Stuck at Google logo after update - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

I just got my Nexus 7 an hour ago, once i setup with my google account then it asked me to install an update (apparently it says 4.3 update) so I let it do its job and left it there. Now it's stuck on Google logo for quite some time. This is weird for me since I didn't root or flash anything to it yet. Anyone facing the same problem?
EDIT: apparently it got to the X screen after i hold the power button and turn it on again. this is strange...the update shouldnt cause something like this to scare new users lol.

Hold down the power button 30-60 seconds until it reboots again. See if it goes through.
If not, boot into recovery and factory reset.
Power down tablet, Power+VolUp until you see Google, release buttons.
You'll see fallen android, in this exact sequence, Press and Hold Power, then press/release VolUp, then release Power.
You'll see a menu, press VolDown to scroll to wipe data factory reset. Press Power to select.
When it is done, Reboot should be selected, Press Power to select reboot.

My nexus broken?

It froze so I rebooted it and now it won't get past the Google screen... It will literally sit there for hours... What should I do? Is it fixable?

Factory reset through recovery....
If your tablet is on, power it off.
Press and hold Power until the device powers on, then immediately press and hold Volume Down (while still pressing Power). You will see the word Start with an arrow drawn around it.
Press Volume Down twice to designate Recovery mode.
Press Power to restart into Recovery mode. You will see an image of an Android robot with a red exclamation mark.
While holding down Power, press Volume Up.
Use the volume keys to scroll to "wipe data/factory reset" and press Power to select it.
Scroll down to "Yes - erase all user data" and press
It will erase everything, but should get things up and running.

[Q] F240L Stuck at bootscreen

my phone is stuck on bootscreen I tried flashing it following this method. Everything went successful but I can't go to recovery menu to reset the device cuz it's stuck on bootscreen. Anyone got any idea how to fix this?
I have found, on my phone anyway, that when you hold the volume down key and the power key it just sits there. I have to hold the buttons, let the power button go til I see the "LG" logo and hold the power button again. Then it gives me the factory reset screen. But you have to let go of the buttons as soon as you see this menu. Then you can hit power, hit power again, and it boots into recovery. Give that a try and see if it works.

ok so I hold down both power and volume down button then the lg logo showed up I released the power button and hold it again then the lg logo disappear and comes again and then it goes blank (um still holding both of the buttons) and the notification light keep on blinking. um really starting to get worried here I exchanged the phone with my galaxy s3 there is no way I cud return it now and I wudn't even try to re-flash it if it wasn't for the miui rom it had installed when I got it. I just want my phone to be at default 4.1.2 and now I'm clueless :crying:
however if I press and hold power and volume up button and when lg logo appear I keep pressing the volume up button rapidly this shows up:
http://gyazo.com/b49b6d1fe9e069446163af311befa8aa
i dont even know what it says its like in korean or something
That looks like the Korean download mode. When I use that method to get into recovery it's a bit tricky. I hold both buttons, nothing happens, while stil holding the volume down button, I let go of the power button just till I see the LG logo, then I hold the power button again til the small menu pops up. You have to let go of the buttons really quick when you see this menu because the power button and volume buttons are also the select button for this menu. Holding the buttons too long causes the menu to think you want to exit it....At least that's how it acts on my phone.
Remove battery, wait for 5 sec, attach battery again. press and hold power + volume down + home key, when you see reset option or recovery press power button to confirm and it will be fine.
Just try in the lg mobile support tool on top left and select update recovery the firmware will download and the phone will alobe get in the download mode and you don't have to do anything.

Make sure your device is fully charged and turned off.
Simultaneously press and hold the power and volume down buttons.
When the LG logo shows up, release the power button only.
Now press and hold the power and volume up button while keeping your hold on the volume down button.
When the factory reset screen appears, release your hold on all buttons.
Press the power button to continue.
Press the power button again to confirm if you’re sure you wish to continue with the reset.

Stuck at multi-media on-vehicle screen, can't get to recovery

I have a MTCB KGL that was running Android 4.2.2. I now flashed it to 4.4 with the Malaysk rom. The flash went ok (it said) but when it rebooted it was stuck at the first screen (kitkat logo shows, and 'multi-media on-vehicle is shown). I cannot get into recovery either, so I'm kind of stuck.
Is there some other way to reach recovery, besides trying all methods described below?
1 Press reset button and power button together
2 After about 5 secs release reset button, but keep pressing power button
3 When booting screen appears release power button.
4 It boots into recovery.
--Update 1-- some units without front USB have a different procedure
Firstly power on the unit and then long press the power button and then reset. Then the unit will get three rings and you loose your hand on the power button and short press the power button again. (thanx @netay)
--Update 2-- some others have this procedure (thanx @R4D3N)
1. Turn off the unit by holding 3-4 sec the power button.
2. Hold the RESET button + POWER button for 5 sec
3. Release the RESET button and keep pressing the POWER button for 2 sec
4. Release the POWER button and wait. The Recovery menu appears.
5. With the Volume knob you can move up/down and long press on Volume/Power button to select the option.

Do you have a hardware power button. I have kgl unit with hardware button and i can enter recovery by switching unit off then switching on by pressing and holding the power button for 10 - 15 seconds till the unit lights flash. Release button and unit boots into recovery.
Did you follow the update instructions exactly including wiping data before and after install from the recovery menu.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
Yes, there is a hardware power button. I used it with the reset button before to get into recovery. But now it just hangs on the first screen. None of the 'known' methods of getting to recovery seem to work.
The power button works though. I can switch the device on/off, but that's about it.
I did follow the instructions correctly. I was not able to wipe data after the install because the device rebooted automatically after flashing, and then got stuck.

How to reliably start TWRP

I have TWRP installed, and have managed to run it a few times. Now I cannot start TWRP at all.
From off, if I switch on, the following happens:
1) Screen with Samsung Galaxy A70 - Secured by Knox
2) 0.5 seconds later another screen, "this phone's bootloader is unlocked and it software integrity. .." and "press power key to continue..."
3) 5 seconds later, same screen as (1)
4) 3 seconds later, red letters "this phone is not running Samsung's official software"
5) 3 seconds later blank screen with "samsung" and then booting to android.
In my experience I have to flash twrp every time I want to use it( I don't know the reason but I couldn't fix it ) , for booting twrp on the other hand I turn off the phone first, then I press power button+volume down until the "this phones bootloader..." screen appears, here is the tricky part, you have to quickly let go of these two buttons, press power button, let go of the power button (after the warning disappeared) and then press volume down button (and hold it) until twrp logo appears, this happens really fast so you may need to do it a few times to get used to it.

Yes, same here, the only time I have managed to run TWRP on this phone, is right after a flash.

Power off the device, plug into a pc, wait for it to start charge, hold vol up and power till it turns on. Wala boots to twrp. If you have magisk installed, you can use the reboot option within magisk.

Samsung changed how to enter recovery on Android 11. Power off device, plug into pc, wait for it to charge, then hold vol up and power till it turns on. Alternatively, if you have magisk installed, use the reboot options within magisk.
I did that. Thanks!
But it has gone to:
Android Recovery
Samsung /a70qxx/a70q
11/RP1A.200720.012./A705FNXXUB5DVB3
user/release-keys
Use volume up/down and power.
Reboot system now
Reboot to bootloader
Apply update from ADB
Apply update from SD card
Wipe date/factory reset
...
...
...
Where is TWRP? It seems it's gone.

That's because you're not installing it properly go back to my guide and follow it exactly and stop listening to these other people. I've been modding this device since it first came out with Android 9, I know every inch of this device. You're getting confused by what other people are telling you

It fails here, on this step. After successful flash of recovery.tar, power + vol down to reboot, cable still connected, nothing you can do now can bring TWRP up. The phone boots into Android.
EDIT: I think I have now got it. I will update in a few mins.

After successful flash of recovery.tar, power and vol down to reboot, as soon as the phone screen goes blank, immediately release all keys and press and hold vol up. Must be as soon as screen goes blank. The device will then reboot twice and land you in twrp splash screen. You must hit vol down and power after successful flash then when screen blanks, vol up. If you miss this step, twrp will not hold and revert back to stock recovery.
Here is the notes I made today:
****************************************************************
INSTALL + START TWRP
phone is off
press up + dn
insert cable
go into download (press up)
ODIN 3.14 + AP:tar(vbmeta.img+twrp.img), auto reboot off, press upload
when it succeeds, press dn + pwr until it reboots
then quickly up + pwr until it starts (no need to hold down)
this starts in TWRP
from powered off
press pwr button
goes into twrp or android(system) -- depending on what was used last time
if we used reboot->system last time it will now **Always** go into system!
to go back into twrp:
switch off
power cable until charge
pwr + up until it starts
****************************************************************
The above means that you CANNOT go back to TWRP unless you have a cable and a PC near by.
