i had my xperia play and thanks to sony ericsson quality my flex cable broke so i decided to get it repaired, when i got it back the phone was dead it was completely broken has anyone had problems with their play?
You didn't turned on your phone when you take it from repair? Can you return to whoever repair it to do it properly?
Does it enter flash mode or fastboot mode?
Is led on when charging?
Maybe battery is very low so it can't be turned on...
Or just maybe one more xPlay has joined xPlay heaven

If they gave you the phone back and told you it was repaired, go complain to them. Either they lied or fixed it very badly. Besides, when you take something to repair, you get a warranty for that repair as a guarantee that the service was well done and not some paliative (at least that is how things work in my country). Go bother them until they give you a new one (or another phone).

they repaired it so bad that they messed about with parts like the microphone which have nothing to do with it and i got no guarantee with it i only payed a few quid so i thought forget it not worth it anyway as outdated hardware and now have a xperia t so might aswell sell it on ebay for a few quid

IMHO, from that sound, that means guys in repairs didn't put flex cable properly (i had same problem with that sound when i was closing my Play). It noticable on near-open position and near-end position.
But, unless you are willing to fight with guys who repairs your Play, only other option is to sell it.
There is 3rd option, but i dont think you have torex screwdriver?

I need to send my xperia play in for warranty. Anyone that had had any experience do you know if I will receive my xperia play back our a new one or will it be a refurbished one. Also I am in Canada if it makes a difference. Thank You.

In Mexico the first thing they do is factory reset the phone. Then try to reproduce the issue.
If the problem persists, their own techs try to fix it for a few days, if they can't fix it they send it to the manufacturer. About 2 weeks over there and if they fixed it we get the phone back, but if they couldn't fix it they give a new one.
I suppose it's cheaper for them to replace the faulty piece but they still give out new phones sometimes.
The best is acting like you don't know what the hell happened (in case you know) and act like you don't know what rooting is, you've never heard of bootloaders, modding, etc. so they don't try to make it look like it was your fault.
Just out of interest... wht happened to your phone?
I know they will refuse to replace anything with moisture damage and unlocked bootloader.
Its actually more of a hardware problem. My R trigger has stopped working. Do you know about hardware problems? Do they also try to fix those? Thanks!
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
If it is a hardware fault that hasn't been caused by impact damage/moisture then it is worth a try.
But warranty is warranty so give it a go.
Yep I will for sure take it in for warranty I just wanted to know if I get my own xperia play our a refurbished xperia play our hopefully a new xperia play.

I don't think they'll hand over a refurbished one, more than likely it's the same one you took fixed/new piece, a new device or they'll give you a refurbished one without telling you

depends what is wrong with it - Max 2 -3 week...

My right trigger is much looser than the left, and I also managed to scratch the top of my phone by dropping it. if I relock my bootloader anyone got an idea how I can get my phone sorted?
Well I rooted my htc wildfire and overclocked it.
Everything seemed to work fine for a few months
and then...
I got a text message, and I responded to it, but I did also see that my battery was almost empty, then after responding, I putted my phone in my pocket, Then like 15 minutes later, I looked at my phone and it didn't do anything anymore, so I thought, my battery ran out, nothing to worry about then I got home, plugged in my phone... led didn't turn on... phone didn't charge. I was like damn, maybe my battery died? So I went outside to someone who also has a Wildfire and asked if I could try his battery, We switched batteries and my phone still didn't work
Does anyone know how i can fix this? my phone doesn't respond to ANYTHING I've tried
These symptoms are a bad omen.

also @lcd poster
if it was my lcd, my led should still turn on when inserting the phone to a power connection
also I do also think it is something with my mainboard/cpu, i've read on the internet that i'm not the only one with a phone that just doesn't respond to anything anymore (wildfire) even others who hadn't rooted their phone got this issue, although they have garrantuee :s

Yes your warranty is void. But, if you were on a Stock / Sense based ROM, you *may* be lucky and the service guys may not notice.

But maybe they won't start repairing it and give me just a new one, (since it's more expensive to repair the phone then to give me a new one i guess) and then they'll won't notice either?
also, if I do bring back my phone and they find out about it, will they charge me for the repairing costs? even if I don't want it to be repaired if it will cost me? (I already bought an iphone now, but sometimes i just want to experiment back with my android xd)
I really can't answer that mate. Policies vary widely across stores and nations. But, don't hold your breath for a new one, I think that case is extremely unlikely. I guess your best bet is to give them the phone, and have them contact yo regarding it's situation, repairs, and costs (if any) after their preliminary inspection / assessment. Only after their assessment, you give the go ahead to repair / replace (If free ).

HTC and Apple don't roll the same way.
Apple's products aren't even worth repairing, thus they don't bother doing that.
it might be an lcd problem this thing also happened to me...
I know quite a few friends of mine who had similar issues with other HTC devices and they just went to the shop and they were given new ones in a short time. usually guys at the customer service are ignorant and don't check for anything, even if in your situation it should be impossbile to know which rom you're mounting.
my advice is go there and have a brand new wildfire, nobody will discover it's without warranty
Mabye its static?
Once my brothers netbook had a static build up causing a problem i dunno if the same rules apply but try: take out battery -> hold power on for around 30secs, If that didnt work try getting into bootloader holding vol down and power on when your phones off
Hope my ideas worked and that your wildfires better
I have same problems
When i trying root my HTC device ... there are something wrong... so it can't boot after rooting.
I think that it was bricked.
How to unbrick HTC Wildfire? Pls, help me resolv this problem
I have an Xperia Play R800i (o2)
Hi, a few weeks after rooting my Xperia Play I left it in the drawer for 3 days and it went really cold , so when I switched it on my screen had a grey screen with lots and lots of different colored dots everywhere so I quickly unrooted the phone. I forgot to mention than when I rooted my phone I changed the CPU through an app.
It happened every 20 minutes and when it did happen I used to slide the game pad up or press the power button a couple of times and it would go back to normal. And a few days ago I restored my phone to factory settings and now I cant get to the home screen and I also tried updating it using PC Companion but it still shows the screen .
So could someone please tell me if this is a hardware or software issue.
My phone is still locked to o2, I haven't unlocked the boot loader. And my warranty is still valid. I was going to go to the o2 store but thought if someone knew how to fix this because it might have been my fault a little because of me changing the CPU
p.s. I am a newbie to rooting. I followed steps off the internet.
Please someone reply and help me quickly. :good:
Oh no
I just got the exact same problem mate.
I get a weird grey screen every 20 mins just like you mentioned. And the only way I can get back to the normal screen is by sliding up the gamepad.
The phone is still usable but damn it feels like it might be dead soon.
Just to be safe im not going to restore like you did.

Yes, you might as well not and I contacted o2 and now I am going to go to the o2 store and get it fixed. And you might as well get it repaired as soon as possible or it will worsen.
My phone was bought on Amazon. I'll have to try a local shop maybe. If that doesn't work in not sure what I'll do.
Although at the moment it's working fine only getting the fuzzy screen like 3 times a day.

I contacted Sony they said I should try repairing from the sony Ericsson pc suite. He also said if that doesn't work you can send it in to repair. I was told that if it's a hardware problem then they would repair it for free. But if it's a water damage or dropped phone problem it's unrepairable and they would charge me £10.
Pretty pleased with that actually because I'm almost certain my mobile wasn't damaged by a drop or water. So it has to be an hardware issue.
If not then well in screwed.

This is the hardware problem. This is the tape connecting the screen with pad issue. Buy new tape, change and everything will be ok.

If they do send it back unrepaired then I may think of doing this myself.

I went to the o2 store on monday and today I got it back and they didn't charge me and it works fine and it also has 90 day warranty with it. It came really fast. So those on o2 with the warranty send it and they'll fix it. And those on other networks send it in to get it checked if it is under the warranty and for those who don't have a warranty or insurance or whatever then it will cost you.

Mine is having intermittent problems too. So frustrating when you can't do anything at all (can't receive calls!) when the screen stops responding. Will try opening it up and see if the "pins" are not straight.
Thanks.
DO NOT FLASH YOUR PHONE IF YOU DONT KNOW HOW! If you haven't flashed your phone or anything but using it normally, than you can just go to a Sony center, tell them that your touchscreen isn't responding.
If you haven't flashed your phone before, your warranty has NOT been void! So you can go to a Sony center with your warrant.

Hi everybody,
since September 2012 i own a Xperia S. At the beginning it actually worked very well but now its a complete catastrophy. The phone is extremely slow even without any apps, sometimes it just crashes and i have to force a reboot, the walkman app just freezes a few seconds and the music doesnt play in that time, the homescreen with both new and old xperia home is extremely slow and some apps just wont open even after the third click on them and only work if i restart my phone. A few little bugs are ok but when i buy a phone for 400€ i think it should at least work fluently. I meant it was Sony's flagship for Gods sake. The back cover is etremelyscratched and is not matte anymore EVEN THOUGH i used cases from the begining. The S would be such a nice device IF everything would work. I contacted Amazon(where i bought it) earlier and they said they could try to repair it. do you think that could actually help? In addition i must say my phone was rooted and even with custom Roms like xzx it was really slo. I repaired it already using the PC Companion, SUS and even by whiping everything and reflashing the STock firmware, still nothing. What do you think i can/should do? as im still a student i really dont have a lot of money but paying 400€ for that phone and then not being able tu use ist normally is just horrbile.
I would really appreciate your help:
PS: Selling would of course be an option but i would only get 250€ and thats not really a lot and enough to buy a nother Smartphone,,,

Usually, a fresh repair will solve all those slowness. But you said that after tons of repairs, the phone is still sluggish. It is definitely not normal. Best solution is to send it in for warranty or demand for a replacement unit. Best of luck.
i really hope that will work.. else im just going to sell it and buy a nexus
Post questions in Q/A from next time please. Not in General.
And yes it looks like u have faulty unit. Cause XS is not that sluggish as you are experiencing it.
