I did that but I think because the core FW is a T-Mobile when I reinstall it I get the T-Mobile play store......I don't know if there are any restrictions but for example if I go into the apps tab instead of the "editors' chaise" I get the T-Mobile recommendations

im pretty sure the play store checks what carrier your on, then shows the appropriate content. So i dont think you are able to disable that, unless you spoof your carrier, which i dont even know if its possible or not, and that would probably just cange it from tmobiles editors choice to "such n such editors choice"
but of course, i can be wrong

He'd be right, there is no T-Mobile Play Store, it is simply a carrier check done by Google. I put an OPTUS (Australia) SIM in my M919 and restarted. The T-Mobile recommendations were gone and then Google Play settings on desktop said my device was now using OPTUS. Put the T-Mobile SIM back in and the recommendations came back.

Isn't that the point of an "unrestricted market" app and/or a "market enabler"? Or, that along with allowing you access things your carrier might block?

Hi all,
I have installed Darky's Raw Steel Edition v3.0 yesterday and it's great. I have only one problem but it's an important one. I can reach Android market and see and download free and paid apps, no problem there. However the problem is market did not recognise me and wants me to buy the same stuff that I have purchased legally before the flashing process. Therefore I can not install many programs via appbrain since I always come into the same buy option. Changing back the product code did not help either.
I have also tried to buy the same applications again, may be it would not charge me again but it did. Any idea how to deal with this problem?
Any idea?
Regards.

That's weird, are you sure you're using the same google account?
Also this is probably better suited to the general forum.

Yes, I am using the same account; I also make the payments with my Google Checkout account and I receive the same confirmation emails to my same address.

As soon as i bought my phone i noticed the playstation pocket store is not available in my country, but i wasn't very surprised since pretty much nothing is available here and I have to use all kinds om methods to cheat PSN,Youtube etc.
Now,I have been using market enabler to allow me to download apps from the american app store, but it's not affecting the PS pocket store,so i was wandering is there any way to unlock the store?
the only thing i can think of (if it actually works) is flashing a "foreign" rom to your phone, which has localization code in it. for example, uk generic 4.... firmware. i could be wrong, so if someone would like to correct me, feel free. but this is the only thing i can personally suggest.
hope it helped!

OK, total n00b here to the forums.
I have a bit of a weird and stupid question, how can I buy tablet apps with the Samsung Galaxy W?
I did do a forum search but couldn't find a topic that would help in my case.
Here's my dilemma, I have a HP Touchpad running CM9 and every now and then want to buy an app for it, but I can't use Google wallet since I don't have a credit card nor will Google accept my debit card, adding to that Google doesn't seem to want to bring their gift cards over to Germany.
So far I got around it due to my phone provider allowing payment for apps and content over my bill, which works for apps that are also available in the phone market.
However, I now want to buy Sketchbook Pro for Tablets, which won't show up on my phone's Play store, so I can't buy it.
So is there an easyish solution?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.
try market helper , maybe it will work on ur phone so google read it as a tablet (not so sure about it) , search it over the internet and download it and tell me if it works

I want to retract this as being BS, I tried it again and it works!
What I did wrong was visiting the store via the app, I tried it through the browser and bang it worked.
Downloading it now
Thank you so much.
I got my Note 2 about a month ago and could not be happier with it. I am an iPhone convert.
The phone is not rooted.
The model of the phone is a Note 2 internationally unlocked from factory phone.
When I got it, it had installed 4.1.1. Then it updated to 4.1.2 – where it remains today.
I have a US credit card and address. There's been no problem purchasing apps from the play store for quite sometime.
Then I found an app that I wanted to purchase the pro version as an in app purchase. Google canceled the order and refunded the credit that I had purchased.
Further, Google blocked any additional purchases even from the browser of my computer (using a proxy).Right now, I'm waiting 24 more hours as when I put in a service ticket, they said wait 48 hours and try to purchase again and if there was a problem they would try to help me.
The problem seems to be with the in app purchase more than anything.
To be able to make this and other in app purchases easier, I would be willing to root my phone if there is a safe way of doing it.
Has anyone figured out how to do an in app purchase with a Note 2? Will rooting the phone give me this ability?
Sure would appreciate any help along these lines.
PS I even wrote to the developer asking if I can send the money directly for the pro version via Paypal or if they could let me buy it in some other way. They wrote back a rather short letter that that was the only way I could do it. I tried one more time to write to them, and they just ignored me. I'd like to give them money and I'd like to have the pro version of their program.
You may want to try market access app, (google market access apk) and spoof a US carrier. You will need root for that.

Thank you.
I looked on the Play Store and do not find market access (apk) or anything similar.
Can you tell me where I might find that?
Is Market Access how you spoof a US carrier or is that something else too I need to do?
Also, I am on a Mac, not a PC. I don't find instructions on rooting using a mac. Everything refers to a pc. Any ideas on that?
Sorry for these questions - even to me they sound very noobish. I working to come up to speed on all this as quickly as I can.

You won't need MAC to do it. Just download it using your phone and install the app.
If I'm understanding correctly, the API's need root access to work.
My device is not rooted yet. And I have a Mac. How do I root my device using a Mac instead of a PC. All directions about rooting my device talk about opening a. exe file on a PC.

Any one with a Verizon variant of the 3XL able to pull and post the most recent APK for the Call Filter app?
I have Verizon service but I am unable to download it from Google play. Interested to see if it will work on the Playstore phone.
9.4.0 2019-02-15 [email protected]_4_0-r8372 is the most recent release per the playstore dated 3/26/19
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vzw.ecid&hl=en_US
here is a link // was older version 9.3.1 sorry it says not compatible for me with pixel 3xl in the market link you posted. and i have older version installed. i am on Q might be the reason
I am curious to see if the latest version will work on my Pixel 3 XL.
I wonder why the play store says that it is incompatible with our device.

I'm assuming something in the build.prop is different between the Verizon variants or the google variants. If not, it might be that Google only let's you update if the app is a vendor installed app.
APK
This was extracted from a VZW LG G5 and should be up to date. Seems to work fine on my Essential PH-1 so far. Happy blocking...
I installed the Apk listed above.
Why is the app asking if I want to subscribe for $3 per month? I thought it was now free.

Go to Account in the hamburger menu, then Subscription status, then Other Options (if I remember right, it doesn't show for me now) and you can find the free option.
They really tried to hide it.
Edit: Dang, it finished activating and now says "Free Trial"!
I'll have to call them probably

Ok: Phone support says the free option will become available after the 10 day trial, which will not automatically start charging. I'll find out in a week and a half if either thing is the case I guess.
I would double check that. I just set my account up and it said nothing of a free trial, and in my app it says I have "spam protection free" and I can subscribe for additional features at $2.99/month.

Installed and activated just fine on my Pixel 3 Xl.
To get free version go to hamburger menu - account - subscription options - there's a free protection option in there. It then "phones home" and in about a minute it said "Free Protection Activated"
The new dialer.apk had this built in

In order to enable the free call filtering, you have to login to your VZW account, go to plan, then apps and addons. There down the list you'll find the call filter with the free option. Then you just have to enable it on your line.
Strangely enough, it says my S8 isn't supported, and I downloaded the apk and it installed no problem, but there's no option in there for the free call filtering. But, it says when you enable it that it may take time to show up on your account.
They have an FAQ about it on their website, which I can't link to because I don't have enough posts. But just google "Call Filter FAQs" and it should show up.
Can anyone post the latest version?
As per the Play Store, the latest version is: 9.4.0 2019-02-15

I just wanted to bump this up in hopes someone can post the new APK. I have no idea why Verizon is restricting from older phones, as it works perfectly. But for now, installing the APK directly works fine.

Awesome, thanks! Was checking on some other APK repositories and couldn't find any with an actual download. With the HTC U11 I've got I don't think the default caller app has the ability to use the Google Spam filters, might check into getting a different phone app, or just upgrade soon

I don't see anything about a Google Spam filter on that website, but I do see newer versions of the Verizon Spam Filter (which I'm glad to have). Am I missing something?
Also, I tried installing the latest version of the Verizon Call Filter and it just keeps saying "app not installed". I have enabled install from unknown sources, but I noticed you can't uninstall the app from your phone once you have it on there.
i installed the apk. . and i actived with verizon. how do know its working? plus a spam call came thro
I'm hoping someone could help me out here...
I've looked through the Build.prop, and have dug through the system / vendor partitions trying to find the answer to this:
What are the differences between the VERIZON model and the unlocked one in terms of how the play store sees the device?
I have the unlocked version, and use it on Verizon, and it is frustrating to not be able to find and install many VERIZON specific apps, especially when considering the fact that I pay for the add-on services.
I have also downloaded the VERIZON version on the google factory images page, but even after flashing this version there is no Verizon boot screen (not for sure there is one tbh), and no call filter, or name ID apps are available through the play store!
