By default, 64 Gig card is formatted in exFAT which is not currently supported. I had the same issue earlier.
Connect your card via Card reader to a computer and format it as FAT32. It should work. Search for "fat32format.exe". This should easily format the 64G card without any issues.
can someone please let me know if the samsung galaxy 3 micro sd card can be formatted to something other than fat32 and if so what are the formats that are available and other question is if its dependent on the rom currently flashed to the device? thank u sorry if this has been answered before
I believe android requires fat32, but you can repartition the card to have an ext4 partition along with the normal fat32 partition. I've only seen that used for apps2sd use though.
I have a 64GB card in my phone that is formatted exFAT. It works fine except that it can not be seen be recovery. I also had to download an update for my old win xp machine to read the card.

I have tried to use a samsung 64GB micro sd card in my galaxy s4, but everytime i put music on the sd it says the sd is damaged and needs to be reformatted. I contacted T Mobile and they told me that their version of the galaxy s4 would only take sd cards up to 32GB. I have read some other treads on this site to try and get around this, like the exfat thing of fat32, both of which failed. I have recently rooted my phone, successfully, and i was wondering if anybody could help me get past this 32GB sd card only bs. Now that I have rooted my phone is there any option i can take to successfully have my 64GB sd work in my galaxy s4. If you need more information please let me know. I would like to solve this problem as quickly as possible. Thank you in advance to anyone willing to try and help me.
Find a kernel that's exFAT compatible our reformat to FAT32. The factory firmware s should be compatible iirc.
Tmobile is wrong about only accepting 32GB sd card.

I have tried both ways exFat and Fat32. I have over 32GB on the sd card, but once i put the sd in my phone the phone tells me the the sd is damaged. I am new to all this ROM, Kernel, etc... stuff. Where could I find a kernel that supports exFat or FAT32 and how would I install this on my phone without messing it up?
I think they all support FAT32, stock firmware should support exFAT. You might just have a bad card.

Have you tried a different 64gb card? I have no problem on stock rom using a 64gb card I got on amazon.
Like what he said. I've been on Stock for a month before switching to custom ROMs but within that month I've got no problems using my 64GB card. Try another card, might be your card is damaged in the first place...
I have tried 3 different cards. I get the same message with each card.
Did u try reformatting while the card is in the device? Or thru cwm?

I have tried reformatting while card was in the device. I am not sure how to go about formatting through cwm.
I also have a 64gb sd card. Works great.

That is awesome. I wish I could figure out how to get mine to work. What kind of sd do you use? What was your formatting method?

When I try to format through clockwork I select mounts and storage, format external sd and then i get the message....."formatting external sd and then underneath it says error mounting external sd...skipping format. Any thoughts???
Maybe try reinstalling the Rom? Factory reset?

I honestly think, if you've really tried 3 different sd cards, that you could have a bad MicroSD slot. You might go into T-Mobile and ask them if you can try your card in one of their S4's. If your card works fine in a different phone, then, if your phone is a recent purchase, exchange it, if it's relatively new, get a warranty replacement.
I formatted my 64gb card on my pc using an adapter & have had zero issues. Currently running Infamous v8.0.

Format to Fat32. I recommend creating a Live USB of Ubuntu and doing it through gparted.

Mine works fine
I have a sandisk ultra 64 in mine formatted out of the box for exfat and it works just fine. You should not be having those issues.

What kernel are you using?
Could be a bummed sdcard. I had the same issue with a knockoff. Now I have a 64g exfat with no issues.

I was wondering what format can the note 3 use. Can it use exfat or fat32. I am using a 64gb SD card right now and forgot what it is formatted to but I think it's fat32. Can it use exfat because one of the tormenting apps gave me trouble when I tried to download a 15gb file. I emailed the developer and he said it might be because my SD card is formatted and doesn't allow big files.

The 64gb card should be exFAT
what is the best format for sd cards? i believe if you insertthe card into your phone n fortmat it formats as exfat...does AOSP still not play well with this format? a while ago i flashed an AOSP rom and had to reformat it to fat32 to use it.

I recommend using Fat32, because it plays the nicest with Android across the board. If it won't let you format to Fat32 on the device, use a computer to do so.
