[Q] Cyanogen cLock widget sizing problem - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hi all,
I installed CM10 this morning and it appears that the clock widget is not sizing properly. That is, the weather only shows fully (eg. including location) when the widget occupies 3 rows (and there is a ton of blank space left that doesn't show anything). I have not activated the calendar events features so nothing should be showing. Can I reset the size somehow?
I've already rebooted and deleted the widget from that homescreen, etc (all the easy/common fixes).
Thanks in advance guys.

Hey man,
That's normal. Made sure on my device and my friends. We are both running different ROMs and its the same. If you want a full screen widget that displays weather, time and notifications I'd suggest dash clock widget. Its free in the play store.

HTC Clock Widget Problem

So for some reason the weather of my current location is messed up and wont load. It's stuck at a high of 55º and low of 0º and the weather doesnt load on the widget. If i choose a city the weather works fine, just not with the current location. Anyone know what could be causing this or have a fix?

Try going to settings, applications, and then look for the htc weather and try clearing cache or data. I hope that help

Yep I just bought 2 new Evos and had them less then a week and we both today were talking about the weather portion of the widget not working correctly.
was happening earlier today for me as well, but all is normal now
Delete the widget and just reinstall it and that should fix it. I believe they updated it along with accuweather.
If you notice now that when you click the weather to go the detailed weather page at the bottom where it says weather if you click that it will now take you to the accuweather webpage and you can view more detailed info. I believe it used to be this way got broken and now they fixed it. I like it. And if you watch it were it says weather with time below it now switches back and forth from the time to "More details online" .

Mine doesn't. The only time I noticed it doing that is when I had multiple locations. The non home locations did it, but not the home.

[Q] Time differnece in digital clock widget

Hi all,
I am new to SE and new to android ,the problem what i face is in desktop i have digital clock widget and it shows different time from the time set in settings and what displayed in top right corner , also when phone is locked when a key press is made i am able to see correct time.
i have unchecked automatic option in date & time settings.
how to solve this problem ?
Time in settings and top corner: 9:21
Time in digital clock widget : 3:51
Thanks in advance
that happened to me but it fixed it self so no idea
maybe you used a taskkiller and killed the app responsable for the widgets updates?
i didnt use task killer..any fix?
You haven't got it set to display a different time-zone do you?
sorry for late reply ....switched off and on fixed the problem
Hi,
I faced the same problem over the last few days... the clock just sometimes seems out of sync with the system clock. Pretty annoying.
Removing and re-adding the widget helps, but that's just a useless fuss.
I'm trying the reboot and see if it sticks now.
Regards,
cherryfish
Edit: just to make it clear, I'm using the digital clock widget that's on the Homescreen by default.
only get that problem with BobClockD3, no problem with another clock widget.
It also happened to me. I just reset the time and all will have same tume.

Sence 2.1 Question

After upgrade I seem to have lost the clock and alarm functionality of the home screen clock widget. It opens weather when I press the lower portion of the widget but nothing happens when the upper portion of the widget is pressed. It use to open the alarm and timer functions. But nothing now. Is there a way to restart this service. Please help.
Thanks.

I have the same issue and posted about 3 minutes before you ;-)
I just tested the alarm functionality on my phone and it works fine. I also tested the widget and the top portion opens the clock app and the bottom portion opens the weather widget. I also removed the widget and re-added it. A couple of questions.
1) Did you do the OTA update and was your phone a stock non-rooted phone or is your ROM rooted?
2) If you are rooted, have you tried doing a full format (format & erase, wipe dalvik, manually wipe system/boot/data, etc) and then reloading the ROM?
3) If you are on a stock ROM, have you tried doing a factor reset and see if it was just a bad install of the OTA update. It can happen. Software isn't perfect.

Or you might even want to try removing the widget and putting it back again. I know sometimes it can act funny especially if you installed a ROM and did not re setup your home screen from scratch.
Stock OTA. No root. Tried restarting widget. Still no alarm, timer, etc...

Same here. Stock phone upgraded OTA. Widget no longer links to clock app. In fact, the clock app is no longer listed in app screen. Thought that new App Market downloaded from BGR may have been to blame but after uninstalling update the widget still does not call the clock app.

I may be on to something here regarding the broken Clock/Alarm app...
Go to Setting > Applications > Manage Applications > All and scroll down to the "Clock" app. On my DINC2 w/GB, the Clock app is grayed out whereas the other apps are all listed in bright bold white. I checked the entire list and ONLY "Clock" and "CityID" are grayed out like this. There must be a connection, no?

Good eye! I also have this issue and have Clock app greyed out. On the other hand my CityID isn't greyed out and does indeed work. So I believe there has to be a correlation.
After my OTA the clock alarm worked great!
I then installed Beautiful widgets and then gentle alarm and now i can't load alarm when i click the time, i have to load it from a different widget. weird.

More info:
This is what my DINC2 reports for the Clock app:
version 1.00.000.081006.605
Storage 0.00B (for all three Total, Application, Data)
Cache 0.00B
Launch by default- no defaults set
Another user on another forum whose clock app still functions reports that his cache is also zero, but his storage is different for all three, total being 596KB (app 420KB, Data 176KB).
It looks like the clock app just isn't there for some reason.
just clock the numbers on the weather app on the homescreen. brings u to alarm.
I bit the bullet and did a hard reset. Ugh. Still rebuilding but the clock app is working again.
How to do hard reset. I know stupid question. Just don't want to screw anything up.
Sent from my ADR6350 using XDA Premium App
I did the hard reset and spent the better part of the day reconfiguring my phone. The clock app did indeed work again. Until I did a battery pull. UGH. Now the clock app is gone again!
I called HTC and they said they are aware of the issue and patch will be forthcoming.
To those thinking about doing a hard reset, you may want to wait since the first battery pull you do will break the clock again.
MY sis' phone started doing this crap after the update...I thought she was just being dense....now I feel bad for doubting her. What idiots let a key function of cellphone like the bloody alarm clock get screwed up? I mean that's something most every single person uses almost daily...and none of their people caught this? It's also making her doubt having gone to an android phone...as she never had a problem like this with the old dumb phones...her last one got ran over by a tractor and still worked minus the broken interior screen. But all key functions still performed flawlessly(again minus the screen) lol.
Think I figured the clock problem out. Had widget locker installed, got tired of it and uninstalled it. Clock function is now back.

Glad yours works. No Widget Locker here and no clock app either.
Mysteriously enough, yesterday the Clock app reappeared in the app drawer and the clock widget started functioning again on my DINC2!
I had updated and installed a few apps yesterday which may have triggered a fix perhaps?
Updated the CNN app
Added GateGuru
Added Priority Pass
Don't know if this is now resolved permanently, something tells me it will only be temporary, but thought I would report this.

[Q] Alarm question on ICS

Hello all....
Those of you familiar with Beautiful Widgets will understand my question...
Previously with Gingerbread roms on my SGS, there was an actual Alarm Clock app that you can hit and it would go straight into the alarm clock.
With Beautiful widgets, you can map the "Time Tap" to open up the Alarm clock, which to me was a great feature.
Now, with ICS on this thing, I can't find a way to go into the Alarm clock directly anymore... I have to go into the Clock app, then hit 'Set Alarm' Not a big deal, but kind of redundant and annoying.
Oddly enough, if you use the stock 'Analog Clock' Widget on your home screen, it does exactly what I want when you tap it.. it goes straight to alarms.
Am I missing something? Can I not get into alarms automatically with one tap somehow the way the Analog widget can?
In beautiful widget settings, go under advanced and select there which app should be opened when you tap the time part of the widget.

Just checked and noticed the same thing, Clock is an option, but nothing for Alarm Clock.
When I tap the clock from the widget I get sent straight to alarm clock.

I think he was referring to the stock clock widget. That is what I use to get into the alarm directly. I didn't see you mention that anywhere. Be kind, anyone who replies is only trying to help you with your question.

As for mentioning it, it clearly states that in my original post that the stock widget performs this function.

Hello Greeced,
Can you please clarify your question? I think it got a bit confusing down the line.
The stock "Analog Clock" widget takes you to the alarm menu when tapping on it.
That is the only widget ICS stock offers for the clock.
The Beautiful Widgets clock widgets also have that functionality. A tap on the clock part takes you to the alarm menu.
Are you looking for a way to get into the alarm settings without a clock widget?

Beautiful Widgets only has the functionality to select which program you want to open when you click on the time or date in the settings... but no longer has the option to select inside the "Choose Application" area to select Alarm Clocks... You can select Clock, but it only takes you to the desktop clock, a further tap below the time at that point will take you into the alarms.
So in essence, what you can do with the Analog Clock widget you can no longer do with Beautiful Widgets. (1 tap vs 2 to get into alarms.)
I hope thats clear.
Thanks for the clarification, but Beautiful Widgets behaves differently for me.
It behaves exactly like the stock analog widget. When I tap on the clock part it takes me straight to the alarms, not just to the desktop clock which would require another tap to get to the alarms.
I have nothing selected under super clock settings/clock settings/advanced/Time Application.

HTC's Weather Unavailable

The weather/clock widget on my lockscreen says "Weather Unavailable" ! I found it, that if I turn of my location settings, the weather will show up again, but I do not want it to stay on all the time, so what I did is I went to the weather options and added manually my city, hoping that it will no longer be necessary to leave location service on all the time, but NO, that didn't happen, it still says "Weather Unavailable" !
What am I missing ? With any other weather app I seam to be able to add the city manually and not to worry bout the location setting to be on constantly, so is there a way to do the same with HTC's weather widget ?
Thanks

I have no problem finding my city, it is immediately detected by the app, also I am getting the weather info inside the weather app itself, but on the lockscreen widget it just shows "WEATHER UNAVAILABLE"
At first I though that I probably "hibernated" something from Greenify, responsible for updating the weather info, but no! there is nothing that is remotely related to weather widget

Yes I can confirm, it works on ether of those settings ( high accuracy or battery saving). But the location setting is just to determine the location, that's it. After that a mobile data or wifi is required to get the weather info for that area (previously determined by the location service), but I have already added the location manually in to the weather app, but yet it still requires to have the location service On, constantly
