This has the potential to be a fantastic app, but it has a lot of work required yet. Just off the top of my head, you need the following improvements:
1. The interface needs to be much better designed. I'm sorry, but it looks ugly right now.
2. When the call is answered by any method, switch to the call-in-progress screen. If I use SpeakerPhone Ex to answer calls simply by bringing the phone up to my ear, the screen remains on because of your app, and it doesn't switch to the call screen. Same while answer calls with headsets.
3. Don't show up when not required. If the screen is turned off or locked, or if you are in the Phone app, incoming calls should just be handled regularly. Also give users the option to exempt certain apps (like exDialer, for me).
This is a great idea and I would love to use it, but at least until #2 is fixed, I cannot. Thanks for making it.

there is an app on market that do the same thing?

Very easy to do with Tasker. Costs a bit though, but there's a lot you can do with it.

yes very easy but not the same implementation
with taker i need to do two profile to put/remove silent based on device position
the implementation on samsung touchwiz/htc sense make phone silent only with one motion and only when you do it. I think that with Tasker, if I accidentally put phone on face down (and not voluntary) i'll lost ringtone..
I haven't tested it but this is one choice

yea you can do it without tasker without randomly silencing the ringtone, you can set it to only work when your phone is ringing
Not google voice the actual voice commands like answering or rejecting a phonecall. It was in language and input on ics but I dont see it on Jellybean

You have to have vibrate turned off too, which makes it a no go for me.

Thanks I found it.
Very annoying that text pops up telling you that you can use voice commands within camera, alarm, when a call comes through etc.

I brought this up a while back when the s3 came out.. There has to be a way to modify it to work also when on vibrate.
I keep my phone on vibrate around 80% of the time so I can never use them either.
But I have found out that the voice commands still work on camera even with vibrate on, which leads me to believe it can be enabled on the other commands some how ... I don't know how to program and all that but I would be willing to help in anyway to get it working on vibrate mode

I apologize if this is already known but I'll post it anyway. I was actually able to text using the voice to text feature but heres the kicker....I was currently in a call using the speaker phone! The GN2 didnt pick up the voice coming through the speaker phone, just my voice! I spoke into the phone and sent the text.

Good find! Yeah, Samsung is known to include these neat little capabilities.
I am looking for recomendations for "I lost my phone" apps.
Any feed back would be appreciated.
Thanks
Cerbus anti theft. Its $3, but I heard its really good. You can go on your computer, and you can find your phone on it through gps.
Also if you lost it because of theft you can lock up your phone, wipe your data, record voice, send the phone messages, and stuff like that.
Here's the demo video.

Will it also cause the phone to ring so if you misplaced it you can locate by sound? Will it turn the ringer on even if you had it on vibrate?
LookOut helped me find my phone. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lookout&hl=en
Lookout has a plan b app that can help you find your phone if you didn't have it installed. https://play.google.com/store/apps/...GwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5sb29rb3V0LmxhYnMucGxhbmIiXQ..

If your phone is lost then Plan B sounds like what you need. Based on the positive reviews it seems like a winner.

I lost my phone. I use Sprint Total protection. you can use the computer to locate you phone and locates it right on a map. its free and works fairly well.
I would recommend where's my Droid, really works. I have a buddy who lost his phone, next morning after partying he realizes he doesn't have his phone, luckily his sister installed Where's my Droid on it, good thing he had a screen lock, and even more lucky the heroin addict who took it wasn't smart enough to turn it off. Anyway, turned out to be about 30 miles from where we live, dude returns it, looking all burnt out, skinny as hell, veins all purple ...even tried to get money for him returning it. Lol.

I also prefer the mentioned Cerberus. It does GPS location, and sending alarms like most of these apps. The thing that stood out to me was its remote camera and audio recording abilities. Also, I use a secure lock screen. With cerberus, you can have the phone automatically take a picture using the front camera, if an incorrect pattern/password was entered, and then email that picture. Also, the app is fully functional during the trial period. It's kind of scary how much permission I'm allowing these types of apps to have, but it's a gamble I'm willing to take at the moment.
I'm using Zoner Antivirus

I love Tasker. And i mean love tasker!!! I would like to start a discussion on these setups and cool things to do with Tasker. More people need to buy it!!!!!!!
My personal favorite Profile is one i have setup for a received text with "gpson" in the message. It enables gps and starts polling where the device is going and replies with coordinates every 3 minutes to sender of last text. I use this just in case my phone gets lost or stolen. I keep it pretty stealth as well. It turns off all systems volume to make sure the robber wont hear it. Once again, i Love Tasker and please share your opinions. Post questions, anyone would be happy to help
I tried helping someone or a few weeks ago who wanted the screen to turn on when a kik message appeared, but I'm horrible at tasker. Could you look through the thread and tell me what might have worked better for it?

That is exactly what I would do.
Create Profile>Event>UI> Notification>(pick kik app)
After that add the task you mentioned about turning screen on through secure settings to the profile . That should work assuming a notification is received when a kik message is received
(TASKER MUST BE ENABLED AT ACCESSIBILITY SETTINGS)
Just tested this with messaging app and it worked perfectly. Leave "Title' blank when choosing app/apps

Let us know? It just means no conditions are met to activate a profile. Once you get a kik message after setting this up it should change briefly to something like active profiles I think. Im not sure

Sweet, I'm glad it worked. That was my first foray into the world of Tasker.
Back to the original thread topic: What are some things that you think people might want to see come from Tasker?
One of my biggest blocks in using it effectively is that I don't even know where to begin. I could set it up to automatically turn on wifi when I get home, but it's really not that big of a deal for me to just hit a toggle on the notification panel (same thing with using NFC tags, for me at least). I do like the lost phone texting option, but I haven't lost a phone (or gotten it stolen) in the last 10+ years of having a cell phone.
Maybe I'm just simple in my needs/wants from a cell phone, but I just don't know what type of Tasker automation I'd use regularly. Any suggestions?

Its rare that phones get stolen from geeks like us but I just have it just in case one of my buddies pull a trick or something. Its good to have just in case. However, misplacing it happens quite often for me at least. So I created a profile to listen for "ringplease" and it turns on the screen and unlocks it, then turns media volume all the way up and plays a song of my choice (No Worries by Lil Wayne) lol
Very very simple, but effective for me at least

That's a good idea, I typically leave my phone on silent (don't want it ringing loudly while at work). When the phone is between the couch cushions, I can't just ring it and listen for it. If I have a text code I can send, I can have it turn the volume all the way up and blast "call me maybe" (as a joke, of course). I just can't give that code to my friends, or else they'll send me that code when I'm in a meeting at work, haha.

I feel that Tasker is a bit under rated. People just don't realltly take the time to learn how to use it. Its so powerful!!
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
I think a lot more people would use tasker if the xml files were made more centralized and available for the general user. I myself was struggling, but have it doing a few nifty things.
1) turn on wifi when near my local (home) cell tower.
2) disable wifi when no connection established for 20 seconds
3) enable screen rotate in certain apps (since I like mine in portrait normally).
4) enable bluetooth when docked in the car and disable after disconnecting
5) turn off all sound when sitting on my qi charger
6) allow calls from certain people even in silent mode (ie emergency calls from family)
7) play unique ringtone for people not in my contact list
Haha, I just use Where's My Droid, it has the built-in ringing functionality where you can text it a codeword if you misplace it / lose it, and its also great for when you ACTUALLY lose it lol
