What's up guys... I rooted my s4 using the CWM method and used "
SetUIDRestrictRemovedKernel" to apply SU. Now my PC doesn't see my phone at all. I was going back totally stock for a warranty, Odin didn't even register it. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks in advance!

Are you using the cable that comes with the phone? I assume you're using a/the stock ROM; if not, what ROM are you using.
Yeah, it's always worked.

I'm wondering if maybe I can just flash another Rom/kernel and see if that works. It just scares me cuz if the computers don't see it, I'm screwed, can't even Odin back to stock.

Although I'm not on stock, I noticed yesterday when trying to upload a few pretty large files that my phone wasn't being recognized either. I plugged it in and unplugged it a few times and it just "magically" decided it wanted to be detected the last time.

Hi everyone
Is there a way to hard brick my S2?
For testing purpose. Would appreciate
Feel free to PM just as well if the topic is not good here
update: forgot to mention, I can't use any USB type of flashing. My USB is not working for some reasons. So anything from recovery or type in shell should do. thanks again
Well, had to do a double take to make sure I was reading this thread correctly :what: Easiest way is to flash a ROM not intended for our phone. If you read all the "Help, I bricked my phone " threads, they usually flashed one for the I9100 or SG3. Now, you don't plan to use this info for malicious reasons, right? :sly:

gottijr, sure hope your "testing" is that you're coming up with some way to help us un-hard-brick a GS2 without a USB port...

Honestly it sounds like something shady to me.
Either flash an att Rom or flash any pit file.

a specific nexus? the google nexus one?
right now it's a little bit messed up
what ever i flash back from S2 tmobile, is not working anymore
But phone still turns on, and boots, and get the top menu and turn off menu and reset
I need to make sure at this point I brick it right, can't end up getting stuck with it, with no USB
What do you mean stuck with it? Tried the international s2 yet?

Flash an .pit file, that will brick it for sure, you can also flash a recovery not intended for the T989, that will not boot up for sure.

I'm trying to unroot my device back to stock since I'm pretty pleased with Touchwiz and want the next 4.1.2 update. I used triangle away to reset the flash counter and then used Odin to install a stock 4.1.1 firmware. However, when I look at device status it still says modified. Can I still get the OTA updates with this and is there any way to fix this and have it say normal?
What count does it say? Does it say count as "no"?

If you still have SuperSU installed in the settings there's and option to do full unroot, that's how unrooted my last gs3 before I returned it. Anyone more experienced please feel free to correct me, as obviously I am still a noob.

It sure is my phone, I don't have a need for it to be anything but stock at the moment so that's how I want it to be.
I have also tried doing the process over again but using the 4.0.4 firmware. Still nothing.
EDIT: Flashed 4.1.1 over 4.0.4 did the trick. Not sure why.

Interesting. It's worth a shot OP. Worst case, it fails and you uninstall. If it is successful, you can install mobile odin, then get the latest gb27 tar, and money. While you're at it, you will have to flash a cwm custom jb kernel, since you're on ics, and, MO won't flash modems, you'll need a jb modem to use data on gb27. Download the zip though of the modem . Good luck, let us know how it goes.

Who is your carrier? I'm pretty sure 4.1.2 is out for everyone now. Perhaps you could factory reset and then the phone would see the update (and rewrite the borked files)

I don't really have any answers, but have a few questions that might get others to chime in... I am assuming you're pics were on the internal memory? If being rooted will help, one idea I have would be to Odin a "no data" rooted one-click. I don't want you to try it until someone confirms it won't touch the area where you want to recover the pics.
