[Q] MMS video - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

Trying to send video created in stock messaging app and it's distorted. Trying to send by clicking on limit for mms and it's still distorted. Thought it was the rom I was using but it happens on stock too. I'm using T mobile version S4. Anyone else have this issue?

Video taken for MMS is usually the lowest quality.

You'd have better luck just uploading it to youtube (or cloud service) and sharing the link via sms or sns.

Over Compressed MMS

Does anyone else notice when sending MMS the pics are of the worst quality? Im using FC14.
MMS pictures have always been compressed to lessen the file size.

If you want something near stock Calks E4GT 2 v1.2 which is FC18 might be to your liking. He has adjusted the MMS compression among other things. Only word of warning is the rom uses the Rogue Repack Kernel so you might have an app or two that will require a sd card dismount to install. The only one I have is Team Viewer.
If your on stock FC14 might give FC22 a spin see if they adjusted it at all.
Yes. Use handcent or another third party messaging app it does a better job at it. I touched on this subject a while back. Whenever I would send a screencap people wouldn't be able to read it bcuz the writing would be blurred. Samsung did a horrible job on the mms compressing in this phone. Never had this issue on the galaxy s epic. Handcent was a life saver for me my pictures are of higher quality now!!

Only issue with the suggested apps is that they do not allow you to select email addresses from your contacts list.
For example, if I go to create a new message, and I open my contacts list in either GoSMS or Handecent, it shows me all my contacts and their phone numbers, but it does not show their email addresses. If I wanted to send the message to their email, then I'm stuck using the default messaging app. Granted its a small price to pay in the end (its free), but optimal settings would be to completed remove using the default app and using one of those free apps instead.

If ur emailing the pic why not just use the built in email app or google email. You can share pictures that way too and there's no compression.

Blurry MMS on AT&T Jellytime beta13

I send blurry MMS messages on the stock messaging app. I have sent some clear ones with handcent but it's inconsistent. When I say blurry it's really more low res. I don't see an option to change anything related in the messaging app. Does anybody share this problem? Or know of a possible solution?
The pictures are hard to read once sent. In the send preview window they look okay.

Can't send GIF's via text message?

I have sent GIF files with the stock messaging app before.. All of the sudden when I send one it only sends as a picture. IE not animated. WTF. Anyone got any ideas why I can't send gif's anymore.
Thanks.
Are your sure it is a sending problem on your end and not a receiving issue on their end? Maybe you are sending it animated but the person getting it can have animated gifs in their messaging app

I've sent it to three different people. And even sent it to myself. Still only sends as a jpg.
I figured out I can use hangouts to send gif files tho so that will work for now. But I really don't like hangouts I would rather use the stock LG messaging app.
I know hangouts has the ability. I have personally never tried the stock app to do it. What has changed since you could do it to now? What have you installed or modified.

Stock MMS vs Hangouts MMS

I was using the stock messaging app because I like it a lot and and I started to see that pictures looked like crap when sent to others even after changing the mms to 1000k. I then started using hangouts and saw that pictures are set more high quality, why is this happening on stock? This first image was sent via hangouts and the second image was using stock messaging app, you can see a big difference in quality

you have the option to set mms to 1000k!? my stock app only goes to 300k! haha wtf
Yeah I'm on att but still when you attach the photo it's like 80kb which lowers the quality a lot

I'd prefer to use hangouts but I send and receive a lot of pictures for work and am often on wifi. On hangouts I have to disable wifi to download the mms. On stock, I don't

Yup. Send fails over wifi. You'll receive a text saying you have an sms, but it won't successfully download until you go off wifi.
Mms is sent through the cell network so it makes sense, but the stock app works which makes me think it temporarily disables wifi in those situations. Why can't hangouts do the same?
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
Yeah my stock app compresses too. I only got 100-300k options. Bummer too cuz I like it more than other messaging apps. If there's a fix to this I'd like to know.

MMS Issues when sending

I use hangouts for just about everything and I recently noticed an annoying problem. If I send a photo thru a hangout it works as it should, with no loss of quality. If I send it via MMS however, the quality is GREATLY reduced. I also tried this through the stock messaging app and had the same results as in hangouts, MMS sent is greatly reduced. Any thoughts or help?
