I was playing Fast and furious on my Nexus 7 and the graphics look very good, much better than real racing 3.
On Real Racing 3, it almost looks like the game is not running in HD and low resolution. There are alot of jagged edges all over the car.
I downloaded the app RR3 Graphics form the market, which is supposed to let you forge Extra High graphics, but it doesnt seem to make a difference.
Anyone else notice it seems to be running low resolution?

It looks terrible, and EA claims it's one of their 19 games "optimized for the new N7 display". The RR3 GFX app doesn't allow you to manipulate the resolution or anti-aliasing, which seems to be the problem.
Every device on Android I've used so far Nexus 4, Nexus 7, GS4, and HTC ONE. All have the same problem the graphics look awful. You would think they would have updated it by now. Real Racing 3 is one of the games i've played the most, so im upset about it!
On my iphone 5 and ipad 3 it looks amazing!!!
I was comparing Modern Combat 4 on all my devices and the colors look super washed out!!! Again no issues on iOS devices....
I find it stupid that they can't give the game on android the same treatment as they do on ios.

I think the common demonitor is the qualcomm chip. All my devices that use QC RR3 looks terrible. On my S4, (octactore version), the GPU is similar to the one used in the Iphone 5 and RR3 looks great.

Try out Fast and Furious on the nexus 7. Thats what RR3 should look like. Very smooth edges, no jaggies.
Then go back and play RR3, it will look like crap by comparison.

I'm not sure if you are trolling, but you just have to take a look at the mirrors, sky and ground (you can also look at the hands of the pilot, the inside of the car and the wheel). As the comment above me said, it's a fact that games on Ipad's (any ipad, ipad mini runs rr3 at maxium graphics and has 0 lagg...) perform way better than android. That's because android is a virtual machine over java platform. I owned a nexus 10 and rr3 lagged sometimes too. I don't own an ipad or any apple products (well, just an ipod), and I really prefer android over ios, so don't start a "fight" about that, but I have to admit that ios performance is way better than adroid, talking about games.

REALLY!!?? Yea, I'm trolling, I signed up here years ago just in case there was ever a 7 " Google tablet AND a thread about a game that I had predicted would come out. *rolls eyes* I think you should look up "trolling" on the Urban Dictionary. Putting aside that absurd comment you made, just look at that screen shot in the post I quoted. You can't honestly tell me that it doesn't look horrible. I'm not arguing whether RR3 looks better on Android or not, because I wouldn't waste my money on an ipad or iPhone. RR3 may look amazing on an ipad, I honestly have no idea, and not claiming that I do. Just saying the screen shot I quoted looks horrible, and much MUCH worse than RR3 looks on my N7 FHD...

I havent tried out this game or done this with any game yet, but has anyone attempted to force AA in developer settings like you can in 4.2.x? That might solve your problems for now, granted i dont think RR3 is using WebGL 3.0 but I have the setting on my GNex for WebGL 2.0

It really was a nice comparison of the nexus and it's biggest competition! And even though the note is clocked at 1.4ghz, the nexus was performing fantastically well! I know they are running different versions of android, but you can't forget that the nexus is also powering a 720p display and from those tests, it looks like our "outdated GPU" outperformed the Mali-400 (easily classed as the best GPU out there!)
And also, I'm glad to know the nexus is has an equally loud speaker, some people just search for flaws that aren't there!
the speaker test doesn't seem right, between this phone and my others the nexus is very quite

I haven't adjusted anything... you can hear, if anything the Nexus is slightly louder than the Note. I don't think it would be as loud as the SGSII though...
Am also wondering the same, my speaker is load enough without any mods.
Nice video BTW.
I have both and the Nexus is faster and the battery life better, too

Doesn't the Note have an HD screen as well?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
Yeah, the Note has a 1280 x 800 screen compared to the 1280 x 720 screen on the Nexus. The PPI on the Nexus is a little higher though because the screen is smaller.
Man I have to buy either one and I can't decide. Stood in the store today and had both in my hand. I'm loving the larger screen on the Note, but the Nexus is a little bit more portable. So really at this point I want a definitive answer which one has the best specs. Is the Exynous better than the A9? Is the SXV better than the Mali? And which has the best battery life?
Haha I really wish that Samsung would speed up their ICS development, I realy can't wait to buy either one. I'm quite sure I'll be happy with either one though.

Both the TI OMAP4460 and Exynos are A9 chips afaik. The OMAP4460 processor outranks the Exynos in terms of raw CPU power, have a read here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1378551
SGX540 in the Galaxy Nexus is easily better than other GPUs out there, of course it ranks under the Mali400. BUT the Mali is overpowered and you will never that much GPU power now or in the near future. The SGX540 is NOT the same found in previous devices, it's clocked at a higher speed and runs even the most graphically intensive games beautifully (I'm thinking Shadow Gun).
The Note as a fat ass battery, a fat ass screen, and a fat overclocked processor. All will eat away at the battery like a mother p). But I feel pretty confident in saying that you will easily get a day with the Nexus. I get 18-24 hours DAILY on the Nexus and I am a HEAVY texter (girlfriend ).
Last but not least, IT'S A FRIKKEN NEXUS!! Best dev support and updates straight from Google, DUH

Exynos is better, faster but a battery sucker! omap saves more battery but the huge Galaxy Note battery make its battery life looks the same as the nexus ... anyway both devices battery usage will be the same ( average use )
the gpu? i think Mali-400 is better than SGX540 ( used on Galaxy S )
bottom line if you want a pure google experience and the faster software upgrades buy the nexus, if you like bigger screen and samsung TW buy the Note

The opening question.
Also the Galaxy s3 is great in that it is easily unlockable, rootable, has great support and battery life. What's the modern tablet equivalent of it? What should I look at in a good tablet coming from the xda community?
I own a nexus 7 tablet, although it is an awesome device, I find it a little small and not worth having since I have my s3. The nexus 10 is a better option in my opinion.
The nexus 10 will have a better internet experience because of the bigger screen, and generally all apps will be nicer on it (if they support tablets).
So, at the end of the day, before you purchase a tablet, make sure you need it, and make sure you get a proper size!

As above poster said, bigger size is better. I have touchpad and I use it a lot for Netflix and videos. Playing few games is also better on a bigger screen. I like gmail app on tablet more then on the phone.....
7inch tablet is kinda waste of money if you have 4.8" phone...
You can more easily murder someone (in self-defense) with a tablet...

For gaming I think the Nexus 7 is a perfect fit. I have a 4.8", 7", and 10.1" tab and playing a game like a FPS is far easier on the 7" imo. The only games I found to play better on a 10" is Fifa or Madden.
Videos are better on a 10.1, easier viewing and though web browsing has more real estate on 10, I found that I'm ok on all 3 screens.
My wife has the Nexus 7 and loves it. She reads a lot on it though, sort of an ereader substitute. And now with Google's Play Magazine... she barely talks to me, which can be a good thing
I have a Note 10.1, and for my purposes its great, be it movies, games, productivity (that's a big one for me). I do lots of design review for construction, so I'm constantly marking up pdf's with my Note.
And my S3 is just plane fun. Custom roms, tweaks, etc. So it depends on what you think you would need.

I have an iPad so that I can stay verse in both worlds of technology. I enjoy having the newest latest and greatest tweaks for each device. I use my iPad at school for notes and all that stuff. I've been debating on getting an Asus Tf300t because if the neat keyboard with touchpad attachment though, very nice. And the 32 gig nexus 7 is a contender as well. I do love using my s3 much more than my iPad though. It feels sluggish in comparison, but it does look nice aesthetically.
Tl;Dr
iPad for notes, Netflix, crunchyroll and sometimes music. Can do power points and such but I'd rather use my laptop.
S3 for my powerhouse device. Does everything I need it to. Music, talk, text, movies occasionally because of more space.
I have the Transformer Prime, which completely destroys pretty much any tablet in productivity (excluding other Transformer models).

I returned my tablet cause just didn't need it or use it enough. My phone does it all. Sure the screen is a little small but that's why I'm thinking of getting the note 2. Played with it and looks really good. Phone and tablet all in one. Can't beat that.

Generally speaking I use my Nexus 7 from web browsing, games to watching videos. Watching videos is better on 7 inch screen than lets say 4.2 or 4.8 inch etc. My N7 is more of an extension to my SGSIII.
I am not sure how it will fair with my GNote 2 (that I will be getting in a month).

Wanted some input from someone more tech savvy than I. Since the difference between 720 and 1080 smaller tv screens to our eyes are not much different (so I was told it only matters on very large tv's)
Will there be a huge discernable difference btween 720 and 1080 phone screens to the naked eye?
Thanks

I'm sure it makes a difference. How big of a difference I don't know. I haven't seen a 1080 screen yet. But the Note 2 has the best screen I've ever seen. I can't see the pixels, but when I look really close I can barely see the ragged edge of text. Simply reading it's wonderful, no pixels.
For a screen as big as the note 2's, you will definitely see a difference between 720p and 1080p.

I saw a droid dna and note 2 comparison side by side of the same .jpg image and I mean on the 1080p screen of the DNA you could definitely see the shadows on the space shuttle were more defined and not as washed out as the note 2 . Other very minute details were visible when you really looked at them . At first glance you could again see the dna was *slightly* more defined. Due to the lower pixel density and the 720p of the note 2.
That being said . Any difference was only slight and would not have lead me to chose the DNA over the note 2 alone. Now THAT being said. If you were going for the most high definition clearest possible picture with super bright colors . The note 2 is definitely not the winner.
I purchased the note 2 because I was going to buy a tablet in addition to the phone I had and the note 2 was JUST big enough to where it was acceptable for browsing the web and gaming as well as all the standard smart phone features. Im pleased with my choice as far as what I was looking for / expecting in my comprimise.

Same here. I had the nexus 7 and a Galaxy nexus. When the Note 2 came out I bought it simply because it's just big enough for both without carrying 2 devices. As far 720 vs 1080 I don't know that there would be to much visable difference. Not to mention you would need more battery to carry the extra on a 1080. I'm very happy with the screen on the Note 2!

NZTechfreak's connectivity review seems to imply that it can do this, are you sure it can't?
The Note 2 has plenty of pixels to do everything you want it to. Adding more pixels isn't going to make your user experience much better. Maybe worse if it drains the battery. Also, I would rather have the extra .5 inches of the Note 2.
How do these two games run on the Razer phone?
DC Legends
StarWars Galaxy Of Heroes
Do they run as good as they do on iPhone?
I had Note 8 and they ran poor. Frame rate wasn’t smooth. They ran poor on GS8+ too.
Is there Visual voicemail on the phone like with any provider? Or Att?
Is it only GSM? I’d use Att as my provider if no cdma.
Ran both games just now with out game booster at 90hz 0 issues. Will run game booster tommorow and share my results
Thanks. They ran perfectly smooth or something?
If they run good on the Razer, why do you think that is? It’s essentially the same phone as the others I tried except with the screen being faster hz but I’m not sure if that would make a difference.
Smooth no issues, the only difference is clock speed and ram... Guessing those factors played a role, will see if i can screen record and upload the video
These games don’t run good on the Note 8 and the Razer and Note 8 have the same cpu and gpu with the Note 8 at 6gb ram and Razer 8gb. Don’t think the ram would make any difference. Frame rate isn’t that good on the Note 8. It’s decent but I can see jerky game play and menus/screens don’t load as good as I think they should.
My iPhone 6s Plus plays these two games absolutely perfect. Very fast screen loading and very smooth gameplay. My iPhone 8 Plus is even faster with loading etc of course.
I just don’t get it. The over two year old iPhone 6s Plus is perfect yet the Note 8 doesn’t even come close.
I just wonder if the Razer having less or no bloat and the screen makes the difference.
These two games are the only games I play consistently. Then WorldWarfare once in a while.
YT Link Star Wars
DC Legends
The SW video is at 720p(Newb Mistake), the DC one is at FullHD after moving the recorder Settings >.>
Thank you. Was the number shown the frame rate?
That looked like it runs a bit better then my note 8 when I had it but not 100% sure.
Be nice if there was someplace local to test.

Yeah the Green #s where frame rate, i do like the style of games as you can see in the SW game im lv 20, but im also poor and cant afford micro transactions so i have to grind it out.
Im more oriented into controller supported games like the GTA's. MAX Payne 1, limbo and currently Street Fighter IV on mobile and a TON of Emulators.
Honorable mentions : Need for Speed No limits, Tekken, Mario run and Hitman Sniper.
Is there anyway I could use that screen recorder app on my Moto X Pure? Free? I’d like to see the frame rate of those 2 games on my only android phone.
And is this possible to do on iPhone? See the frame rate?
Just my opinion but it would seem to me that it would be easier to make games run smoothly on an iPhone because of the OS and hardware are designed together. That would make it easier to optimize for. Android is all over the place with OS version and hardware that it runs on. That is just the difference between a closed and open system.

I wonder why the Moto X Pure doesn’t have that option?
I sold my moto x Pure last night. Now I need an unlocked cdma and gsm phone but don’t know what to get.
So the issue I have with this comparison is your comparing a game quality of play ability for 2 different OS's. They will NEVER be comparable. The programming for one phone vs the other is different. Memory management is different. graphics processing is different. The processor itself runs different because of the load the OS puts onto the system itself. The better part of the comparison is between the Note 8 and the Razer. The answer is probobly a mixture of Ram, screen refresh rates and OS.
I agree with you ^^^^
I just got the Razer Phone today.
It plays DC Legends great. Much better then the s8+ I tried last year and much better then the note 8. No idea why. Maybe ram. But don’t think it’s been optimized for the 120hz screen because I guess if it was you’d be able to tell and it’d be way way smooth. But it was in the couple battles I did close to my iPhones and no android I’ve tried even comes close except the Razer does. It’s nice.
I have not tried Star Wars Galaxy Of Heroes. Will tomorrow or tonight.
The ui in the Razer is super smooth and fast. Not even 120hz. Apps open way fast and web pages load super quick.
Best phone speakers by a lot.
Screen is overall really nice but with one major issue. Major to me. It’s viewing angle is terrible. It’s a typical IPS screen. Looks nice but once you’re off center it immediately falls way short. Still ok but I’m just rating it very poor. I’d guess any other high end phone last year to now has a better viewing angle. All iPhones since 6s Plus have a better screen I think.
So a speedy phone is let down buy an ok screen. Clear text etc but poor viewing angle let it down. Enough that if the gs9+ plays my games good I’m getting that instead. But of course their screens are amazing.
I like the Razer a lot except for the screen viewing angle. I lay my phone down on my bed flat while I use it and it’s always slightly above my face so I’m off center.
Take that back. My iPhone 8 Plus has a poor viewing angle too.
