BRICKED! I'm Falling On Def ears.... - HTC Wildfire S

I've bricked my CDMA MetroPCS HTC Wildfire S. I tried to install a ROM in Clockwork Mod recovery 5.0.2.8, and it failed. It was meant for my device but it managed to fail, I took all necessary steps (As far as I know.) Now when I turn on the device, it boots into HBOOT FASTBOOT, I only have access to some HBOOT options and CWM Recovery. I've posted threads for help twice on XDA and once on Phandroid, I havn't even had a single response. Can anyone out there help me?
Thanks,
A distraught idiot.

It Doesn't Sound Like You're Bricked
I've made my share of mistakes with my Wildfire S and mine survived as this phone is hard to brick. You probably are having issues like I had on my marvelc phone with CWM. Take a look at this first:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2395696
If you don't know how to flash the recovery do some research on XDA...I spent hours upon hours researching this website before I ever even touched my phone.
Hope some of this helps.

Look what a google search brought up:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1761799
Copied from one of the posts there:
"You need to have the HTC drivers installed.
Then in cmd type:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Place the img file in the same folder as the adb files, so you won't have to specify a path.
Good luck."

[q] help required htx one on orange (uk)

Hi all.
I have just received my HTC ONE X on ORANGE UK. I had it unlocked and works well with other networks.
Problem I have is:
1. How can I get rid of the ORANGE UK branding?
2. Revert the software to the ORIGINAL HTC ONE X Software?
I looked thru the Q&A and didn't really find the answer i was looking for. I am a newbie as i have always had the iPhone 4S.
I presume this involves changing the ROM? How?
A Step by step guide would be brilliant.
Thanks Kindly
I believe that you will need to unlock your Bootloader at HTCDev (which will void all warranty) and follow this thread. This will allow you to install any One X ROM you want.

Unlocking the bootloader, rooting, installing a custom recovery and flashing a custom (or official unbranded) ROM will get you where you need to be...
However, if you have never rooted a phone before this one isn't the best to start on. I would recommend waiting until some of the bugs have been ironed out, like charging in fastboot, the posibility of a one click root, or a fully s-offed process.
If you can be patient, (and the bloat isn't too bad - for Orange anyway) I would recommend waiting.
I had a rooted, s-off desire on Orange, have unlocked and s-offed a bunch of various HTC phones belonging to friends, but even I'm delaying for a while to see how development pans out.
I hate sense too.
@shrubz
Hi thanks. Well I got thru the Bootloader ok. Now I am on step 9 of the recovery. I am not sure which ROM to select in step 4?

have you installed a custom recovery? if so move the downloaded ROM onto you one x, reboot into recovery, choose "install zip from sdcard". Then "choose zip" and point it at the zip of the rom you downloaded.

If you follow the link I posted in the 2nd post that will give you all the steps you need to prepare to flash a custom ROM, including the custom recovery image.
After that pick a ROM, I recommend ARHD, then follow the instructions in the ROM thread to flash the ROM.

Have you saved the recovery image in the fastboot folder on your computer with your fastboot files?
Try

[Q] Custom Recovery not working on Wildfire S

Hi there,
I've managed to unlock the bootloader and root my HTC Wildfire S.
Then I flashed CWM Recovery (tried several versions) with fastboot and also with ROM Manager.
The installation of CWM Recovery is successfull, however when I go into the bootmenu and select Recovery, the screen stays black and the icons at the buttom of the phone are lit up.
So the problem is I can't get into Recovery to make a backup and to flash a different ROM.
Some information about my phone:
HTC Wildfire S A510e
Android 2.3.5
ROM version: 2.13.401.3
From the bootmenu:
*** UNLOCKED ***
MARVEL PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT: 1.09.0099
MICROP-0451
RADIO: 7.54.39.28M
I know others have this same issue, but I haven't read any solution yet. I hope someone knows the solution or a workaround to make a backup of the stock ROM and flash a custom ROM.
Thanx in advance!
I have same problem looking for solution to backup nand just in case.
Try reflashing recovery or install one like alquez's unofficial.

Just want to say that I have exatly the same problem mentioned above. Same ROM, riadio and hboot as well. I tried lot of methods to flush custom recovery but nothing helped. Also tried both 5.0.2.6 and 5.0.2.8 CWM
Same problem: Downgrade HBOOT?
Hey,
Have the same problem aswell.. I tried alot see topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1635718
The one thing i didn't try is to downgrade my hboot. I didn't want to do this because it will aswell downgrade android from 2.3.5 to 2.3.3...
And this is exactly the thing which i wanted to avoid before being able to backup stock rom....
Maby you could try it. There is also away to download stock rom and instal it in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1467844
The thing there is only that i don't know if its posible to install a rom without being able to get into the recovery.
Good luck.
Question?

[Q] Desire Z - stuck in HTC boot logo, no Recovery, no system - please help

Hi there, I am in troubles. I was running ICS Andromadus beta4 for more than month. Than suddenly my Desire Z frozen during the GSM call. I had to remove battery. After that no more boot and system just stuck in HTC green logo screen. Phone is S-OFF. So I am able to:
enter Eng Hboot
flash via Fastboot
I am unable to:
enter recovery
boot system
use adb
flash correctly PC10IMG.zip from fastboot or SDcard
I have tried some Guides to return to stock or flash some CM7 PC10IMG.zip but with no luck. All attempts ends with flashing of the system partition. On hboot flash screen appears:
[4] SYSTEM: Failed-UZ
Any ideas? Please, help me get my phone back alive.
well first attempt this
fastboot -w
now
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
(of course replace recovery.img with appropriate file name)
see if you get any errors or if you are now able to get into recovery.
but it does sound like a fried emmc

have you tried adb devices until it shows up then doing
adb reboot recovery
I can't use adb, because system or recovery boot fails.
Your best bet is flashing arecovery from bootloader. Until somebody figures why its failing have you tried booting into recovery without the SD card in the phone.

Yes, I have flashed clockwork recovery from hboot and than removed sd card. But no luck.
Unless you dropped your phone in water recently, its highly likely that your phone has a fried emmc chip. Try to contact htc. As a last result try to flash an ruu to return the phone to stock. Look through the boards to find the instructions.

Let me clarify. Im familiar with the emmc issues depending on the chip you have.
I brought up the water because I had a situation in which I dropped the phone in water and after drying it off in rice the phone wouldn't go past bootloader and wouldn't let me flash a recovery. I bathed the phone's motherboard in 99% alcohol and then let it air dry. Phone booted up perfectly.

Go to htcdev and unlock your bootloader,
Then flash clockworkmod recovery via fastboot using the command " fastboot flash recovery recovery.img " assuming the recovery you down loaded is called recovery. Change accordingly.
Then boot into recovery from bootloader and make a back up. Then your all set

Hey, I have been hoping to do something with my Wildfire also but the instructions seem to be so complex and as said most of the links are dead etc so i end up in a dead end most of the time. What I would like to do is just to make my wildfire a bit less laggy, while keeping all my contacts, messages, apps, etc.
Here are my specs:
Android Version:
2.2.1
Baseband Version:
13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10
Kernel Version:
2.6.32.21-g0f9e9b5 [email protected]#1
Software Number:
2.22.405.1
Browser Version:
Webkit 3.1
THE PHONE IS STOCK
WITH NO MODIFICATIONS
So my questions.
1.Can I just overclock the processor. How would i go about doing just that.
2.Would it be better if I installed this Cyanogenmod also?
ht tp://download.cyanogenmod.org/?type=stable&device=buzz
Could i still save all my personal things on the phone? How would i do that exactly?
You seem to know how to do these things, but what you said in you post is gibberish to me. So could you provide some clear instructions for me? Links to files I need to download etc.
Thanks in advance!

HTC Desire - update recovery

Hello!
Some time ago, in 2011 or so, I followed a tutorial and managed to root my HTC Desire Bravo A8181. In fact, I just rooted it and somehow it's still S-ON.
Now the thing is that I want to flash a new recovery ( 5.x.x.x) instead of my 2.5.x.x . I can't find the exact tutorial for this because my phone is not unrooted.
If someone could help me and point me through the exact steps in doing this operation, I'd be grateful. Thank you!

Rooting and S-ON / S-OFF are separate. Rooting is just to do with root access, I assume you used unrevoked for this. S-OFF is fully unlocking the bootloader, and is much more powerful overall.
To flash a different recovery you need to be S-OFF first. Search and user 'revolutionary' for this
Instructions to actually flash the recovery are in that thread linked above.
Whilst it's useful to change to a recent recovery, the main benefit of S-OFF is actually to change hboot so you can increase the Desire's actual internal memory.
Thank you!
So, if I switch to TWRP do I need to S-OFF? I saw I could flash it just like a ROM, from the actual Recovery.
When I try to S-OFF with revolutionary, it seems it won't get past 'Waiting for device...' even though I installed USB Drivers.
Of course I am sure that USB Debugging was enabled.

Were you in fastboot when running revolutionary? If your bootloader is unlocked then u need to flash it via fastboot but if it is s off I think you can do from recovery or the PB99IMG.zip method.
