I am using my galaxy nexus around 8monthd without any issue. I am based on India my mobile was bought from ebay.in. and it don't have any other company logo in it like Vodafone,AT&T. I am using it with my idea SIM around 8 Month. Last week i planned to finally root my phone. I was planned this long before but i was bit concerned about the wiping of my data, Any way last week i planned to root and i used the tool Nexus Root Tool Kit Developed by WugFresh as per this forum. My mobile is successfully rooted.
After that i gain access to super user, busy box etc. But after rooted i got my network down!!!...
I did lot of method told in this forum but none work.
I did following:
1. unrooted flashed to full factory stock no use
2. Flashed with a factory rom no use
3. Flashed radio to different one
Finding:
from a thread on this phone i come to know about app call getRIL and i installed it and checked my RIL. I show different RIL on different android versions.
Now i am using 4.2.2 factory stock from google and i am with radio i9250XXLH1 which is a recommenced one from GetRIL app.
After i flashed the 4.2.2 my radio was i9250XXLJ1 it was not working so i moved to i9250XXLH1 any way bath not working....
can any one help me to retrieve my network? or this just all gone? all other are working fine with rooted i can use wifi.
I i even tried with custom ROM called MIUI it was working but no network there too,...

Hello, even i am facing the same issue. My Vodafone sim has suddenly stopped working in my gnex here in Mumbai, but other sim cards apart from Vodafone are working fine.
About the imei even my imei had changed to a generic one. I used an app called fu*kdocomo to restore my imei and somehow its successfully restored.
But still my phone cant get Vodafone network. But you can give it a try.
And kindly update this thread if you find a solution to this. Good luck

Hi i was tied this application before but i didn't got any network yet..

Well, from the day one i bought my nexus i had the " unknown baseband " in the About screen of my GSM unlocked NEXUS ! ... I dunno how but i left my phone with sim card inserted for some hours and suddenly i noticed that i have a signal and i checked to see the baseband is identified as xxkk6. Now i downloaded the Factory image from google and i flashed it using the Nexus Toolbox and now i dont have any baseband again.
Tried to flash the baseband only again with no luck, It only shows in the fastboot mode but when the phone is in android mode or ( normal mod ) it shows as unknown!
Tried to flash the UGLA4 baseband and the problem persists!
What should i do now ???
Try to flash back to google stock rom via Galaxy Nexus Toolkit from mskip :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392310
Download google stock image here :
http://code.google.com/android/nexus/images.html
Then, using GNex Toolkit again to root, unlock bootloader, etc and flash any baseband from this thread below to test :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1405345
i already did that and still not working!
I tried flashing the stock rom over and over , ulnocked , rooted and flashed the baseband file alone and nothing works!
i tried to flash ugla4 and xxkk6 basebands but both didn't work and i only can see them in the fastboot mode info
If you can't seem to get it to work, try returning it to the vendor.
As last resort you can try with ODIN it might work...

I can't return it as i bought it with no warranty from an online store in my country ...
Ok, how can i use odin to restore it ! i mean i need a pit file and the other files right? where can i get them from ?
another thing, do i find the files if i extracted the factory image
thank you!
Install cwm and flash the baseband from there. Should work. Search cwm touch in the forum.

That doesn't mean it has no warranty contact your country Samsung warranty service and explain the situation it must have warranty!
I tried flashing it with CWM and nothing seems to work !
Am i the only one who has this problem ? is it hardware related or what because as i said it was working before and i was able to make and receive calls and data ..
It wasn't workning when i first turned on the phone when i bought it but i was playing around with the setting and apps and i remember having an OTA update from 4.0.1 to 4.0.2 and after 2 or 3 hours it started to work ! just like that !
btw i flashed the old 4.0.1 (ITL41F) factory image and i updated OTA now to 4.0.2 ICL53F but still unknown baseband
are you using a custom rom on the phone?
if you are...you may have installed a rom for the LTE/CDMA phone and not for your GSM phone..
that is why my baseband said UNKNOWN......I had a LTE and I install a GSM rom by mistake...
try installing a custom GSM rom

here there is a similar thread...somene talk about a corrupted efs partition (try to search something about it), someone just flashed a new radio and solved it
did you also tried to power off the phone and pull the battery for a while? it is a sort of software reset..may work sometimes..
Sounds like your EFS may be corrupted.
There is an app for the I9100 that can repair corrupted EFS's, and it can be done via adb as well, but I'm not sure about the applicability towards the GNex.
Just for reference, I am in no way suggesting you do this, but perhaps someone else can chime in: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17587351&postcount=1

I may have jumped the gun a bit, with the i9100 an unknown baseband typically meant a corrupted efs. Do you still have signal and an imei #?

Ok i just checked my imei by *#06# and it shows nothing too !!! no numbers at all !! does it mean the it is efs corrupted partition ???

Likely, but again I haven't messed around with the EFS on the GNex yet. Hopefully someone with more knowledge can chime in and get you sorted out.

Btw i didn't back up anything and i don't know how to fix the EFS thing but i know how to use odin and adb a little bit
i have this issue suddenly with the radio of 4.0.2 and fixed it by flashing 4.0.1 radio.
never mind .. i got another Gnex and everything is fine now !!! u can't fix it but in samsung service centers
Rooted my gn on the night I bought it and flashed cm. Someone said in XDA that in order to restore imei, I had to backup a file before I flash the phone (I didn't do that )?
Does it mean I lost my warranty? :banghead: pls help.

Assuming you have a generic imei (0049 something) due to a permanent sim-unlock to an originally locked phone?
If that's the case, run the apk here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1548210 and you should get your imei back
The theory behind this is explained here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1606982#

I am facing the same problem on my Google Nexus GT-I9250M. Bought the phone in US through playstore and back in India now. After the OTA update to Jelly Bean 4.1.2 IMEI number is blank. Did you find a solution to this? any guidance would be helpful
My Radio stopped functioning earlier in the day IN THE MIDDLE of a phone call. I have not been able to get it to find a network provider since that time. My details are as follows:
Phone: MAGURO
ROM: Rasbeanjeally 4.1.2
Kernel: Trinity Stable 67
Provider: T-Mobile
Baseband: UGLH1
RIL: UGLH1
Location: Hawaii
I tried putting my Indonesian Telkomsel SIM into the phone to verify the problem was not a physical issue with the SIM and the phone could still not find a network. My Nokia phone works just fine with either SIM. I tried flashing another baseband to see if it had something to do with that but this did not help. I did update Busybox last night from the Play Store but i dont think that could have done anything as the phone was working this morning for a while? The Wifi is still working. Someone suggested that I reconfigure the APN which I did but that did not solve the problem.
After I reboot and go to About/Status, i see the following:
NETWORK: Unknown
MOBILE NETWORK: Unknown
SERVICE STATE: Out OF Service
MOBILE NETWORK STATE: Disconnected
Does anybody have any idea if there is some code i can run to talk to the radio to see if it is alive? Or does anyone have any other ideas what i can do to fix the situation?

The radio is gone. I just flashed the stock image after trying many other things and it is just not working no matter what I do. The phone recognizes different SIM chips but cannot get service no matter what I do. I have locked the phone and will send back to Samsung for repair.
Thanks all and especially to SIMMS22 for helping.

Hi Xda members.
i am an xda fan because i can get solutions to any problem in xda.i will visit xda forum and site dialy for updating my self.
Recently 15 days back i was stuck with a problem with my Samsung Galaxy SGH-i747. Actually this is an AT&T network. my friend send me that phone from US to india. i have unlocked it and using that phone since 10 months there is no issue.
Recently i have done a stupid thing, in CMW recovery mode unfortunately i have clicked on unmount efs thats it my firmware and IMEI were lost. i have tried number of roms still no use.i have given my phone to an expert and he injected IMEI and firmware back now, my phone is back with full functionaly except 3G network. it was stuck in EDGE even installaing stock rom. i have searched XDA for this problem and read so many threads and worked on them but still there is no use.I think the network frequencies are not working properly in my phone. Please any one help me. please please.
Some one suggested that if there is any same phone SGH-i747 then read efs folder and make a backup of it and restoring the same to my phone will make my phone work properly. will it work?
Phone Details
Samsung Galaxy SGH-i747
Stock OS : Android 4.1.1

Hi everyone,
6 days ago, I left my previous carrier (Bouygues Telecom) for a new one (SFR).
As I'm not used to buy my phones from a carrier, I did not think of simlockage... but I should have !
Because, last monday, when I installed my new SIM, I found out that the phone was locked.
I cannot join my previous carrier (access requires an eligible phone number, which I no longer have since I left them) and my new carrier cannot help me.
So, today, I tried to downgrade to an official 4.1.1, for trying the unlock via dial caller *#197328640# code method. But this failed. I installed GalaxSimlock app, and I found out that my IMEI wasn't the same: yesterday evening, it was like 354666... and now, it has become 004999...
I tried to restore my efs with TWRP recovery, but the IMEI remains the same... but I'm sure that IMEI was "good" when I backed it up (10 days ago). As long as I don't have any more solution, I would like to know those of you who faced the problem and, the solutions the found to fix the issue.
Thanx in advance.
If your imei is based on new rom, won't work old rom. At least you need newer baseband. Look my signature for multitool, that have option to update modem. (mg1)

Right now, I'm downloading the MutiTool_AromaV11 - Basic version.
I'll edit when further info.
Thank you very much ! That restored my IMEI !!!

My IMEI has changed too after a NAND restore. I had an efs backup to restore, but this made no difference. Now I can't register on any network.
I need help as well.
I used DrKetan's tool (which is excellent) but my phone now says I have no SIM card. I can't get the card out to clean it, etc, (It's a cut-down to mini-SIM original SIM card, usin a cutting tool from Amazon)
Now I've used the advanced multitool version. My IMEI is now restored and all is well in the world.
Steven
Good! Can we use multitool to r flash MG1 modem while on an old ROM? I wanna test this ROM with my original IMEI.

Yeah it's only way to restore imei on old rom. You can flash mg1 on old rom too and purpose to add it on multitool is only this.

Since this thread is about the same thing and since the OP has resolved his issue Ill mini-hijack it .. thanks
I have somehow killed my phone signal today while trying new roms.
I did a TWRP backup first of course including EFS.
At some point I could no longer get signal so I tried to restore my nandroid. The EFS fails to restore in TWRP.
I tried your tool to restore modem and while it completes it fails to restore my signal.
I wonder if you might have some other idea for me.
Thanks.

thankyou,
started with hellybean http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2134990 then tried a couple of TW roms and finally this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2119003
Now back to the hellybean nandroid which works fine apart from the efs restore which fails.
I completely wiped inbetween the TW and CM roms. I thought it was a good idea but I guess maybe not.
There is hardly anything in /efs just the imei folder which is empty and nv_data.bin and its .md5 as well as nv.log.
...
The twrp backup has the efs.ext4.win file at 5mb.
(i posted in the twrp thread too by the way, I hope thats ok)
