[Q] Accidentally installed both CWM and TWRP - Cannot Access Recovery Now - LG Optimus G (International)

I have an unlocked and rooted e973 running stock 4.1.2 (E97320e). I have somehow managed to flash both TWRP and CWM as a custom recovery, and now cannot access recovery mode at all. I know this because ROM Manger shows both under the "Recovery Already Installed" section. I can boot normally and access download mode with no issues, but if I am trying to get into recovery mode I always get a black screen that shows the LG logo and says "secure booting error! cause : boot certification verify". If I use ROM Manager or GooManager to reboot to recovery I always get a warning pop-up "unfortunately com.lg.hiddenmenu has stopped" before it reboots to that secure booting error screen.
So I'm really not sure how to fix this, I just want to start trying some different ROMs, but need to get the custom recovery sorted out first. Should I just follow this guide for unbricking? How about doing a factory reset (booting with power and volume down)? Will being rooted/unlocked matter for doing a factory reset? Would it even clean up the mess I have made of the recovery? I guess I am just looking for a way to wipe everything completely clean and start fresh since I have all my important stuff backed up. I should note I got this phone unlocked and discovered a "NOT FOR SALE" engraved into the side after peeling all the stickers off.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
edit: I decided I might try fastboot erase recovery, only to discover I cannot access the bootloader or fastboot mode. adb reboot bootloader just reboots the phone like normal and starting in fastboot mode by holding volume down and power just takes me to the factory reset screen. Any ideas?
edit: Tried to use TeenyBin, but LGNPST doesn't detect my device ("no port connected") even when it is properly connected in download mode.

Not to be that guy, but its been stated several times to use FreeGee to install custom recovery. Mainly because even if you do install it correctly som other way, your bootloader would be locked and if you install something then, you get a soft brick (in a good scenario). Make sure you have root and grab FreeGee from the market and let it install.
Also, why would you keep a phone that says "NOT FOR SALE"? I wouldnt touch it with a stick and send it back wherever you got it from.

I bought it at cost from a guy on Kijiji (Canada's craigslist equivalent) brand new. He claimed he had a bunch of them because his company was going to use them but then last minute they decided to go with blackberry so he had to sell them. I didn't realize it had the not for sale until i was home and peeled all the stickers off, and since it worked fine with my existing SIM I just kept it.
Anyways, I will give freegee a shot and see if that can fix the problem. I have been looking through many different resources and threads and never saw it mentioned to use freegee to install a custom recovery, but I guess it's worth a shot. Thanks!
edit: It worked! I can now finally get into TWRP 2.5.0. Thanks again for the reply!

downgrading from rooted/unlocked vzb to ics rom

First let me say ive used this site many times and never needed to post as all my questions were already answered, so for the many times ive not needed to post thank you all for being so great and helpful!!
That being said im hoping im just using the incorrect rom or going about it wrong. we switched carriers at work and my sprint lgog is sitting in a drawer while my wife uses a droid 4 on a regional carrier because they cant flash phones running JB. So for mothers day i thought i would downgrade to ICS and get this phone flashed for her. Thus far ive managed to root, unlock bootloader and fix two softbricks using teenybin's work. The softbricks came after trying to install both LS970ZV9_ODEX_STOCKROOT_1_13 and LS970ZV9_DEODEX_STOCKROOT_1_13 using twrp. I selected backup and wipe before doing both. Is there a different rom i need to use post VZB to install a ICS rom? or are these roms ok im just installing them improperly? TIA
*update* after trying to install the LS970ZV9_02.bin update with lgnpst the phone hung at 85% and upon reboot would hang at the 4glte screen, I tried teenybin unlocker again and the phone wouldnt boot at all. The lg logo would flash and then blank screen...i couldnt seem to toggle the power at all and it wouldnt even charge on wall charger. after 20 mins of frantic "oh #^#$" button pressing i finally got it to go into recovery mode and recovered back to zvb. It seems mostly back to normal now other than the wifi doesnt seem to be on even though it says its on, no emblem in notification area and wont connect to my wifi when told to.
*update2* after doing factory restore i got my wifi working properly. So i then rerooted and then reinstall teenybin with lgnpst i was able to get into twrp and restore my primary backup.... So now i THINK im back to square 1, rooted, unlocked vzb...at least everything seems to be back to normal. 3rd time is the charm which in this case means i think im going to wait to hear from someone more knowledgeable than i before i screw something up i cant fix
4th attemt 4th fail
so i tried to flash LS970ZV9_02, a totally stock unrooted, locked rom i found here on xda...i did a factory reset before booting into twrp, wiped cache and dalvik, loaded the rom and it boot looped....:crying: i dont know what im doing wrong unless these phones just refuse to downgrade....
I suggest you get on the optimus g IRC. They are very helpful. You may need to find the older radios and flash those after you downgrade. LGNPST should work, normally when it reboots at 85% its a good indication that it worked properly. Perhaps you could find a copy of the ls970zv8.bin and try to install that. Good luck.

Any way to re-charge the battery if stuck at boot ?

I have a E988 indian version which is stuck at boot with the "secure booting error cause : Boot certification verify",
I can get only into download mode and no recovery or can not boot into OS,
Earlier when i was in the situation i could get into download mode and use LG support tool to flash stock, But now i am getting battery low error..
My question is "Is there any way to recharge the phone if stuck at secure booting error or in download mode ?"
I tried offline KDZ flashing also but there also i was getting battery low error.
Thanks
If you can get to recovery. Mine charges while in recovery.

Try a factory reset by holding power and volume down at the same time. Press power button to confirm reset. If you do this, sometimes it will reboot you in to recovery, if not try it again and this time manually enter recovery.

If i try to factory reset it initially asks for do you want to go ahead with factory reset and after i confirm the same old error of secure booting comes in... (factory reset does not happen), And i can not go into recovery mode directly using the volume up and power button...

I hate that stupid low battery message. It's so dumb that they do not allow you to continue at your own risk. I have also had this problem going from AOSP back to stock. The only safe way to do it is using LG Flash tools first, then flash one of those stock zipped roms. Now it is too late for that. Do they sell your handset in the country you live in? If so, they can fix it in store in most cases. For me, they don't sell this phone in my country, I was just lucky enough to be able to continually try to factory reset and then my phone randomly booted in to recovery (don't know why or how, it just did). After that, I flashed lockified TWRP and CM11 again.

Hey, My G Pro is on Miui and everything works fine on it. I can enter recovery mode and all that. But, I want to revert back to stock and this low battery error keeps popping upon during offline flashing. I have seen your method for bypassing it, but I have not found a solution. Is there anything else I can possibly do? Thanks!

This is what I did by accident
The problem, as I see it, is once you root your phone and put the custom recovery on it, CWM or TWRP, it overwrites your factory recovery. I tried using a 10k flashable zip I have to get my phone back to stock. BUT once I tried to get the OTA update to 10P, as another member here pointed out, My phone boot looped. So my question is, is there a way to remove the custom recovery and restore the stock recovery WITHOUT having to go through the PITA process of using flash tools? If there is a way it would save people countless hours fixing their phones just to get an update.
I know many of you don't see this as an issue because your whole point IS flashing new Roms. But from everything I have seen of this phone it's more trouble than it's worth. This phone is so very picky it's ridiculous. I just wnna get the damn 4.4 update, have it rooted to remove bloat, and call it a day. But to answer the OP question, you always have the option of buying a battery station online and charging your battery that way.
Fixed low battery error
My friend managed to fix the low battery error. He tested the method on my phone and during flashing the error did not show up. Will be creating a new thread which fixes the low battery warning soon. Stay tuned !

Nice work. And that thread will definitely help allot of others with that issue.
TL;DR
Aside from all the technical stuff, and since the g pro has a removable battery(thank god for that) there are several chargers that you can use which charge the battery outside of your phone. Here where i live (honduras) I have seen quite a few and had one myself(used it to charge spare batteries).

[Q] Semi-Borked?

Hi all, pretty much a phone noob hoping to get some help. I'm probably gonna write a book but I want to provide as much info as possible...
My D710 had been working fine running rooted GB27. I decided to flash the "Not Now" rom. Seemed simple enough and very straightforward...
After flashing I got stuck in a boot loop. Read up on how to get out of boot loop and reflashed selecting wipe and Fix Permissions.
No help, still boot loop.
Went back to recovery mode and I have stock recovery instead of AGAT. The little android dude is laying on his back with a red triangle coming out of his gut.
After ****ing around some I decided to try wipe/factory reset.
Phone booted! YAY! The Not Now rom is installed (I guess). Phone looks different but most of my apps come back and the phone works (Calls, text, apps run) It seems a little flakey though and the whole thing feels pretty sketchy given how I got here.
I decide I should really flash back to stock and then see what I want to do from there. and now the fun begins:
I can't get into Odin mode
I can't get my computer to see the phone as a storage device. The drivers load and 2 new removable drives show up but neither is accessible.
From the Shut Down menu I have an option for Boot Loader. I selected it and it looks like it's in Odin Mode but Odin doesn't see the phone.
So I have a functioning phone that seems shaky. I'd really like to load a stock ROM again and get it more stable. I'd appreciate if anyone has advice about how I can fix the USB issue (buy a new phone?)
Thanks
John

You need to check "USB Debugging" in the setting mode. I am not on TW so I can't tell you the exact spot. Once that is selected, It should be good to go. You need a custom recovery. I would suggest Philz recovery or AGATs. You will need to wipe data, cache, dalvik.
Thanks for taking the time to respond.
I did manage to restore a backup so I'm back where I started (rooted GB27) prior to screwing around with Not Now.
I'm considering trying to go to Villuminati by following these steps:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48979264&postcount=770
I've got AGAT recovery loaded now so I think that I can skip the first couple of steps...

I don't have the specific locations, but you could do this a simpler way. You need to have these files on SD card.
1. Flash Philz recovery for D710 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2652286
2. Wipe Cache, Dalvik
3. "install" new ROM.
4. Flash Gapps
You should keep Philz on your SD card. It is the easiest way to flash ANY 4.4 ROM. If you want to use the ART, go to developer options and scroll all the way down. Select ART, let the phone reboot. Once it reboots, turn it off for about 1 minute. Turn it back on. You can not use ART with Xposed. They do not like each other. DO NOT USE PHILZ TO MAKE A BACKUP!. Use the recovery that came with the ROM. Only use Philz to flash. Let me know what happens. Before you do anything, make a backup first.
Thanks. I may give this a try tonight.
Thanks for your help.
I've got Viluminati running! Amazing as I was pretty sure I had bricked my phone a few days ago

Help with changing a 'i9082 Spin-off' recovery mode

So, Lately I've fiddling with my quite old 'spin-off' awkward phone. It's a "GT-i9063T" a different 'version' of the i9082 it's exactly the same, all the same specifications and physical size, screen resolution, everything. BUT (I'm not sure of the next statement since I had only one reference) -- The processor's name are different, even tough both have EXACTLY the same specifications.
And also, most importantly, the main difference between the two, is a useless "TV" function. It can capture (sorry not sure about that verb, I'm not American) average, analogical TV signal, and I never used it.
Since it's SO equal to i9082, i was like, FU*K it, let's use i9082 stuff! And, NOTHING, happened.
My first attempt was to normally odin-mode boot, and then change/flash recovery mode so i could install the ROM through there. The thing is, the TWRP (only recovery that I found who supported i9082) did nothing. I install it normally, no errors pops out, (it's almost instantly) odin even say it were successful, but when I reboot and actually try to enter recovery mode, the stock recovery mode is still there. My guess is: I got this spin-off of mine through a plan (those 6 months contracts and they give you a free cellphone) with Tim (the huge Italian communication conglomerate) And I'm guessing it's bootloader might be locked.
Then what i tried was: Flasihfy, the app crashes when i click to choose archive, then i tried to 'bootloader' mode and i couldn't find how to boot to it (no key combo neither ADB worked) and I think it's not a thing for Samsung devices.
But I know that, the fact that, my phone is a different model and i9082 stuff won't work on it just might be the answer.
So, help on getting a custom recovery on? Anyone? ;-;
PROGRESS! Actually, a verdict I think, I found out that, stock rom's replace the recovery on-boot, i haven't found ANY GUIDE mention that detail. So, knowing that, I tried again the TWRP for i9082, it bricked the recovery. The boot froze when I tried to access recovery mode and the red exclamation of death appeared, I even tried to let it load for a few minutes, try again, but NOUP, nothing. It did brick the recovery mode, then I let it boot normally, it did, replaced, my custom recovery and VoilĂ . Back to square one. BUT NO! I MUST CONTINUE I CAN'T LET MY DREAMS BE DREAMS, YESTERDAY I SAID TOMO... So I've started looking to see if I could find a recovery specific to i9063T, and I did, found one on a YT video, I flashed it booted into it and it worked!! So i've started the process, by trying to wipe/factory reset, then i found out the partition table of the CWR i found was messed up and it couldn't wipe the data. SO i reboot, let the CWR replace the stock recovery (it asked permission) and booted normally, restarted the phone and tried to boot onto it again, only to find out it had been replaced anyway ):
Veredict: i9082 stuff won't work because the partitions are different named/organized.

I Bricked and Unbricked my day one V30 in one night (How to not be completly screwed)

I picked up my UK V30 H930 yesterday all fine and saw that LG have unlocked the bootloader on my model so I went ahead and tried it along with trying the alpha TWRP build
So I thought id write about what went wrong and how I recovered from it.
I made the mistake of letting the phone auto update to 10v software verion before I did this. As I had 10f on before when I bought the phone.
I went to load in all the software needed to unlock the bootloader and proceeded to do so but in my haste of the user data being wiped taking a longer then I thought it would I unpluged the phone to try "fastboot flash unlock unlock.bin" again . No such luck already unlocked. It booted back in fine so I thought everything was ok but that was the moment I thought could have caused my entire night to be ruined.
I thought with the bootloader saying it was unlock it was now fine to flash TWRP on now so went to do that and discovered it would no longer boot into the rom anymore coming up with the LG V30 Logo and just staying put. Thought it must be my 10v software version messing it up. Ok ill try to flash a 10f stock kdz. After about an hour or so of 'Finding my feet' with the phones boot methods for download mode, Fastboot and recovery I found that twrp was being strange with mounting the phone tried otherways eventually got the phone talking to the pc by using uppercut with LGUP and having the phone in download mode and the port com channel in device mananger set to com 41. After about 4 tries of flashing KDZ's to the phone it would just come with a "erasing" circle and proceed to get stuck on boot logo again so I messed about with .dlls and tried to other methods. Still nothing.
Now I tried LG Bridge's "Update error recovery" and I was actually talking to the phone for the 1st time so i let it do its thing which took well over an hour to download the kdz file. "Fine just work please". it got to the updating stage at 5% and froze and the phone being in download mode hadnt done a thing. I tried again but still nothing. Eventually now at 6am and having been up all night I went to give up but I manged to get it on to fastboot mode and by chance came across "flashing lock_bootloader" tried and it and it locked tthe bootloader back up (this thing of LG saying it cannot be undone must be rubbish?) now before I tried anything I rebooted the phone . IT BOOTED! onto the fresh 10v KDZ i had installed on it but before anything I wanted to see if it would now run with a unlocked bootloader on its own with no TWRP installed. It works! Now i just need a method of rooting but im now ready at least.
Hope this helps anyone with simular troubles.
Also had some trouble yesterday after trying out some Magisk modules.
On reboot it sometimes got stuck in the LG V30 screen, and sometimes even the bootanimation came up, but it didnt finish the boot lol
Only installed and adblock btw, and tried the Xposed module. Uninstalled that again btw. Now only using Adblock.
Phone also seems to need Power + Vol- to force shutdown for me, not only Power like other phones. Also didnt manage to find a way to boot into recovery when the phone is off, only found a way to get into the factory reset screen ?
sadly i dont have a working sdcard currently (my 3 year old 128GB one is read only for some reason, atleast changes dont get applied), so ill wait for a new one to mess around more ^^
Also working on a LOS14.1 build atm (it compiled, but didnt adapt all parts of thr device tree yet, and no idea if i have all vendor files lol)

nope, doesnt have one. Neither windows nor Linux fail at writing on it, or when deleting files, but as soon as I re-insert the SDCard all changes are reversed. Formatting doesnt work anymore, unknown error. Tried that in Windows, Linux and in the Phone (Androids formatting crashed, TWRPs produced an error after it timed out)
