i am trying to install the htc mail.apk. i am currently running shadowrom. i tried doing an adb push. it said it copied to \system\app but when i go in there with astro the .apk is nowhere to be found. Is it possible to run this with shadowrom? the reason i am trying to use this one instead of the email.apk one that came with the rom is because my cheap ass companies server is not compatible with the email.apk. with the htc mail.apk i was able to enter all the stuff and when it failed to check the settings i was able to just save them and it would work. with the email.apk i am unable to save them it just keeps telling me to edit the details. any help with this would greatly be appreciated. adb seems to be functioning properly to me. i just learned how to use it about two hours ago. but i tell it adb push mail.apk \system\app. it says it copied it but it doesn't show up. Thanks in advance
Are pushing the .apks when you are in recovery?
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App
It was in recovery. I tried with system mounted and without.
try it using root explorer..just drop the file in..restart
or try k9 Mail. I love that program. It seemed very similar to HTC's

i tried using root explorer.... didnt work lol. i did hook up k9 mail and now i am sending work emails across the company from my phone. now i don't have to go into the office everyday. Thanks for all the help. i wish i had known about the k9 mail awhile ago. now i can flash a different rom.
Try ROM Manager
In ROM Manager, go to Download ROM>Ihtfp69>Goodies fro 2.2+>HTC Mail.
Let it install, see if that works.

ShadowROM is an AOSP ROM. I do not believe the HTC mail program will work as there is no Sense in ShadowROM.
There are several kinds of ROMs for the Incredible. HTC Sense based ones. HTC Vanilla ROMs which are ROMs that have most of the extra bloat removed but still have the underslying Sense dependencies (SkyRaider Vanilla is an example). Finally, AOSP ROMs which are Android Open Source Platform ROMs. These are what the phone manufacturers get from Google and embed their interfaces/applications/tweak in to. HTC has Sense. Motorola has Blur. These are all based on AOSP. It is one of the reasons internal storage was broken for a while on ShadowROM and Cyanogen. Why? Because Google doesn't program for every phone and every phone doesn't have it so the AOSP didn't support it. It's a vendor added feature. Likewise a Sense kernel typically does not work with an AOSP ROM as well.

I learn so much here.
I read about an omnirom available for our captivate glides running 4.4.2
Anyone tried running this yet? How stable is it?
I found the link here: http://true-android.blogspot.ca/2014/03/update-samsung-captivate-glide-sgh-i927.html
I also dont know, for any rom that has separate gapps, when would you flash those? After or before the new rom? at the same time? Like, if after a ROM flash it automatically reboots, it will boot up with no gapps and likely not run - correct?
Was just curious about how buggy it is. Even if down the road when things are smoother, im excited to see if i can get this one running!

you can find more information here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2541182
Gapps is included. You must install rom zip first, because it formats system partition.
Official gapps doesnt compatible with our phone, I think its better not installing.
hmm..

I am using omni ROM . . somehow I find it less buggy than cm 11
Nevertheless I would wanna give my thanks and even though I am pointing out bugs . . I really do appreciate his work .. A lot
Omnirom is very very stable has all if not most of the theming features except for trebuchet launcher
//It is a bit more battery consuming but I like it cause I am able to run my processor at 1.4ghz which is sweeeet!!!
//It has issues with OK Google functionality the audio is lagged and irritating
//The Google experience launcher is not built for it
//It has issues with Google maps 7 but there is a fix to have 6th version to back you up when needed
//it has issues with Skype and the fix is work in progress I guess..
//GPs is a bit slow but works
//WiFi direct crashes for me
Once in a blue moon the phone might rebot itself cause of a crash..
Though considering WiFi tethering , 3g switching, link2sd ,memory swapping
Ksm everything is working really try it . . its an amazing experience from an amazing phone
Can someone tell me the difference between wifi direct, wifi sharing, and wifi sharing manager??
Wifi itself is working in 4.4.2 right?
Also, were your keyboard backlights working automatically or did you ened qwerty led?
is qwerty led something that needs to be running all the time. or "ongoing" in the top drawer?
Wi-fi direct is a type of communication between two devices, similar to Bluetooth, so you can send files. I never used this, even when transfering big files from one phone to another, it's better to use an USB OTG cable - the connection speed is lightning fast!
Don't know what you mean about wi-fi sharing. Maybe wi-fi tethering (hotspot) - it's when you share your phone 2G/3G internet connection via wi-fi. This thing is working fine. Wi-fi itself is working, of course.
As for keyboard light: when tested OmniROM, I used liblight solution, but the qwertyled using is simple too: just launch it and you're done. While the service is running, keyboard light will work.
Now I'm on CM 11, and I have 11 days of uptime already, I recommend this ROM (but that's just my taste). In CM 11 keyboard backlights are working from the box, no need for qwertyled.
Also, I looked at the link you posted, to the true-android blog. Please, don't use the guide one can found there, it's awful. You can't install 4.4.2 ROM with recommended 2.6.3.0 TWRP, the correct one is 2.6.3.1 from bubor here, and you don't need any gapps beside included in the ROM.
Better use this guide from stormdude124: [UPDATED][2014][How-to]Everything you need to know and do to your Captivate Glide, it's updated, it's verified and there's no ads!

Can you use a cyanogen mod rom with clockworkmod recovery installed? i remember trying cyanogenmod with my phone and couldnt get it to work.
Just flash TWRP 2.6.3.1 from link above, it's superior to clockworkmod recovery (CWM) in all ways: touch interface, working backups with compression, charging support and it allows to install KitKat roms. With CWM you can install ROMs up to android 4.3, so, you still can install CM 10.1.3 or CM 10.2 with CWM, but not CM 11.

Hey yeah the difference btw wifi direct and sharing is that in wifi direct you connect two devices directly to transfer files...
in wifi sharing you need to host a web adress to share your files
as a result in wifi sharing you host a list of your stuff on a web adress(local) which gets downloaded by other devices on your wifi connection
and a wifi sharing manager can either do this (host ur files using an ip) or my personal favorite is astro which can acess my pc's sharing folder over wifi which is preety awesome>..unlimited storage
also note that in a wifi sharing manager you cannot recieve files easily . . maybe airdroid but it can only run on a pc
wifi sharing apps are airdroid and other file managers like root browser
wifi direct requires specific drivers and libs... i guess.. hence not all devices can do it ..
anyway you should go for cm 11 or omni both are incredibly stable with an occasional hiccup.. which is occasional heh
also would suggest that if you do proceed to install please follow from the developer sources on xda rather than some blog etc
Hi everyone, first time poster, please be gentle...
I have recently brought a chinese smartphone, mainly as a bit of a folly to see what they are like. I have brought the Star C1000 also known as the Sesonn C1000, Kingelon C1000, HDC White Walker, Vifocal C1000, Lenteen C1000, Goophone M3 and many other names. It is 5.5 inch with fingerprint scanner.
I want to flash the rom and put either a fresh android 4.4 on there or another trusted mod e.g. cyangenmod but i'm having some trouble as I can't seem to find the necessary ROM for this phone in order to do this. Add to this non of the apps that automate some or all of this i.e. Rom Manager won't recognise the device in order to provide rom's and back up facility and when I tried the automated cyangenmod auto installation, again would recognise the phone and continue with the installation...
So could anyone give me some guidance and advice on this,
P.s. Phone is already rooted as its loaded with their custom rom which says the version is android 5.5, so unless this phone is from the future...
Thanks
Matt
Hello,
First, i dont think that there is any CM Rom for your device.
Second, check every other device with the same Hardware as your device, for one with 4.4 Android.
If you find something, a little Modifikation of the update binary should do the job
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Free mobile app
Thanks for your reply, that sounds a little too technical for me I think,
Now the reason I want to do this is because it has come with its own rom installed claiming its android 5.5 and that its a sony m880 when it obviously isnt....does anybody know anything about this...
Heve you found any ROM for the C1000?
It seems the files in the zip from Jide for x98 Plus are in reality for Cube i10, since the folder inside the zip has Cube i10 as name.
Does anybody have already flashed that rom ?
How to Flash the ROM? I tried. Unsuccessfully. Cant find any hints how to Flash it.
There are a couple of videos in youtube about installing but an official installation guide would be really appreciated, since it is a supported device.
Plus info would be useful about what is needed before anyone start flashing, eg. external keyborad, usb hub?
I hope jide team keeps up good work and support X98 Plus with later releases too!
You need the Intel Flash Tools :
https://01.org/android-ia/downloads/intel-platform-flash-tool-lite
Select from the Tool the flash.json file from the Rom, set option to 'update' and flash.
But it will not work out of the box. You first need to flash mirek custom rom and after that, in place of record the device to google server as usually with new devices, flash directly with remix OS and Flash Tools.
I had an issue after that and had to flash again boot.img and recovery.img separatly with the help of a script .bat... Maybe a bug, i don't know. But i have been the only one from techtablet forum to have this issue.
The rom is amazingly smooth, very beautyfull and it solved the lagging issue i had with the custom rom and the hacker keyboard. Unfortunately, dolphin browser doesn't work on it. [Not bad since i'm a firefox user for privacy reason].
Unfortunately, there is no way to root from adb, since the rom is locked.
In the next weeks [when i'm done with school], i will root the system image with superSU before flashing it back in the device.
Hope this work.

Oh well, is there any way to flash Remix OS from Windows 10?
I have the Windows only version, and having Remix OS without upgrading to factory stock or any custom android would be nice.
Worked Fine, Thank You w1nst0n sm1th
Is it possible to Flash it to the whole 64 GB? I tried to replace the Original gpt.bin from Remix OS with the gpt.bin from Mirek ROM (1_GB_system_56.5_GB_data_gpt). Without success. Any Ideas?
Not sure about you guys but mine 98x plus A5C8 do have the wake problem after the display turn off something.

Hi, yes but it's not working so fine for now, in my case, some apps don't work, the camera is not supported and sometimes i've got micro freeze (when i'm installing a app ont google play). I'm new on this OS, I don't know how to install on the micro sd apps.
I think, it needs optimizations.
Despite this issues, it's offering a good user experience ( i'm not sure i'lll stay on remix OS, it will depends on future improvments)
Hi. Does anybody have working 3G on Remix OS2.0? My tablet is A6C9, tried to install couple of times, can't find settings for 3G, only Wi-Fi.

There is no Remix 2.0 for x98 plus 3g version. Only for x98 3g and only Remix 1.0.
But the remix 2.0 for plus version seems to have phone ability, according the packages in /system/app & /system/priv-app folder. I disactivated it with MyAndroidTools Apk.
Does it work on a Teclast X98 Plus II ID C2E3?
2gb +32GB model
Thanks

What is the snapchat isdue?
I'm using an old cm11 4.4.4 build that has been rock solid, I was also getting random reboots on just about everything. I had to install an old chrome browser apk, and an older voxer. Some apps won't work with the kitkat roms, but I don't care, this rom rocks and hasn't had a single bug.

the front camera looks compressed or something
You can do nothing about it. It's a known problem with CM/Lineage on all phones degrading camera quality.
Which ROM would you recommend for daily use? That is not Slim6 because that is what I currently have and has several errors.

That's what i said in the first reply, most of these roms are based on lineage and they have the same camera problem which lineage degrade. If you want the camera quality back you have to go back to stock 4.4.2.

There is a ROM that worked perfectly, the camera was fine, it is very fluid and above it is super attractive to the eye and very customizable, that ROM is MiUi 7. But there is a problem, that when it comes to start it takes a lot to do it . And it is not that bootloop because the ROM if it starts, only if I turn off the phone for any reason to turn it takes 5 to 10 minutes.
Do you have any idea of this?

For me the problem is the kernel because I installed another kernel and the problem was solved but when turning it on you could use the ROM but it had some graphic faults like that the screen was blinking, the icons were glitched, it worked fine even though it was difficult to use , but the ROM started well. Then I'm looking for AOSP kernels for android 4.4 to see which gives solution to the problem

I realize this is an earlier post, but thought I'd comment anyway! I'm not sure how many of us are out there, tinkering around with the 8+ year old Samsung Galaxy S3 i747 . While I am a newbie, I have enjoyed flashing Custom ROM's , from CyanogenMod, thru various versions of Lineage, and now CrDroid. The newest O/S that I flashed is CrDroid ( based on Android 8 ). Runs great. Stable. Long battery life.
I have always used ODIN to INSTALL a 'recovery' system such as TWRP ( which is a .Tar file )
After TWRP is installed ( using ODIN ) I unplug phone from my computer. Then boot into TWRP recovery ( holding down the three buttons ). I do a clean install (flash) of the newest O/S that I can find ( Android 4.4 is really old ). It is that .Zip file that I flash, then reboot the phone. Always works for me. Eventually I learned how to back up all my contacts, SMS, logs, photos, etc.
BTW I am totally free of Google; no Google Play Store, no Google Pay, no Google Framework, no Gapps, no Google spyware, no Google bloatware, no Google tracking etc.
I download all my apps as APK's which are readily available on the Net ( Google them . . . just kidding! ).
My older Samsung S3 i747 was a 'd2att' originally locked to Rogers, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Then switched over to MTS (Manitoba Telephone System). Now running on Bell Canada. My replacement is also a Samsung S3 i747, originally running T-Mobile in Arizona, now running on Bell Canada.
These are damn fine phones.

What ROM are you running on your S3 now? I flashed lineage 14.1 on to mine but it wont accept incoming calls. I really just need a ROM that will work for calls but I'm having trouble finding any to download, the links are either dead or all I can find is for the i9300 variant.

I am running CrDroid. Best ROM I've had yet. Ran LIneage 14.1 and it was good, but little problems such as: phone not ringing, camera problem.
I always go the extra mile & clean flash. Lately I've made the effort to back things up! Saves a lot of headache. Wish I would've learned that earlier.

Thanks but I don't see a ROM for the S3 i747 variant on CrDroid's site. Only one for the S3 Neo and I see references elsewhere to CrDroid on the i9300 which I think is the European model? But not seeing one for the d2att/d2lte version we have in Canada.
I did install Meeko on it last night which at least does accept incoming calls so that's an improvement over Lineage already.
Are you referring to the CrDroid website https://crdroid.net/ ?
There are versions for Android 8 (Oreo) & newer.
I'm pretty sure that Lineage 14.1 is Android 7 (Nougat)
Have a look at the XDA site of alexenferman : https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-att/rom-crdroid-3-8-9-custom-rom-7-1-2-t4021787
See the part which reads:
Releases
Latest Version: V.3 2020-01-02 FINAL
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1DW...T4ZNZieMwIUbAX
Then I downloaded the file: crDroidAndroid-7.1.2-20200102-d2att-v3.8.9.zip
While it says "d2att" I installed it on my Samsung Galaxy S3 (Rogers version) anyway. Works great.
I also installed on my Samsung Galaxy S3 (Tmobile version) T999. Also works great.
I did not install any Gapps

This is an unofficial build, on the CrDroid website, they only put the official ones, approved by them. To make official builds, you must constantly update it and have the latest version. I clearly don't have all the resources and knowledge. Anyone can compile a ROM for their device.
So if it says "Unofficial", it's not part of the Custom ROM website
And yes, you can use this build with the Canadian i747m/d2can
