Is there some secret to the Volume UP + Volume DOWN + Power hard key combo? I've pressed it hundreds of times with different timings and can't get into the bootloader. Tips?
Also, the power key takes sooooo long to turn this thing on. At first I thought it was doa. Thought that was interesting...

There really isn't any secret method. Just make sure the unit is powered off then hold the power button and vol down button until you see the Android robot and you can through the options using the vol up and down keys.

Hey lads,
this is probably a very dumb Q, but since I am new to all this android schmuzzle and couldn't find ballocks on that, don't judge me too hard ;]
I've noticed that when u press both VolUp and VolDown ( put pressure kinda in the middle or the rocker ) the phone vibrates once and then after several seconds (seems to vary) it vibrates three times fast. Now what the flick is that? Not that much of a big deal but it gets annoying given that even when the screen is off and the phone is locked doesn't seem to give a damn
thanks
has happened to me too but hard to reproduce. I have no ideas why it happens. Sometimes it occurs when the phone is booting up for me as well.
Put ur finger in the middle of the rocker and press ( not even hard ). It happens every time in my case. even when the phone is locked
I get the same behaviour, sure is strange.
Kinda old thread but I didn't want to start a new one either. I've noticed this too by accident. When you turn off your screen and press both volume buttons at the same time it vibrates once and every other time twice or thrice. If it vibrates only once it will vibrate again a couple of times after about 10 seconds. Has someone found a reason to this already?

Maybe HTC thought "Why not? Let's do this and see how they discuss about it." ^^

These buttons are part of combimation of three finger salute (at least look like that)...if you press voulme up + Down and power button, phone will reboot....so might be vibration is just an indicator to show go ahead and press the power button for restart.......Just a Guess
Pressing Volume Up + Down simultaneously while having USB Debugging turned on creates a bug report in the bugreports folder on your SD card.

This is correct, there's always a new bugreport after I press the volume buttons. I don't think that it's even necessary to have usb debugging on.
Thanks for the quick answers, but could there be something more to it?

Nope, can't get it to reboot. Perhaps this is rom related?

It shouldn't be, but its really hard to get it if you are trying to press three button, you can try power button and middle vol button......any ways I also tried lot of times before I got my first reboot....
1) Pressing both VOL UP & VOL DOWN at the same time = Vibrations & all processes' states and stacktraces dumped to /data/arn/traces.txt (thanks to alind_)
2) Pressing both VOL UP & VOL DOWN at the same time + POWER BUTTON once = instant reboot
Works for me with CM7 and Stock Sense.
My phone reboots and stays at the Samsung log. How can I get it into recovery? I hold volume buttons and then power release, and its still on the logo.

Wrong Section but,
Hold volume up+the main button on the bottom(the home key) and then press the power button until it vibrates, then just release power.

Just recently my power button stopped working. I pushed the button to use my phone and it did nothing. For about five minutes pressing the power button did nothing. I had to press and hold up and power button to restart. Is working fine now but What I would like to know is why did this happen? How can I prevent something like this occurring?

I've noticed mine has done the same thing a couple of times since I've gotten it. In my case I think the phone hot boots, maybe you have the same case

Same issue but no case and it wasn't hot. I think it might be software related. Waiting a few minutes and holding the button for 30 seconds finally allowed it to boot.

I've experienced this just once with the same result. Power button + volume up resolved it.
I had same issue pre-root and vol up and power fixed the issue. No power button issue since.

hold the power button at the same time as holding volume up button.... hold both for a few seconds might take as long as 8 seconds
will put you in fastboot mode....(if it doesnt go into fastboot that way can hold power button until screen turns off then quickly hold volume up until fastboot comes on)
once in fastboot tap volume down twice (slowly allow a slight pause between presses) then pres the powere button and you will be in recovery

I can't even get my phone to the fastboot screen. Ive held down vol up and power. Vol down and power. All 3. I'm really at a loss. Any ideas before I just get a replacement? Also, my headphone jack has seemed to stop working along with my power button.

ok thanks it worked
I bought the LG e980 from a guy on Craigslist. He worked for ATT and won some sort of sales contest and had the phone shipped to him from the factory. It has worked great for the year I have owned it; I love the phone. I would like to have updated Android, but I use the phone on T-mobile, so no updates for me. I tried to root, but am having no luck. Keeps saying something about "production build". The software version is e98010p. I rooted my table 2-3 years ago, and can't remember too much about the process. Any help would be great!!!

Recovery Mode
I can't seem to get it to book into recovery mode. I have tried volume up + power, both volume keys + power, home + power, quick button + power....and I get nothing. The only thing I get is with volume down + power, which is "factory wipe, push power to confirm, or any other button to cancel".

Take battery out. Wait 5 secs. Putt battery back in. Hold down volume up button. Keep holding down volume up button while you also hold down power button. Wait to see flashing led indicators at bottom and LG logo. Let go of power button while still holding down volume up button.
Didn't work
Well, I tried it several times and it didn't work for me. Any other suggestions?
