[Q] Will This possibly work? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

I posted a thread earlier, asking how to revert a Modded google play store to normal and barely got any real.. answers. I was wondering if I got a normal APK Google Play Store, replace the modded version in System>Apps with Root Browser and then Restore with Titanium Backup and reboot would it work? Mind if anyone would care to confirm this for me? If not then give me your way of returning to normal Google Play Store status.

[I was able to restore mine by downloading the newest version and putting it in system/apps, renaming it and then restarting. Make sure you change the permissions on the new file to make sure it will work right. You need to rename the new play store to phonesky.apk most likely. Just make sure that is what yours is called in system/app first.

yes, copy the playstore you want to use, copy it over using root explorer, copy to system/app dir, renaming the original first, then set the correct permissions, and reboot, it will work...
thank you

When you say change the permissions on the new file do you mean with Lucky Patcher? Just making sure..

Thank you thank you. I sorta figured it out with a friend if mine but this was just clarification.. I also found an option in Lucky Patcher that says "Install modded version of Google play store" as well as included a normal version of the play store

[Q] people apk

im looking for the people apk from sense 1.0 coz i accidentally deleted it and i dont know the name of the apk to extract it
the name is htccontac.apk or htccontacwidget.apk but you need to push with adb
Here, try this. But it may be the inverted version. All i had saved sorry.

Put in system/app. Using root explorer, make sure to set permissions to rw-r-r (same as all in system/app). Then reboot.
Edit: Dont need to push, just use root explorer. I didnt upload the widget, didnt know you would want it.

Flashing gapps

Unrelated to the epic...I rooted my sisters phone while she was visiting over the weekend. She had to leave before I could flash CM7 on her phone so I'm doing it remotely right now. Her phone is old and has no support really so I'm asking here. When I try to boot in CWM it won't. I have figured out why but cannot fix it remotely. Is there a way to get gapps installed without going through CWM? Like download the .apk files individually and install them so she can at least log into her google account until I can fix it?

I think maybe you could download the gapps zip, extract it somewhere, and copy the apk files into the /system/app folder on the root of the phone. You'd have to use a file manager on the phone with root access, I recommend ES File Explorer, if you use this one then you have to tic a couple settings: Up to Root, Root Explorer, and Mount File System. After you copy the files into the system/app folder (ON THE PHONE, NOT ON THE SD CARD) then reboot the phone and should hypothetically be working.
Without having gapps, she will need to install amazon app store to get es file explorer, unless you want to track down the apk for it for her. As long as her browser is working she should be able to download the amazon app store without any trouble.
Thank you! Will give it a try.

Hm it keeps saying copy failed which sounds like there is no root but there is and things can be deleted. Anyone good with adb know if it can be flashed that way?

Weird. It installed googleservicesframework but nothing else. I still can't write anything to the root but I can delete. Its like I have half a rooted device. But I get an "install parse failed no certificates error" when I try anything else.

Application as System App

Sorry i have a lot of questions.
Can i make ordinary apps to system app?
If possible where can i get them and move it to system/app.
And if i move a app to system app.. will they still update normally?
Yes, just move them from data/app to system/app, reboot, done.

Don't forget to set permissions to rw-r--r-- after moving to /system/app.

Sounds like a problem with permissions. I just had a similar problem myself. New to rooted Android, so there may be a better fix.
I installed SuperSU so that I could get away from Superuser, and when I started it up, it recommended updating the binaries. However, updating failed even after I granted root with Superuser. I checked out permissions, and had rwx-r-rwx. After trying with several apps, each with root access, I finally managed to change permissions to rwxrwxrwx. Reupdated SuperSU, and it worked. Then reset my permissions, and done. The app that managed to change permissions was ROM Toolbox Pro, for what it's worth.
I think you'll find it much easier using inteks' SystemCleanup app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1359611
If you want to odex the app, it will move and odex at the same time, you can move to /system/app or /vendor/app and back. One very nice feature is that it will even prompt you when an app you have in /system has been updated through Google Play, and you can update + odex the system apk.
Highly recommended!

I was saying there's an app, called SystemCleanup, that you can use to move whatever apps you like to system. It handles a lot of things for you (permissions, etc.)

It sounds like you need a file explorer with root access. Just find one from the play store, make sure you have read/write and boom uninstall it from there.

I don't know what to tell you. The only way you are going to be able to update it is if you delete it first.
Any idea how do I do that as I remove the account and stop the services still no luck?

Trying to get Google Wallet working...please help?

Ok, so I know there has been a lot of talk about this already. I searched and read numerous posts but I am still having problems. I dont know if I am reading old threads about this or what but this is what i have done. I downloaded "wallet installer". Im not sure how old the version was but it did in fact change the build prop to say nexus. I installed google wallet and now the "setup tap and pay" tab was finally there. I added a card to set it up and the card was added fine. But then it says "tap and pay failed". I don't know how to fix this problem at this point. I have even tried getting an older version of google wallet, but that did not work either. I tried the xposed installer, but it didnt work either. Is it possible to get this working on our phones?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I was having the same issues as you. I would install the GW Installer, reboot to find my device ID changed to GNex, install GW from the market and set up Tap and Pay, then Restore my build.prop in the GW Installer only to find out that the TnP feature wouldn't survive the build.prop restore. (I think the problem stems from an old version of GWInstaller and the new version of GW.apk. Installer needs updated I believe)
I did it probably 6 times and failed each time. But, in the end I used Loserskater's modded version (which is the latest) and it works fine. Just uninstall any version you have of GW and then push his modded version to /system/app and set permissions, reboot. Open up GW and set up TnP and your are good to go from there.
My Google Wallet physical card should arrive today in the mail. Right in time for Christmas shopping.

Ok. These are not apps that you install in the traditional way (ie Package Installer). What you want to do is go the the OP of that thread I linked and download this one (com.google.android.apps.walletnfcrel-2.0-R141-V14-MODDED.apk). Then using a file explorer like Root Explorer or ES, you copy that apk and open /system/app and paste it there. Once you do that, longpress on the app and set permissions to 644 (rw-r-r). Once that is done, back out of your file explorer and reboot. Then your GW will be installed. Upon reboot, you'll see it say, Updating Apps 1 of 1.
Open you app drawer, fire up the app and set up TnP.

Based on your signature, are you doing this on Tapatalk? If so, then your apk is in your tapatalk default download folder (wherever you have that located) and not in the normal "downloads" folder.
I meant i "cant" copy from the regular download manager. But i dont see the apk in ES

It says copy task failed when i try to "copy to" or move task failed when i try to "move to". Maybe its doing this because i searched for the file in ES instead of locating in manually?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Ok then. So you found the app. That is good. The reason why it won't move to /system/app is probably becuase you need to mount the /system partition in the file explorer. Since I don't use ES, I can't help you with that.
With Root Explorer, there is a button on the top left that stated "Mount R/O or Mount R/W". You need to mount your /system/app as RW.
Edit:
Here is how to mount it and where to find the settings to do so with ES.

Refer to my post just before your last one.
In your screen shot, look at the Blue !, See the very end where it says Read-Only file system? That is what I mean about you needing to make it Read-Write.
Lol..so close, yet so far. I think that link you just sent explains how to get the ES app. Im confused because after reading that thread i dont see where it explains how to make the wallet apk file writeable to be able to copy and paste to system/app using ES.
