I noticed that the Privacy Guard in CM10.1 does not show all of my downloaded apps such as games like "Contre Jour" or even my "American Express" app... any reason for this? Is this a bug in the code, or is it user error? Thanks!

Hey,
I used to get random ads with a red star beside them on my rom, and caused me to wonder why since i had adfree installed. They used to bug me to no end until i found this app. Install it and it tells you what apps are causing these random ads to turn up on your stats bar!
Cheers!!

I'm wondering does OxygenOS have a similar feature to Privacy Guard in CM so I can manage apps from waking up?
Sadly, not yet..
It is the feature I miss most in all non CM based ROMs...
Hello,
I do not quite understand how Android permissions work.
When I install any app it says that "app does not require special permissions", however after installation I go to Settings - Privacy - Privacy Guard - select that app, and see that app wants to read my contacts, read my SMS messages, start at boot, and turn on Wi-Fi! And all these permissions are allowed by default!
Why these permissions are not displayed when I install the app, and why these permissions are enabled by default?
Is it possible to disable absolutely all permissions (or "Always ask") by default? I haven't found anything like this in Privacy Guard settings.
I use LineageOS 14.1 on Samsung S5 "kltesprsports" if that matters.
I found one similar thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/general/guide-improve-fix-privacy-guard-lineage-t3739136
Seems that it was done intentionally "in attempts to clean it up".
What really shocks me is
Until an app actually uses a feature it will not appear in the privacy guard unless it has been specifically declared. This also means by the time it appears in the privacy guard, it's already accessed your information.

Is it possible to disallow all permissions for all apps by default? Or do I have to run the script provided in that thread for every new app I install?

Setting 'Enabled by default' from the overflow menu on screen 1 of PG settings should auto-set those permissions to "Ask'.

yes, it does not. I would like to set by default all permissions to ask in privacy guard.

unfortunately, it's impossible.
I found out that the Privacy Guard is owned by Google for several years already (i.e. moved from Cyanogenmod to vanilla Android) that's why it has such behavior.
Is there any way to hide the app name that appears on almost all system apps like gallery, phone, messagss. Files etc without root?
It really makes the phone slower, i have seen that the a70 does not have this animation for stock apps.
This can be removed but only with root and a custom rom.

ok
settings > advanced features > reduce animations
I've been setting up a new phone with LineageOS 14.1 and I'm finding that Privacy Guard is an amazing feature in this ROM! Already I've used it to extend my battery life from 22 hours to almost two days by disabling some of the apps running in the background. But as I tweak it I keep going into and out of PG and it's becoming time consuming - my concern is something might happen requiring me to get into Privacy Guard fast to undo something.
Can someone please tell me how I can create s shortcut on my phone's desktop to take me directly to Privacy Guard? This would be a tremendous help. Thank you.
Make a Settings widget in your launcher. It is one of the options.
