If you really are looking at developer support as the #1 goal, then Nexus is the way to go. Might want to hold out for the new Nexus 9.
I will be buying an 8" tablet this fall for a gift. If I had to buy today, it would be a Tab Pro. That could easily change in the next month.
Howdy, folks.
I'm in the market for a tablet, and not familiar with the Samsung lineup, so I could use some guidance here.
First, I'm not sure I understand the difference between the A and S series. I assume it's a CPU issue, and I seem to recall a Tab A that I played around with didn't have an accelerometer and/or GPS, which are both critical for me.
Then we get to the firmware. I need to run Xposed and Xprivacy. Obviously that means I'll need to be able to root the machine. Would I be correct in assuming that I'm stuck with getting an S2, or is it possible to downgrade an S3 so I can benefit from the better hardware specs?
My choices seem to be an S2 at $480 or an S3 at $550 except that the S3 ships with a pen and LP, if I'm not mistaken, which knocks me out of the box in terms of running Xprivacy unless I can downgrade the OS.
Anyway, your input here would be helpful, and any pointers on unlocking / rooting would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
I think since late 2014, the Samsung tablets were split into just two lines, the Tab S, the high-end line, and the Tab A, the low cost line. In my humble opinion, the Tab A line is utter crap and it hasn't been updated effectively since 2015. If you want a cheap low end tablet, you might as well just buy one of those sub-100 dollar Amazon Fire tablets. Their specs are in the neighborhood of those Tab A tablets, but Fire tablets are much cheaper. Quite sadly, I think Samsung's high end line Tab S has also lost its way. I mean, I certainly love the idea of a high end Android tablet, but not at 500-600USD, specially when it comes with outdated flagship SoC, like the Snapdragon 820.
I love my Tab S 10.5, but if I am forced to replace it tomorrow, I'll probably get the Huawei Mediapad M3. Its hardware specs are high end enough to check nearly every box, and it costs under 300USD.
Excellent suggestion. I was wondering about alternatives to Samsung.
How would you compare the M3 to the S3? Can it be rooted? The new Samsung got excellent reviews for both construction and performance, and I confess the pen has appeal. I also wanted a 10"-ish screen, and the Huawei comes in at 8, so while the price is right, you give up a fair amount of screen.
I can pick up the S3 32 gig with a keyboard case for $550, which was more than I wanted to spend, but i can live with it since I'm not the type to buy a new device every year. Or even every two or three years, for that matter.

I have purchased 5 Tab A devices, 3 T280 and 2 T555. Me the missus and little one have the T280, my mother and I have the T555. Both have an accelerometer and GPS. I don't know of a Samsung tablet that doesn't unless you meant gyroscope?
The Tab A T280 is stuck on Lollipop and the T550 runs Nougat.
I don't have issues with either for how I use them.
I also own the Tab S, but I use the Tab A T555 far more as it's light, comfortable to hold and runs just fine.

The first thing I do when looking for a new tab is xda support, if you can't get a custom rom for it, forget it!
M3 support is thin to non-existant, they are just getting it to root, and no TWRP ( I think) , other than that its the best hardware for the price. Tab s2 is good, Tab A fair, s3 just starting.
Xposed is now officially on NU, the main framework has been released, modules compatibility varies.
For that amount of cash, your in ultrabook / chromebook territory.
A tablet that does not fit in a pocket, and costs the same as a dell ultrabook with 256 gb hdd and an i5, is a bad choice maybe?
I use my t705 as a pocket device, with the aspect ratio it just fits, and the fact that's its also a very cool phone makes it a nobrainer.
Also remember the folding screens are just months away, once they are out most of the current tabs will be obselete real quick.
I want something larger format (~10") for use when doing demos for customers, casual browsing or web work away from my desk or when traveling for short spans. An 8" screen is not of interest.
