Its the smart stay feature. haven't quite figured out if it means its detecting or not detecting your eyes when that icon shows. On my note 10.1 running omega, the icon is always present and same color. On my s3 running deTmobilized, it showed up and stayed there once all day until I plugged it in and hasn't shown itself since. :what:

On S3, it shows up when detecting, and then goes away. When the icon comes up, it means its trying to detect where your eyes are seeing.

If your phone is at an angle such as for reading, smart stay uses the front facing camera to detect if your looking at your phone. If your not it will let your phone screen turn off. And if it detects your eyes it will keep you screen on. Smart stay didn't work well on the original software but seems to work better since the update.

Actually you can (somewhat)...Well I did with the Handsent SMS app. Its possible to change the colors for the notifcation within that app so I'm guessing that the notifications colors only work if the app has it within the settings.

I'm getting something different on my Note 2.
Red is the same, for power.
Blue is for notifications (sms and such)
Haven't seen a green notification light yet.

Wow, thanks to this thread, I finally came to know that Note 2 does have a notification LED just like galaxy s3 as someone told me it doesn't have. Lightflow is good but drains a lot of battery. Try this as well https://play.google.com/store/apps/...51bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5rb28ubGlnaHRtYW5hZ2VyIl0.

Yeah...that movie was HOT
So I'm watching a video (expanded to full screen) on the stock browser at night in a dark room when the screen times out.
I can't find any way of switching the screen timeout off, and have to resort to setting the time to maximum and having to reopen the screen and restart the video every 10 minutes.
There has to be a solution to this annoying problem? Please?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Is smart stay enabled or is it just not working on the dark room ? If smart stay is not working then you can just pull out the s pen from it's holder or hover with the s pen instead of closing the video.

U can found more from note 1 thread..
Not saying watch video can confirm the screen burn issue..just saying maybe it can cause life span of screen burn become short..but definately amoled screen can not avoid it..

Fair enough, but there is "no issue."
Why have this phone if you don't use it? Besides, full screen is probably one way to AVOID burn in.

Yes, this avoids the screen burn. Screen burn only happens because some of the led's are used more than others which is why some degrade faster which results in varying color contrasts. Using full screen almost all the time however, uses all of the led's, thus all of them will degrade at a slightly similar rate and the change of color contrast would not be as noticeable to the common eye.

I'm having the same problem not sure why there would be this problem considering no phone for the last 4 years have had this problem. Terrible overt sight by Google/Samsung. Really interested if some one finds the solution to this.
Use Profile Scheduler from the play store it lets you set up a profile with a setting for screen time out never option. Thats the only reason I use it. I listen to alot of music in my truck and it keeps the musoc player from going to sleep.
Screen time out issue is only when watching flash enabled videos in browser.
Reason : Flash is not supported in Jellybean officially,
So just using flashplayer.apk will not rewrite screen timeout settings in system files.
And, smart stay doesn't work in dark room with lights off.

Download "Screen on" from playstore.
Check the application ie Internet for stock browser and then check enable.
I love the led notification, nothing like waking up in the middle of the night and looking over and knowing you don't have any notifications because the light isn't going off... but when I don't need a flashlight BECAUSE it's going off it gets annoying... I wanna be able to go to sleep if I'm ignoring it; yet have it there to know I have things to look at.

Sure its nice to know if you have a message from afar but really? One of the first things I did when I got my GS3 and Note 2 was go into settings/display/LED Indicator/and unselect all boxes.
i don't think you can lower the intensity, but you can turn off the notifications and us an app called NoLED. it puts a notification on your screen instead. since OLED only lights up the active pixels the drain should be any more than the notification light. i use it with my sammy droid charge that has no notification lights.
Why not just go into settings and turn on Blocking Mode?
You can set the time frame it's active. It can keep led off, notifications, phone calls etc. You can change the settings for it.

Its a really nice feature for when ur walkimg around ur office or house and just wanna see if u have any missed txt, but i did read something online where it drained the battery super fast. So i shut the feature off and i literally got 5hrs more out of the battery, wasn't worrying through out the work day if it was gonna die.

used it for about an hour, was pretty meh. Good concept, but bad implementation. I have my phone on my desk and it was always turning on and off. But when I needed it to to show me quick glance data, it worked about 50% of the time.
The only thing from that menu I love is the Palm Swype to screen capture.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 2
I have been testing the quick glance feature and noticed that it works best in low light conditions, especially in darkness..
I sleep with my phone on my bed (I use it as my alarm clock) and with the lights out quick glance works for me every time. I have gotten to like it because the screen is much easier on the eyes, at night (dimmer), than hitting the power button to check the time/notifications. I disable it during the day though.
The Palm swipe for a screen shot is awesome. It is a much faster way to take a screen shot than having to take out and use the S-Pen.. I wish the screen didn't turn white while swiping though. Not a big deal I just think the loud click upon taking the shot is enough to let the user know the shot had been taken.
I used it when I got my Note in November but as mentioned, it does cause a very noticeable battery drain.

I definately recall seeing it. I know exactly what you are talking about. I don't see it anymore so either my kernel (ktoonsez) fixed it or it was a bloat app.
I can confirm the issue on my I9500. Its not only limited when under the sun, also happens when you turn the brightness level all the way down. I'm still on stock kernel, maybe custom kernel may solve the issue. No settings in stock has mitigated or fixed this issue for me.
