High Pitched Screeching Noise When Listening to Music - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

I've had my Galaxy S3 since September of 2012. I've been using a custom ROM with the deviant kernel for about 3 months now. Never had the issue until today. Whether the earphones are plugged in or not, when I play music, this random high pitched piercing screeching noise happens and it hurts the hell out of my ears. It's like one of those noises on a speaker when something funny happens and this loud annoying noise hurts everyone's ears. Anyone any suggestions? Is this most likely only solvable through sending my phone to a repair shop?
Thanks

Try a different rom, make a nand and test a different rom

Ear speaker volume?

Is it just my phone or is the ear speaker volume really low? I have it all the way up and can barely hear. On my other phone, its loud and clear.

I'm thinking mine is damaged. I found a replacement speaker. Anyone know how to replace it?

How to: REPLACE INCREDIBLE BLOWN SPEAKER
That's for the regular speaker though right? I'm talking about the ear speaker.

Whoops, sorry about that! In that case, I'm not sure about a link.
I can say though that on my phone, the ear speaker is plenty loud if I'm in controlled conditions (i.e. indoors, or a calm day). If I'm in nasty conditions (like outside on a very windy day), then the volume leaves something to be desired, but frankly I've never owned a phone where that wasn't the case.
Best of luck!
I noticed that the Stock setup the earpiece was very low, but practically every ROM I've tried it's much louder (especially the CM's).
Not sure of an easy way to fix your problem without flashing a new ROM though :/
There's an audio boost kernel Ucan try

Popping Noise

Hi I'm having popping noises with my Galaxy Nexus whenever something with sounds is used. I understand it's a hardware issue, but if I buy a replacement speaker piece for the phone (http://www.parts4repair.com/samsung-galaxy-nexus-earpiece-speaker/), will it help fix the popping noise? (Disabling touch sounds and stuff fixed it, but it still occurs when I do other things with sounds)
I just got this phone "like new" from amazon. Love it so far (came from Nitro HD) but the sound pop slightly irritates me.
Thanks in advance
edit: might be this actually http://www.parts4repair.com/samsung-galaxy-nexus-i9250-ringer-buzzer-loud-speaker/
I have a slight pop sound also.

What you are hearing (to some degree) is completely normal. You are hearing the audio chip powering down after a sound has played. This is to conserve battery life. Almost all mobile phones employ a similar technique.
It's so loud though Maybe I'm just not used to it yet. thanks for the input
So to be clear, replacing the speaker won't remedy the loudness of the pop, right? I don't wanna waste money ahah

Speaker sounds slightly distorted at Max Volume

I need feedback. The sound on my Note 2 sounds kinda jumbled up at max volume. The sound is pretty loud, but I sometimes can't appreciate the clarity. I can feel the thump, but not the clarity of every note in a particular song. Is this how the speaker was made, or is something up with my speaker. Lets say I play "Party Rock Anthem," I can hardly feel the beat, it sounds almost flat. Please let me know. Thank you.
What music player app are you using ?
You can try changing the equalizer settings and see if it helps.

I'm using the stock Samsung player. I get the same results when using other players as well. Are all speakers the same model on every Note 2 sold? My Note is from the 1st batch, dating back to October.
It's possible whatever you're listening to has lower quality audio bit rate. Try downloading a high bit rate (320kbps) (yeah I know that it's still compressed) and listen to that. My songs are fine unless they're something like 192kbps

Well it is just a phone with a small 1 inch speaker. I would never expect a telephone to have subwoofers inside.
Might be pretty cool WITH subwoofers inside though. ..lol jl audio

Well, this is going to sound odd, after about a couple of hours of continuous playback, the audio is sounding better. Never knew these speakers require quite a bit of burn-in besides the AMOLED display.

[Q] Static noise during CPU load

My Nexus 7 produces static noise near the top of the device (in portrait) when the CPU is loaded (in game). It's easily noticeable when the speakers are muted. Exit the game and the noise immediately goes away. I don't think it's speaker noise because on the bottom side of the device I can barely hear it, probably just the same noise traveling thru the device from top to bottom. And it doesn't seem to be buzz from the screen backlight because it wouldn't depend on CPU load.
Anyone else has that?
Is this normal buzzing from the components? or could it be that I have a faulty capacitor or something in there that might end up failing?
I don't want to risk an exchange before determining if this is not common/normal since the only problem that I have otherwise is a mushy volume up button, which I can live with since it's still mostly functional.
Happens on all the games you tried? Strange.

It happens on any high CPU load. Even YouTube and opening a heavy app like AccuWeather triggers it.
It sounds like electric static noise not speaker static noise if that makes any sense. Like a bad PSU.

Well if you think it is a real issue you should RMA. That sucks. Hopefully you will get a better one.
Mine is on a truck right now. I hope it is good. Starting to have my doubt's after reading the sound issues.

It is the game, the volume control on this device is cheap and emits a static noise. The reason why you don't hear it out of the second speaker is because most games don't have support for stereo sound.

It seems to have quieted down. Couple of days ago I noticed it when I was in bed with the device at normal distance from my head. Now, same situation, I have to put my ear against the top part to even hear it.
I doubt it's speaker related because I just tried 3Dmark which has no sound + I had the sound muted and still heard the same screeching noise when I put my ear against it. And it sounds different than the static noise that everyone else is reporting at lower volume levels.
Maybe a few heat cycles were needed to put the components into optimal operating state. I'd say now the noise is almost normal for a consumer grade electronics.

[Q] Does your N7 distort sound a little?

Hi,
I received my N7 today and I've noticed that if I turn the volume all the way up it seems to sound a bit distorted from one of the speakers. It's not really a problem because it sounds loud enough without turning it all the way up, but it's kind of a shame not being able to set it as loud as it's supposed to.
Are you getting this problem too?
You might have a blown speaker, if it distorts more as you turn it up louder. Would you be able to provide a video? If it is blown, it is something that our warranty does cover so you'd be able to send it in for service.

I too get a rattling sound on certain sounds/tones on high volume, so it might be the way it is. There's also the hissing on low volumes..

Yeah I think everyone gets hissing on low volumes....sucks
