So I realize that Samsung decided to remove this feature from the 4.2.2 update, but I was wondering if anybody has figured out how to turn this back on or if I have to use a third party app for this?

I'm interested in this as well.
I assume 3rd party apps require root?
Yeah, the 3rd party app I was looking at is called switch me and requires root.

Multi user profile usually makes your tablet with Android 4.2 (nexus 7 or Asus tf300 ) lag a lot. .. it is supposedly made better with 4.3 (nexus 7 2013)
Could be due to 1 gb ram or poor I/0 writing speeds on the asus nexus and tf300
The new nexus 7 has 2gb ram..like the note 8
Probably with 4.3 update. . We will get it on note 8

The size of the N7 makes it idea for taking notes - I can hold the device in one hand and write with the other in a way that's not possible with a 10" sreen. Amusingly the best app I've found for this is Asus SuperNote, but the menu buttons that normally appear on the bottom of a 10" screen don't appear on a 7". Bumping build.prop's ro.sf.lcd_density from 213 to 170 (root req) fixes it, but a system wide change like that for compatibility of one app is a less-than-ideal-solution imo.
Anyone have any ideas for another possible fix?
Just wait on paranoidandroid. You can set DPI for individual apps

I just tried this on Jr5, with the tablet ui mod and I had the nav buttons. It looked great, thanks for that.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
I sideloaded supernote on my N7 and noticed the navigation buttons were missing (I'm not rooted and thus running standard DPI).
My work around when in scribble mode I toggle to the keyboard to use backspace, enter key, or insert a space.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
Yes, and you can also do a large horizontal swipe from right to left for backspace / delete I think.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Good point. I forgot about that capability.

Ugh, I would pay Asus for a version that scales right. Here's hoping this comes bundled with a 7 inch tablet soon.

They have now.... thanks. Hmm, Freenote is a fraction of the size too and seems to have more options / is more configurable. Gonna check it out.

Just want to tell you all, that there is an app called "Handwrite Free"! I like it better than freenote, better interface and options.

There's another thread on note taking. I used to like Freenote the best, but in this other thread, someone pointed out Handy Note. It's not free, but well worth the one dollar. Finally something I can actually use, organize, share and backup. Check it out. I tried Supernote as well. Was not good enough for me.

As was suggested early on, I think the idea of having configurable support for screen density of each app (or however you'd describe it) is the solution to this problem and others like it. For now I've suck with stock and the build.prop edit, but I'll probably be on a custom rom with this functionality before long.
Also, I've tried all of the alternate app suggestions in this thread as well as most in the other. There's a wide variety of apps to pick from - some with a little less functionality, some with way way too much more for my liking (and at 30+ megs installed, they'd better do more!).
As mentioned by a few people FreeNote is the best replacement for SuperNote in general design, but with more configurability and features, plus a smaller installed size to boot. However, all the apps I've tried do one curious little annoying thing "wrong" that SuperNote get's right... they misplace descenders (g j p q y) fully above the baseline.
is there now a way to run Supernote perfectly on the nexus 7? If so how would you go about doing that
Has anyone found a way to make it scale with ParanoidAndroid? I have tried 160dpi and different layouts, but never got it quite right :S
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
If you continue to have issues with SuperNote, consider checking out Handy Note Pro. I found it to be more usable. Plus, there's more than a few user reviews on Google Play that said that they lost all of their work when the app borked.
I just watched a video on youtube about asus memo pad 7, in it they were using supernote lite and the memo pad 7 is a 7" tablet so it should be perfect for a n7.
Someone is bound to get a hold of that apk so I will be on the look out for that!

Me too, but can any of these apps save to Dropbox or custom folder on sd?

You can create an Asus acc and backup there
When I check running apps , sum of available and used memory is 694 MB.
On my nexus 7 its 974 mb . I thought nexus 7 and gnex both had 1 GB ram so why do I see less ram I gnex ?
I am running stock 4.2.1 with stock kernel on both the devices.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
That's normal and it's the same on every phone. Your firmware and OS and preloaded apps takes that ammount of ram. So you won't see 1GB of free ram. The nexus 7 is a tablet and doesn't have cell antenna. These services are running all the time on phones
The missing ram is used for the graphics adapter.
Thanks for the explanation!
Is there a way to keep launcher always in memory ? Many times when I return from chrome or gplus, my launcher gets refreshed. Its pretty annoying as you can't do anything till your launcher refreshes. Currently I am using stock launcher but faced similar issue with Holo launcher as well.

Nova launcher has an option to keep it in memory. It looks like that it is increasing (lowering value) the oom priority from 6 to 2. AFAIK that's connected to android's memory management which gives app an chance to act in low memory situations.
If you're rooted, you could use a script to do the same (to what every app you want).

I used similar option in holo launcher but that didn't work. Will try nova and see if its works any better.

Multi view is a good feature. But I don't see a need for it on a phone. It's a nice thing to have on a tablet. Especially N10 as it has a very high resolution display. IIRC CM wanted to add this kind of feature in CM10 but they were advised against by Google.
Pop up play can be had by installing alternative video players like MX Player.
Pop up browser feature is also supported by some browser in Play Store. Forgot the name you can check it out

I would Love the gallery from the note to be ported...

idk this phones screen is kinda small for multiview to be of any use really. just try paranoid android in tablet mode with split screen apps and youll see what im talking about
I've also got multi view on my s2 and it looks fine and is so handy

Does this exist in stock android I keep hearing about it but none of my games between my nexus 4 and 7 are in sync.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
As far as I know you need root to sync your game progress...and even then its not automatic, you have to do it manually with an app called data sync. I've downloaded the app but haven't used it yet as I just got the tablet yesterday and I'm still in the process of setting everything up.
So, to answer your question, no that feature is not available in stock android yet. Some places said that the new play games app from google would allow this, but it doesn't at the moment.

If I am not wrong, this only works with games supporting Google play service, e.g. Stickman Golf 2, Temple Run 2 etc.

I've done some reading and found launchers, suggestions and apps. Wondering if anyone has a setup they can share? My little cousin is 7 and I got her a nexus 7

I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for but I share my device with my kids (4 and 7). I've set up an user account for them and I've locked it down with "kid' s place ". They can only reach the apps that I allow and can't mess with any settings. You can also use the timer function to limit their usage of the device. Exciting "kid's place" needs (if you choose this option) a code too...
The reason why I use different user accounts is to allow them to have their own user data in shared apps
I hope this is useful to you...

If you update the tablet to Android 4.3 you could use a restricted profile
Hope that helps
One thing I just thought of is, you could use desktop visualizer and make big icons on the home screen for the apps that they would be using so they dont need to go into the app drawer and open up unnecessary apps (Or I suppose you can just take off a shortcut to the app drawer from the home screen with a custom launcher).
A setup I used when I handed down my old tab to my son (3yo) is smart app lock from thinkyeah and apex launcher with icon size set up for bigger icons - kidoz TV for kid friendly vids and use adaway to - well that's obvious.
I use zoodles

4.3s new restricted profiles would work well for this. I haven't tried it myself though.

A Gumdrop Case would be another good addition for a child.
1.First restrict play store for keeping adult material out of kids reach
2.put on low level puzzles game like cut the rope, where is my water etc
3.search for some drawing apps
4.I don't think launcher will have an impact but if u need some attractive icons u can try apex, nova launcher
