Turn on the phone, remove finger from power button, and continuously tap the volume up button. If you have CWM then it should boot.

Hi,
I want to install the next rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1448552
through recovery mode.
But how do i come in the recovery mode on my SE Arc S?
--
I had already tried with ROM Manager but then nothing happens, only the phone is rebooted, and does not start in recovery mode.
--
Thanks!
Install the x-parts app and through the app install recovery.
To boot into recovery, turn on your phone and in the Sony Ericsson splash screen (not the boot animation, the first screen) and when the LED indicator turns blue, press volume down, then you'll be in recovery.
Next time you post a question use the Q&A forums.

installing cwm recovery using cwm autoinstaller apk but my phone does not reboot into recovery.i have tried pressing every key volume rockers, back key, mrnu key but nothings happen.pls help.
Propably you'll need to have kernel with recovery inside so you'll have to unlock bootloader.

Factory reset shouldn't do any harm. It's just going to delete all your data on phone and restore default settings. Anyway, if you would eventually have some problem, you will be able to fix it with Flashtool.

You want to install cm10.1? You must use custom kernel with it... They have cwm version built in... You don't have to install cwm...

I flashed the CWM successfully on my locked Xperia S, but when i press volume + button, green LED blinks for a moment and boots normally instead of going into CWM. Any clues, why this is happening? I'm on .45 firmware.

I even tried x parts to boot into recovery but it boots back to normal...This means that the recovery isn't working, but why? It did show that i successfully flashed.

There's only one version, and it doesn't give me a choice. What do you mean by v1 and v2? Can you direct me to the link?
EDIT: I followed a guide from a random website and flashed CWM. Seems like it's V2 and it's working. Thanks

If you are on unlocked bootloader, you can use twrp recovery (have touchscreen recovery)
If you are on locked bootloader, it could be hard. You can make backup with app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.h3r3t1c.onnandbup but restoring will be problem. Have you tried power button or X on gamepad is working as home button?

You can use the kernel from Android Original Dev Section, But before that, you need to Backup your TA Partition and then Unlock the bootloader if you wish to have a custom kernel and/or a recovery..
