I mean, if I don't use my phone it can last for 2 days, even more, but if I run, for example, a stopwatch for 10 or 15 minutes it drains 80%.
Or, if I'm playing any game... I play it for 10 minutes and I get the notification to put my phone on charging. And in next 2 or 3 minutes the phone turns off by itself.
I tried to charge it to 100%, calibrate, wipe battery stats, still nothing.
Any thoughts on how to fix this, or i need to find a new battery?
Edit: I tried to change the ROM aswell, but nothing.

I had the same problems and I think it's worth buying a new battery. My phone powered off 5 minutes after it was fully charged and no battery wiping or whatever helped. Then I bought a battery for 6 € and now it lasts for ages.
I actually don't even know where to buy a new battery in my country.
I gotta ask somebody.
Edit: Will Ace's battery work on our Gio, I can find Ace's battery? I think it will work.

Yes it works.
Nw when u ll buy a new battery use it fully till ur phone dies off i.e switches off, nw turn it on n again let it die, nw enter recovery wipe battery stats n charge till 100% with ur phone switchd off. Turn on n u ll get a caliberatd battery n if u r on 3G then there will be battery drain no matter what u do. Use Greenify to hybernate ur background apps. Hit thnx if helpd

hello there,
few month ago i updated my xperia arc to 2.3.4, rooted it and almost everything works fine,
exept a strange battery problem...
everytime i fully charge my phone and boot it up, it seems that the boot process needs round about 2-7 % of the battery.
after the boot i check the battery and its not fully charged (mostly 96%),
also the battery drain is really massive, every minute i use the phone it drops like 2-3 %.
any thoughts?
also, is there a new firmware already?
thanks
Well its battery drain issue..
On .42 fw..
Umm, what about your usage?
Do u use so many apps?
About the boot,
When u boot and the battery is not 100%,
Charge it again until 100%,
Turn off, take off your battery for 10 seconds,
And then turn on, charge again till 100%,
Repeat the steps until you got 100% when u boot ur phone.
It works for me, maybe works too for you.

The first month this phone was great on battery... Its horrible now 3 months later! I shut off all the samsung stuff that suck up the battery. I have the screen power down to the lowest setting. Sometimes when i charge the phone is says its fully charged and when i unplug it its about 98%. Does this once and awhile. I've been playing a games for about 1.5 hours. The batter is about 40%. Is this normal?
10 minutes later i just checked the phone and now its down to 30%... wtf is going on with this battery?

1.) You should get Better Battery Stats from the Play Store so you can see what could be causing this battery drain.
2.) When you unplug your device and it shows 98% it's a good thing. It means that your fuel gauge is working correctly. We have a safety feature that helps the battery to never get over charged. It helps the battery last a lot longer. The way these batteries work is if it's constantly overcharged over an certain amount of time it would deplete the battery life.

you have something in the background going on. could be a rouge app. check Better Battery Stats.
A coworker of mine has a Galaxy III on ATT same as I do. She complained about her battery to me. We both opened our Elvision Battery Widget and saw that screen times and time on battery were within 30 minutes of each other (1hr 50m mine vs 2hr 15m hers). She had 73% and I had 95%; her widget said 38XXmv, mine said 4100 (I have more stuff on than her). I had her restart her phone just for the hell of it, then I flipped through her settings and TURNED OFF battery saver. The problem went away. I've never used the battery saver and my battery stays golden all day. That said there's no telling if the restart did more for the phone than turning off the battery saver. I told her to turn on battery saver for 2 hours this weekend and see what it does. Will keep everyone posted.

Are you on stock?
Stock ICS on my S3
I'm rooted on stock ICS...
Google Now is a huge battery drain from my experience.
I'm rooted stock. No battery issues in fact gs3 has some of the best battery life I've seen second only to my hoxl.
Download autostart fromvthe market.
Find out what's running at os startup.
Disable. Things like googleplay, Googlemaps etc. Don't need to start up.
In fact the only thing required is integral Os components. At start up, I have alimost everything Google disabled.
None of your maps need time start when boot. None of them. Keep in mind I'm talkin aps like ....anything AT&T... w/e you dl'd from market.
Also go through and disable bloatware.
This will help. check your battery. It should be flat or slightly concaved. If it's bulging even slightly get a new one.
Report back and let us know.

Neither do i.
But once you select the test, the % will stay there for a long time before dropping again.
Tried the code and pressed quick start and my battery lost charge from 48% to 25%. Weird...
It that for battery recalibration? Or just a code to suck the battery.

Its there for recalibration of the battery.
After you flash a new kernel, you should at least use and then load your battery 5 days. Within this time you may use the code as follows.
Charge up to 100%, then use the code and turn of the device and again charge the phone untill its full. Turn it on and use it.
After 4 or 5 days you will recognice, that these drops of the load will not be as big as before, or even been dismissed.
Have fun!

I'm not fully convinced that's the proper procedure.
Is there any official documentation on what the quick star command does?
I ask this because lately (I have the galaxy s4 from about 2 months now) the phone dies with battery at about 20% to 30%.
If I hit quick start, it shows 5% but after a reboot it showed 23%.
But soon after that it powered off.
It's like 22% is 0%, and it seems I can't reset it.
Update
I now clicked the quickstart button while keeping the flash led ON with a flashlight program. That seems to have worked because the battery gauge now says 11%.
We'll see how it goes.
Second Update
Nothing. I think the battery is broken.
It dies at about 20%-30% and when the phone restarts, plugged in, it says it's 20%.

That's because "quick start" just LOADS the battery by executing a cpu heavy task. Then it resamples the battery voltage.
Charge the battery (possibly with a slow charge on a 1A or 500mA ac adapter) then disconnect the adapter, when the battery drops off 100%, hist quick start again and charge again.
Eventually it will stabilize. If it will not probably your battery is getting bad.

1- make sure u have cwm recovery
2- drain ur battery completely until ur phone dies then remove the battery and leave it for about an hour then try switching it on to make sure its fully drained or not
3- if the phone is turned on and thr is still sm battery then redo step 2
4- wn ur phone doesn't wanna start up cuz the battery is fully drained then blug it to the charger and DON'T SWITCH IT ON just leave it till it comletely charges ur battery to 100% and leave it plugged in for additional 30 or 40 mins
5- ur phone is still PLUGGED TO THE CHARGER, start CWM recovery and navigate to "wipe battery status" in the "advanced options" menu
6- reboot ur phone, ur phone is still PLUGGED TO THE CHARGER and switched on now, leave it till its 100% and additional 15 mins
7- u can UNPLUG IT now

i think a buy a new battery...and if the problem persist (the problem appears with stock rom and with cm9...so i think it's not a software problem) i buy a new phone XD

SOLUTION...
Dude, that happened to me, exactly the same as you mentioned..and found the problem, which is my battery is already dead, to be exact its already bloated( it slowly expanded that it no longer fits the back panel) the solution i did was to replace it with a new one..i have tried everything including the things you have mentioned, and ill tell you there no other methods that worked for me in fixing it but to replace it with a new one, because it is dangerous if you keep on fixingit (charging, flashing, etc) as it have a high chance of exploding...

I suggest you don't let it down below 15%, as soon there's a warning to charge, recharge it ASAP. Rechargable battery still need some electricity though. if you keep discharging it into 0%, there's an event called over-discharging which effecting your battery life span a bit more.
Hi, I had my galaxy S3 from Rogers for almost 1 year and the battery drains like crazy!! When I first got the phone the battery life was ok. It lasted 1 full day (with the settings auto brightness, wifi usually on [when not in wifi area, using LTE], vibrate only, power saving on and snyc on. I turned off gps, bluetooth, location services, and motion). About 6 months ago I dropped the phone in water :S and I got it repaired. The phone battery life was still about 1 full day (with the same setting as above except when I'm not in a wifi area I use 4G to save battery life). After that every month the battery life seems to get worse from 1 full day to about half a day :S. After doing alittle research (this was around May/June) I found out Facebook was killing my battery so I stop using it on my phone then my battery got better (to about 3/4 of a day). But after that in July and August the battery life got really really bad, it will probably only last 5-6hrs. I honestly don't know what is wrong with it now. Is the water damage the problem with my battery drainage?
I'm running 4.1.2, never rooted and I'm running Nova launcher too.

Is it the original charger that came with the phone? And are u charging it from the wall or pc??
Ya I am using the original charger and original cable.. using ac supply, with plugged in wall...
The thing is if I reset my device ( which I have done 2-3 times) and after that, watching video/playing games/ internet surfing etc. With the charger plugged in, works fine... I mean it charges my phone battery fine. Battery is new. Checked its condition with battery monitor pro... it states its good.
But after a couple of months after resetting, I face the problem of slow charging, with my phone in use while plugged in... did a lot of search but didnt help out. Cleared dalvik and other cache.... nothing seems to be working.
