[Q] I think i killed my One x - Please help - HTC One X

I think i managed to kill my one x. Here what i did to it.
I unlocked the bootloader with the One_X_All-In-One_Kit_v2.3. At this point i was still S ON. After that i flashed TWRP 2.6.0 and then cm-10.1-20130806-NIGHTLY-endeavoru. Unfortunately the ROm did not boot so i got smart and wiped everything in TWRP and tried the InsertCoin_ONE_X_v18.1.0_REPACK Rom.
Now my phone keeps rebooting all the time. When it boots up it just shows that there is no signal. When i try to unlock the screen i just have HTC on white background.
Would some please be so kind to tell me how to get it up and running again. I assumed that there is a stock rom which i can just flash over what i did but i figured out i was wrong
TIA

Im guessing you didnt flash the kernel from within the rom.zip file?

You need fastboot.exe from the android sdk and htc drivers for your phone installed (htc sync)
Reboot phone to bootloader
Open a command prompt and cd to the folder where fastboot is located
Type: fastboot flash boot boot.img (you can drag and drop the boot.img if you prefer or have it ready in the folder with fastboot)
Type: fastboot erase cache
Type: fastboot reboot
This is using the kernel (boot.img) that came with the rom you are about to or have already flashed.

Stuck trying to install custom rom

Okay so I am trying to install the jdroid rom, btw first time ever doing this so bare with me, anyways I can't boot my phone stays at HTC quietly brilliant screen with some writing underneath it red. I can get into the bootloader menu, where I am rooted and says my bootloader is unlocked. I can also get into clockwork mod however I messed up when transferring the rom onto my phone. I unzipped it and put it there instead of leaving it in the zip file. I can't mount to my laptop through clockwork mod, is there any other way? Again I can't boot my phone. Thanks
EDIT: Now whenever my phone boots, it boots into the clockworkmod and keeps rebooting I can't do anything, cant mount my phone at all

You need to enter the fastboot mode ... hold "volume-down + powerbutton" for 10 secs and then again push the powerbutton to enter the fastboot mode.
Edit: and after that use the comand fastboot flash recovery nameofrecovery.img
Just saw the edit now will try thanks alot man appreciate it!

What you need to do when flashing:
a) CWM recovery
fastboot flash recovery xxxrecovery.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot erase cache
b) Flashing a ROM
extract the boot.img from the ROM.zip
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot erase cache
enter recovery
install the ROM.zip
reboot

Next time also read the instructions.
M.
as long as you can get the correct RUU and flash the correct stock recovery, RUU will defo work, then you can start again from scratch. I've done this myself
edit: AT&T????? Are you even in the correct forum using the correct files/methods??? HTC One XL is different forum, different files!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Alright I got out of it using the st&t ruu, though I live in Canada and on Rogers. Data doesnt work but that is not surprise. Gotta wait for a root access and/or bootloader unlock for 1.85. will be patient.

Cannot access flashboot / recovery - RESOLVED

Hi,
I've looked through a lot of threads but can't match the symptoms to mine (this could be a lack of knowledge on my part) so any help is appreciated.
I've previously flashed ARHD a number of times successfully including a new boot image. I flashed 9.2 today with CD Tools Suite and this was fine. I later decided that I wanted to re-flash without the CD Suite Tools and did this by going into recovery and re-flashing the ARHD zip.
The update ran successfully (per CWM) but I can't boot into it. All I get to is the HTC One white screen with a beats audio logo beneath it. I also can't get the phone to reboot into flashboot / recovery so that I can do anything with it (I've tried holding the power button and either vol up or down but this just reboots the phone and it goes back to the white screen again).
I'm sure there is a way out of this. Could anyone please help me?
Many thanks.

Did you use fastboot to flash the correct boot.img file first? It's my understanding that anytime you flash a rom you must flash via fastboot the correct boot.img file for that rom followed by erasing cache before entering recovery and flashing the rom.
Didn't someone say holding volume up & power can brick your phone?
Fastboot is volume down & power.
Press them at the exact same time, keep them held till fastboot loads up (even if it does another reboot)

They both use the same boot image so no need to re-flash that.

Boot loop, no device found error, can't do anything

Hi guys I am a new user to xda-developers and I am a noob still at rooting and flashing. What happened is that I had rooted my htc one x tegra 3 international version a couple of days back as i wanted CM10 Alpha 9. It did work but then I wanted to get the CM 10 Alpha 11 after flashing i don't know what happened now my boot screen is only in the CM 10 loading logo and I accidently deleted clockwork recovery (don't ask me how I am an idiot) and when i connect my usb for fastboot it gives a "no device found" error when i give any command in the command prompt and its like i cannot even do anything on my phone like flash a new recovery through fastboot or flash any rom. I mean my phone is literally not working. Can you guys tell me what to do because I have been through many threads here and none of them have helped me maybe because I am an amateur.
I really want my phone to work and I have been trying for the past 3 days and no luck at all :crying:
Thanks

Make sure you have all the correct drivers installed on your pc.
when you plug your phone in bootloader and then fastboot
it should say fastboot usb on your phone
if you have adb and fastboot it should recognise it then, you can flash recovery
try the command
fastboot getvar cid
and see if it comes back with your cid then you will know its working
failing that you can restore it back to stock using an RUU.
ive added some drivers for you.
put them in a folder on your desktop,
Go to fastboot andif your pc cannot find you a driver automatically , then go to device manager, and look for your device then right click and click update. then browse for driver manually and select the folder on your desktop, worked for me
Do You open the command prompt exactly in the folder where the adb drivers are? Left shift+ right click on the folder where the adb files are. Then "open the command prompt here".
Try to command: "fastboot devices" and look what it says

Hey thank you for the helpful reply much appreciated. The usb driver is fine as it says "My HTC" so thats fine. I relocked my phone through fastboot somehow that worked yay! But its weird the fastboot commands work but not adb is there something wrong i am doing, whenever i type any adb command it comes with "no device found error." Plus when I flashed clockwork recovery through fastboot commands it says its successful but it doesnt go there it goes back to the cm10 boot loop. Im guessing because adb is not working or something it must be because of that.

Yes with fastboot its working i get my HTC device but not with adb. Whats the difference anyway im sorry i am a noob so I dont know but I think its important to have adb working or I can't run any recovery right because with fastboot I can flash a recovery but the recovery won't start.
Adb is just a tool which allows the phone to communicate with the computer. If you have rooted your phone you must have it in your computer. It should be in place where you installed SDK drivers. SDK/platform-tools/.

Okay so I managed to get adb working too. Thanks guys but now i flashed CWM Recovery which works and tried to flash CM10 Alpha 11 but again its stuck in the CM10 loading screen. I guess I should now get my stock RUU and install that because I cannot get any custom rom to boot, am I right? That means relocking the phone and getting the stock recovery image. I need to know which stock recovery image to download is it the 1.29.401.7 or 1.29.401.11? I am pretty much guessing the 1.29.401.11 recovery image. And my stock Radio is 2.1204.135.20 which is the European model because I used to get OTA updates before I started rooting and stuff. And I need to be careful if I am doing the correct installation.

Wow thank you so much! You are a life saver I didn't know something so simple I missed out on and when I had been getting instructions from devs to flash custom roms, they didn't even tell us to even flash boot.img or maybe I was thinking it was not important. Wow thank you so much! CM 10 Alpha 11 is working properly and now I learnt a lesson to flash boot.img.
On a final note, if I want my stock RUU radio back, do I need to get boot, img from anywhere or am I fine. What is boot.img anyways?
Again, Thanks everyone I really appreciate it.

If you use Ruu.exe (Rom Update Utility) then you do not need to flash boot.img. It will return your phone to stock. Put boot.img in as well as stock recovery.

Which ROM are You trying to flash? If it is a Kitkat ROM as You mentioned, then first copy the ROM and gapps to phone for flashing purposes .
Now, on PC, extract the boot.img from rom zip and flash it via fastboot. Then flash the ROM via twrp which would be installed from that boot.img!

First connect Your phone to pc. Then type this command:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Then Your phone will reboot in fastboot mode(The blue led would be lit.)
If the blue led does not lit up, then disconnect Your phone, power it off. The press volume up button and connect the phone the pc. The phone will have the blue led now.
Then type following command to flash the boot.img:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Do note copy the ROM.zip to phone first and then perform above steps.

You must have not flashed the rom after flashing the boot.img. That's why it used to get stuck on boot logo of Sony. The kernel(boot.img) of any Kitkat ROM won't with JB ROM as far as I know.
Don't worry, there is still hope since You can at least get it to boot up halfway.
That flashing the original ftf is weird. Are You sure the ftf file is proper? Try downloading a new one. or if You were able to successfully able to flash the original firmware according to flashtool, try flashing it again using Sony Update Service(SUS). Can't guarantee the SUS will work or not.

Hello.
I'm trying to get this **** working as well, but even though it seems like you gave some crystal clear instructions I still manage to not understand it. I unlocked the bootloader on my S and downloaded. All I really wanted to do was get a good 4.4 ROM running, any chance you could toss an idiot some help?
From what I understand:
1. copy the ROM zip-file over to phone
2. connect phone to pc and fastboot it
3. flash the boot.img from the rom zip-file
4. flash the ROM (how?)
I did a quick google on twrp but don't quite understand what I need it for or if I need it.
EDIT: After a bit of looking, apparently the ROM I'm looking to flash (Paranoid Android) installs twrp when you flash the boot.img. Just in case that changes anything.
Brick?
Hi. So I just tried to flash the boot.img from the latest Paranoid Android, got 0 errors or bad blocks, succesful flash according to cmd. I did fastboot reboot as the guide here says: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526866
LED notification goes pink for a few seconds, I get the Sony logo then just an infinite black screen. Left it on for about 15 minutes with no success. I tried force rebooting/shutting it down with volup+power for 5/10 seconds, but both of them just result in the phone getting instantly turned back on and going pink LED->Sony logo->black screen. This means I can't (from what I can tell anyway) boot into fastboot (vol-up+connect to USB does nothing, vol-down+connect to USB gets me a green LED for a few seconds but then goes over to pink LED, Sony logo and then black screen).
I would really appreciate any kind of help right now, even just advice on how to turn this phone off would be fantastic, because right now that also seems impossible.

No worries! If You were able to perform upto step no.3 properly, then when You boot into twrp(Press volume up button 2-3 times while booting up), there is an option there called as "Install". In that You select the zip file of the ROM and slide the bar to install it!

[Q] Can't enter recovery Verizon m8

Hello guys, I've had a problem with my phone since flashing 5.0 firmware months ago but I'm just now getting to fixing it.
I have twrp recovery and some 5.0.1 rom that was in beta awhile ago. Everytime I boot into twrp in boots right into fastboot, whatever it's called, after about 5 seconds, so I can't flash any roms, which I think is the problem since it's pretty buggy.
Another thing is that Whenever I charge the phone while it's off, it boots into bootloader and therefore stops charging. Anyway I can fix my recovery without recovery?
This is Verizon htc one m8.
Thanks guys.
Edit: tried using twrp app to reinstall recovery but it boots into bootloader instead.

Of course there's a way. Just like the way you first installed a custom recovery. I will give you instructions in case you've forgotten, or if the phone was pre-rooted when you got it.
Download the latest TWRP from here onto your PC.
When the download is finished, rename it to recovery.img and place it into your fastboot folder.
Hook up your phone to your PC, get into ADB/fastboot, and issue the command fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Then when it's done fastboot reboot
You should now have a working TWRP recovery.
