Vox's Jelly Bean theme for UFME7 ROMs
Summary
I made this package to :
- Give back to Jelly Bean 4.2.2 based Samsung ROMs pure Android look & feel,
- Get rid of most of Samsung's Touchwiz applications and interface "enhancements" to remove lags and restore user experience as intended by Google.
This flashable package replaces system's framework & UI, along with other userland apps in order to get vanilla Jeally Bean experience back.
So far, it is only compatible with 4.2.2 leaked Samsung stock ROMs. It has been created and tested using Omega v46, so I do not know about other ROMs. Please let me know if you try on something else.

Very important disclaimer
In order to revert the system back to JB Messaging, Email and Contacts/Dialer applications, the installer has to DELETE the TelephonyProvider datas, the Email datas and the LogsProvider datas. This has the following consequences :
- MMS & SMS messages will be deleted ! Use a backup & restore application to backup your messages before installation and re-insert them after. SMS backup & restore on Google Play will perfectly do the Job. You may choose not to install the Messaging application in order to avoid doing this, but you'll be stuck will the hideous and laggy Samsung one.
- Emails (NOT GMail) will be deleted. If your Email account is an IMAP account, simply re-configure it and your messages will be downloaded back. However if your email account resides on a POP3 server, they probably were downloaded to your device and removed from the server. In this case, all messages will be lost. In this case, DO NOT install the Email application.
- Call logs will be wiped. This is necessary because Samsung apps do store MMS entry using a specific identifier which is not known to Android standard apps. Resulting in dialer app Force Closings. As per Messaging and Email, you may not install JB Persons/Dialer application to keep those logs.
Legal statement : THE PACKAGE IS PROVIDED `AS IT' WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY. I WILL NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA. DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISKS.
Note to JB's UI purists around there
You will probably notice than a few UI elements have not been JBized. Most notably the QuickSettings panel along with Settings' icons, ActionBar for TW-based apps and the Phone app's UI.
The formers only because I shamelessly do prefer Samsung's colorful ones (hate me, please.) The later because I did not had enough time to do it, and because it's a pure TW app that I didn't manage to replace without any side-effects. I guess I'll simply "theme" it in order to give consistency to the whole dialing experience, unless I manage to finaly get rid of it and replace it with JB's standard Phone.apk.

What the... with the Launcher ?
This package does NOT remove the dreaded standard Touchwiz Launcher. Launcher is a strong question of personal taste and I wouldn't dare forcing anyone with some or some other launcher that fits my tastes.
I personally uses Nova Launcher, and am currently giving a chance to Perfect Launcher. This last one has been featured here, on XDA Developers, very recently and looks very promising already.
If you want to send TW Launcher to oblivion, follow these steps (you'll have to have ADB which is the Android Debugging Bridge) :
1. Reboot into recovery mode
2. Launch an ADB shell
3. mount /system
4. rm /system/app/SecLauncher2.apk
5. umount /system
6. exit shell
7. Go to Advanced in the recovery and Wipe Dalvik Cache (you can also "rm /data/dalvik-cache/[email protected]@SecLauncher*" within the adb shell session if you do not want to wait for the system to rebuild all dex upon next boot)
8. Reboot system
Installation
The flashable ZIP file uses the Aroma Installer (credits to them !)
1. Put the ZIP (without decompressing it!) somewhere on your phone (internal flash or external SDcard)
2. Reboot your phone in recovery mode
3. Select "Install update" option and navigate to the place where you put the ZIP file
4. Within the installer, select at least the Base System entries (Framework & SystemUI)
5. Let the installer finish its work, and when done navigate to the Reboot system option of the recovery
Final notes
I modified a bit of smali code in the SystemUI package in order the simulate JB native behaviour in the SystemUI statusbar panel. This may not interact well with other mods custom drawable resources and layouts. I wouldn't recommend applying mods/themes for this part of the system (but you still might get interesting results!)

Perhaps I forgot to include something in the package. If you could provide me with a logcat, the stacktraces will greatly help me to determine the root cause.
As I said, this is not a mere theme that just replaces drawables. System apps are swapped with their original JB counterparts.
Reinstalling your ROM on top will restore previous APKs. Then try to reinstall the package with only Framework & SystemUI first. This won't replace any app APKs.

A Complete Noobs Guide

I cant make this any simpler for you.
TO HAVE A CLEAN ROM = JUST FLASH THE ZIP
TO USE YOUR OWN LIST PUT ROMCleaner_User.txt ON YOUR SDCARD IN
Code:
/sdcard/ROMCleaner
Steps:
-Nandroid Backup
-Superwipe
-Flash Rom
-Without Rebooting Flash ROM Cleaner
-Reboot
Quick Start Guide
Ok, this is a quick start guide for those user who just want to flash and go.
The cleaner uses one of two text files located in the ROMCleaner folder on your SD card.
ROMCleaner.txt - This is the default cleaner list that the script will read from. This list will be placed on your card on the first run of the cleaner. It will be overwritten each time the cleaner is run to ensure the latest updates are applied.
OR
ROMCleaner_User.txt - This is your custom cleaner list. You can create this file at any time and the cleaner will automatically read from it.
File Locations:
Code:
/sdcard/ROMCleaner/ROMCleaner.txt <--- This is the default list and will be created automatically
/sdcard/ROMCleaner/ROMCleaner_User.txt <--- This is your personal list which you create.
Summary
In short, all you have to do is add text to a file and put apks into a folder.
Yes yes that simple.
You can even edit the text files and copy apks using just your device.
While we still recommend you use http://notepad-plus-plus.org/ to edit your list on a PC to maintain the UNIX encoding the cleaner will also double check and convert the file if it finds it has been converted to a windows format.
Folder Creator
Click to collapse
We have created this small flashable zip to aid you in getting the cleaners directory structure setup.
It should only need to be run once before using but can be run at any time to completely recreate the structure. Any files or folders in place will not be harmed if flashing again.
The script contains a small reboot to workround a very small bug in some recoveries. This bug will not update the sdcards file view to show new folders.
This is to help us avoid the obligatory "I flashed the zip but it didnt create the folders" posts.
Creating Your Own List
Click to collapse
While the default list should be enough for most users, we have included the ability to define your own custom list for the cleaner to remove.
Creating your own list is as simple as adding files to a text file! This can be done a variety of ways, from an editor on your PC or via an editor on your Phone!
The easiest way to start your own list is to use the one attached to the first post.
Run the folder creator or create the following structure on you sdcard
Code:
/sdcard/ROMCleaner/ROMCleaner_User.txt
As long as this file is present, the cleaner will read from it instead of the default ROMCleaner.txt.
To add to it all you have to do is add the apk file or folder you would like removed during cleaning.
Single apk files should just be listed while folders should be encased in quotes (" ")
Any item with a # in front of it will be ignored by the cleaner.
The cleaner will check BOTH the /system and /data partitions for any apk file named in the list and remove it if it finds it
Examples:
To add files:
Code:
UselessApp.apk
Simple as that
To add folders:
Code:
"/system/app/UselessFolder"
Ignored example:
Here, both the empty folder and UselessApp2 will be deleted while UselessApp1 will be ignored.
Code:
"/system/app/EmptyFolder"
#UselessApp1.apk
UselessApp2.apk
We have also included the ability to batch delete a certain filetype by using the following syntax -
Code:
"/path/to/folder/*.fileextension"
Heres an example from the default list to remove all .png images from the resources folder:
Code:
"/system/customize/resource/*.png"
The default ROMCleaner.txt also includes these instructions to help you start your own list.
Before ROM Cleaner(On Desire HD Running Sense 2.1)
After ROM Cleaner
As you can see, the default ROM cleaner script was able to save about 25 mb of RAM. The amount of RAM saved could be greater depending on what your remove. And remember that the Desire Z only has 512 mb of RAM so 25 mb is a substantial amount. Have Fun
i never get it how to remove or not some htc widgets with rom cleaner. i always use titaniun for unistalling. now im reading carefully to learn how to use it. thank you for your time!

Yea, when i first used this script a long time ago, i was really confused on how it all worked but i figured it out after some help on xda Basically it all comes down to customizing the script yourself on notepad+ and choosing what you want to remove and what you want to keep. It takes some trial and error but in the end its worth it

Hi there dcpathak!
If you look at the original thread HERE, you can find this in the ABOUT section:
* Fully compatible with Sense 3.0, 3.5, 3.6, 4.0 and AOSP ROMs with ICS
So I would suggest you go for the latest release of ROMCleaner v5.0r3. If you used it please report back. It would be highly appreciated
Cheers!

You have a PM
Why Google thinks I need the quick search bar at the top of every screen is a mystery to me.
Do I use it? Sure, all the time, but I hate the big white bar on the top of all my screens. You can uninstall or freeze Google search to remove it, but then you don’t have it anymore!!!
So I have edited the Launcher2.apk file so that it doesn’t display the search bar and spread the screen out a little to fill the empty space, but Google search is still installed! You can simply go to the widgets and select google search, and paste it ANYWHERE on ANY screen and RESIZE it also!!!
The only issue I have found so far is that Google decided to imbed the remove icon in with the search bar (the place where you drag an icon to remove it from the screen). You can still remove an icon by flicking it upward though. Thanks @MilkyJoePD for reminding me, I deserve a big Duh! This mod is only for portrait orientation, landscape is unaffected (no white bar to bother me so I left it alone). Deleting icons is the same as it always was in landscape orientation. Turn your Nexus sideways, remove whatever you want without any problem.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
This is based off of stock roms. I deodexed the launcher and did my mods. If you are already running a deodexed rom, flash away! If your rom is odexed, this will still work fine, BUT YOU MUST MANUALLY DELETE THE Launcher2.odex file from the /system/priv-app folder after you flash it. If you’re using twrp, simply mount system and then use the file explorer to navigate to the /system/priv-app directory and delete the odex file. I haven’t used CWM for quite awhile and don’t remember off the top of my head how to do it from there. You can also delete it using adb (boot into recovery, mount system, then "adb shell" then "rm /system/priv-app/Launcher2.odex").
If you use the “Restore Stock Launcher” zip, it restores the stock deodexed launcher. It should run fine, even on an odexed rom (assuming you deleted Launcher2.odex).
Will this work on other devices? Like the 3g. I have no idea, I don’t have one (probably yes). Do a nandroid and try it.
Speaking if nandroid, DO ONE!!! I have flashed this many, many times on my device (2012 WiFi), and everything has been fine, but other than that, no other testing has been done.

Slide the icon around up there and you’ll finally find that sweet spot where it turns red and then you can remove it.
Luckily, there is a work around. This mod is only for portrait orientation, landscape is unaffected (no white bar to bother me so I left it alone). Deleting icons is the same as it always was in landscape orientation. Turn your Nexus sideways, remove whatever you want without any problem.

I'm running KitKat 4.4.2 and I have Launcher2.
What setup uses Launcher3? This mod was pretty easy, If I get Launcher3 I can get it done pretty quickly.
To remove an icon you can just fling it up, no need to find the sweet spot.

TIPS
TWO PULL-DOWN MENUS TOP AND BOTTOM (iOS style)
Top Menu: Notifications
Bottom menu: Toogle Button - Task killer:
. crawl individual icons from the bottom up to remove from memory
.or all memory-resident programs, swiping from left to right at the height of the icons (appears trash)
TO ENTER THE DUALRECOVERY (NUT):
START OF Z1C, PRESS BUTTON VOLUME, ONLY AFTER GREEN LIGHT AND VIBRATION
BRIGHT FOR SCREEN
If you have enabled automatic brightness and want to increase the brightness FAST: Open the drop down menu bottom, tap (A), to adjust brightness.
POSITION CHANGE OF SOFTKEY (for left handed like me)
Settings / Advanced / Accessibility / Virtual Key
OTHER FEATURES DESKTOP:
swiping the icons at the bottom, from left to right:
app list in alphabetical order
swiping the icons at the bottom, from right to left:
voice assistant
FOR PAIRING BLUETOOTH DEVICE:
Connect your device ... After Z1C recognizes the device but delay connection
Simply turn off the device and then on again. The device will be connected.
NOTES
THE ROM ONLY LANGUAGE: ENGLISH AND CHINESE
But inserting sim-card identifies the rom your language automatically, many features of the system should be in your own language
- Even for many external apks multilanguage (as tests and photos in italian language)
IN SETTINGS / ADVANCED / BACKUP & RESET: WARNING !!!! RESTORE TAKES SOME TIME BECAUSE CLEAR SD-CARD INTERNAL!
The wallpaper of the lockscreen, for pak selected, changes every two hours.
CAPILLARY ANALYSIS OF THE EXTERNAL APKS:
often during install apps, permission manager starts working,
noting the privileges that are given for the application.
EXAMPLE: Many applications require phone ID, IuniOs that can detect and highlight.
EDIT Obviously, as for My rom Miui, use only, "one" of the two tweaks Sound.
MaxxAudio is on by default. Press Off MaxxAudio, if you want to use Viper.
Viper is uninstalled.

what you say, to me, it does not appear.
I used this rom daily for some time, before publishing.
But without hearing any sound crazy.
Of course I take it for granted that you have used (one) only tweaks sound. You've used layers volumes -medium / bas. The higher volume is normal distortion, as with any system loudness-
I also write this, the first post of this thread, and better explained to the first post (notes) of my Miui Rom.
Update?
