[APK][TESTERS NEEDED] Modem Flash - Galaxy S 4 i9505 Android Development

Hi guys so am working on a custom setup for my rom and i want to test some parts of my setup wizard.Which will be to download a modem from my available list and flash them without entering recovery.I would really appreciate it if users with experience would give this a test! thanks!
Flash Modem DOWNLOAD
1.Extract Zip
2.Copy modem.bin to root of INTERNALSD (SDCARD)
3.install apk and press Flash modem
4.Phone may will freeze .Dont worry its normal.Press power button for 15 seconds.remove finger from button. Then press power button to boot up phone.
I Have tested it on my phone and they seem to work.BUT this is at your own risk. You can Perform a nand backup to restore kernel or have a update.zip of some sort to flash via recovery if anything goes wrong. If your phone does not boot when you try to flash a modem you will need to use odin to flash another kernel.
Thanks Guys!

Testing this right now, I'm just downloading the files. Sorry I can't test the modem part for you as I don't have access to a PC right now, I need network coverage and I can't restore my original modem if something goes wrong but I'll be happy to test later when I get back home.
EDIT: You've removed the post? Do you still want me to test this? I have the files ready

Compiled wrong apk for kernel flasher and I cant compile the working one right now..just delete the whole download dont flash anything.. but if you could test the modem part when u can thats great!

JB-MR1 Help!

Hi all, I was on AKOP's milestone ROM before trying to flash their newest one. I did not do anything to the kernel or anything by the way.
I'm using ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.2.7 and I rebooted into recovery and flashed super dark side wipe and then JB-MR1 and then gapps.
I went through the entire start up process with inputting your information and then finally I got into the actual home screen. I clicked around to see how the UI looked and then decided to reboot through the menu.
It was in the rebooting animation icon for at least 30 min before I decided to pull the battery. I want to wipe and start again but my cwm recovery isn't installing anything.
EDIT: The phone still works as I can boot into the phone and use it. I'm trying to reboot now: power button hold>reboot, but its taking ages still...need help on this reboot thanks
Any help here?
EDIT 2: Pretty much phone is "functional" but any method of trying to reboot or reboot into recovery fails
Thanks all!
Check the Md5 hash to make sure it is a good download.
Otherwise it sounds like it is CWM that can be causing issues.
Which version of gapps are you flashing?

Checked the Md5 with an app and it matches up perfectly with akop's main website.
I'm running 6.0.2.8 cwm. Is it even possible that its cwm? I used the same version to flash AKOPs new ROM.
and im flashing gapps-jb-20121212-signed.zip
Does it have anything to do with my kernel?
You aren't supposed to use super wipe with cwm 6. That is probably your problem.

Thanks so much for pinpointing the problem! Is there a fix to this?
And is this the recommended method of flashing? (Taken from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1926754):
1. Wipe factory data/reset
2. Wipe cache
3. Go into mounts and storage
4. Format /system
5. Format /data
6. Format /cache
7. Enter advanced
8. Wipe dalvik
9. Flash ROM then gapps
10. Reboot and let the ROM settle for 5-10 minutes if flashing TW ROMs, this step is unnecessary for AOSP based ROMs.
11. (Optional) if flashing a new radio flash AFTER the ROM has been initially booted for the first time. No wipes are necessary when flashing a new radio but it HAS to be flashed after the ROM is loaded and settled in. Flashing a radio first and then a ROM has caused issues like the phone not even recognizing there is a network for it. ( phone remains in emergency mode )
Edit:
Pretty sure my phone is bricked now... in a continuous boot up loop... BUT i can still access recovery

Yes, those are the proper flashing instructions for CWM6.
It sounds like you have a soft brick. I think your best bet is to Odin back to stock. Have a look here:

Good luck.

You sir are a saving grace!
I'll try this at once!!
I have 2 questions though.
1. in regard to kernels. Do i need to do anything (aka change my kernel?) Or is the stock kernel suitable for 4.2.1?
2. If i cant boot into my phone to get to my SD card, how do i download and put files onto my phone?

Stock kernel is just fine.
Odin will flash the stock OS to your phone from the computer. Make sure to read the Odin directions a few times before trying it because it could hard brick if something goes wrong.

I'm trying to read through the thread you gave me but its kinda cluttered and its hard finding exactly where to start...pointers?
From the first post of that thread you will need
1. The prerequisites
-Odin
-Drivers
-Kies(dunno if this is mandatory but I guess it couldn't hurt.)
2. T-Mobile t989 uvlhi stock ROM(Odin)
You will need some type of zip software to extract the files from this.
3. Follow the steps under Installation - Odin installation(skip step 1)
After you get the stock ROM running you can install custom recovery and then flash your custom ROMs.

You are welcome. You are now unrooted so you have to download the recovery of your choice to the internal SD card and flash it from the stock recovery. After you reboot back into recovery you can flash a ROM and you will be rooted.

That should do it. You won't be rooted until you install a custom ROM though(they come already rooted).

If you download the flashable zip from the first post here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30497342
you should be able to flash it from stock recovery. If it doesn't work I will have to look up how to install it with Odin.

I actually got cwm 5.0.2.7 on my phone through odin. I just need root now to upgrade it to the most recent version.
I've been seeing busybox paired with superuser.
Do i need busybox? Or can i just flash superuser through cwm recovery 5.0.2.7?

Why do you need root? You should be able to just flash the newer cwm zip.
Here is a superuser zip that I used successfully on my t989:

[Rooted][Deodexed][14.2.A.0.290][BETA]

Current status-Thread closed by OP, errors are being fixed.
Here is my stock 14.2.A.0.290 pre-rooted and Deodexed Rom based on my FTF from the general section.
I have NOT tested it (Some of you will be aware that it was birthday yesterday so I just put it on to cook whilst I went out) but it should work.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED, MAKE A BACKUP
Prerequisites
C6903
You must be on any ROM with recovery. If you have already updated to 14.2.A.0.290, then downgrade, root and install recovery. I will not give instructions on that here, there are plenty of guides on how to do it, use google.
Instructions
Download the ROM.zip, the kernel.ftf, and my update to the recovery package
Put the .zip files on your external SD card
Enter recovery, MAKE A BACKUP. ENSURE YOU HAVE EVERYTHING BACKED UP YOU DO NOT WANT TO LOSE. Wipe everything, flash the 14.2.A.0.290-gregbradley-xda-rc.zip. DO NOT REBOOT.
Flash DualRecovery-CMWTouch.zip, DO NOT REBOOT, instead goto advanced and choose power off. If that options is not present, hold power and volume up for 3 seconds until it vibrates 3 times.
Flash the kernel.ftf using flashtool.
The first boot will be a long time
Please report back as to how this goes. I am at work today and cant test myself. If you get a bootloop, restore a backup or flash stock FTF again.

Question about CWM

Hey guys, wondering if somebody could help me. I rooted my galaxy tab 3 8.0 t310 and installed CWM using a guide (that i can't show you because i'm not allowed to post links).
And when I booted in recovery, it was in a funny resolution and looked different. When I pressed to volume buttons to navigate the menu, each time I were to press the button the menu would disappear entirely and then re appear when I pressed it again and moved onto the next selection on the menu.
My question is, is this fine, or should I use TWRP instead? And how would I go about changing? (I'm used to rooting and flashing roms but I've never flashed a new recovery on its own) - there is a download for TWRP on the page.

Go to THIS post.
Scroll to the bottom of the post to where the links for philz_touch_6.00.8 are located. If you want to flash the KitKat builds, then choose philz_touch_6.00.8-t310-blackhawk-next-selinux.zip, if you don't want KitKat, then choose philz_touch_6.00.8-t310-blackhawk-next.zip.
You can flash these zips in your current CWM and then reboot recovery. You will like Philz Touch recovery better than CWM. It is actually based on CWM 6.0.4.5, but has touch interface and more features.

Hi, don't have recovery (everything stock) on my tablet and want to install CM 11. My problem is that don't want to use hamidall software because on windows 8.1 don't work as readme file (i want to do with minimum risk). So my question is: Can I install some other version of recovery via odin and then re-flash with it philz_touch_6.00.8-t310-blackhawk-next.zip recovery. If I can, can you recommend which recovery to use to do that.

Download the utility in THIS thread. It will turn any recovery.img into an Odin flashable tar.md5 file.
Download the correct Philz recovery for your tablet.
Extract the recovery.img from the zip.
Use the utility linked above to make the recovery.img into recovery.tar.md5.
Flash it with Odin. Select it in the PDA slot.
Make sure you uncheck auto-reboot in Odin, hit START; then boot directly to recovery when Odin shows the "RES OK" message.

[Q] cm11 goomanager install twrp but cant replace cwm

As the title said, I just flashed a custom rom into my device ( CM11 kitkat 4.4.2)
Its the first time i root and flash my device
So now, goo manager told me that there is an update available for my device, i follow the instruction of it by downloading it
after that it pop up saying that my device need to have an open script recovery, (I searched youtube, they usually use twrp to update the CM custom ROM), so press yes and it started to download + install
There's a small pop up that saying I have installed twrp on my device, but when i press on reboot into recovery, it shows CWM recovery, even I try reboot into recovery by using ROM Manger.
How do I solve this ?
I just want to install TWRP and uninstall CWM as they said TWRP works better with CM version ?
and one small question, can i delete the zip file that i use to flash the ROM in my external sdcard, and the zip file that i have to use to update after flashing them or updating them ?

Cause you need to reflash your recovery. If you downloaded a zip file boot in CWM and flash the recovery zip file.If you downloadeded .tar.md5 file you need to put your phone into download mode ,open odin on your laptop and flash the recovery file (you need to transfer the .tar.md5 file to your laptop).Well you shouldn't delete your current ROM zip file to be honest you should have atleast have one ROM zip file (with the appropriate add ons needed ) just incase you run into trouble you can always flash the ROM from scratch (incase you don't have a back up of it on your sd card) I always keep one touch wiz ROM and one CM11 ROM zip file along with zip files of philz touch and twrp recovery (i don't do nandroid backups-personal choice) on my sd card.

Thanks you really helped me a lot
sorry for late reply as my replies are limited because im just new to here
By the way, one more question is is there anyway i can flash back to my stock rom but remain rooted?
and what if i want to unroot it
because i found this ROM quite buggy as in the camera app, i am a person that will take picture everyday, panaroma is quite important to me
i found this camera is very very very poor haha
furthermore, whenever in a skype call, i will hear nothing if i plugged in my earphone o.o
so i will probably flash back to stock rom but remain rooted is case of flashing other more stable rom

Before flashing a Rom & if i'm in recovery, will my internal memory be shown in PC when i connect yureka via data cable?(should i copy CM 12.x Rom to internal memory before flashing this zip? )
-Sorry for asking so many qt's all at once... But would appreciate if u can answer all of my queries to get rid of my worries
works like a charm, first boot on blisspop was really smooth, no lag and glitches like stock cm12....got blank screen when i tried to get into recovery(which was obvious) but from second boot, i was stuck on the YU boot logo....It was because of the 32bit recovery...flashed 64-bit CWM through fast boot and again i successfully booted
PS- It doesnt wipe your sdcard

Any 64 bit recovery will work. In my openion I recoment TWRP recovery. It is a touch recovery and has many options like file manager, backup compression etc.
Sorry for the late reply my school reopened so I didn't get any time to read this thread....
Anyway I am going to make an another zip file for flashing recovery within 2 days. Both 64 bit and 32bit....
Both TWRP and CWM.

So.... It does not wipe your SDCARD when following this method. Its safe. Only thing you have to do is flash 64 bit recovery.
Any way data backup is highly recommended. We ate playing with firmware know? Any thing can happen!

It actually has some of modem files, 64 bit partition details, fastboot(BIOS) for 64bit. You can go ahead and exact the zip file and read the script inside it. It does not have a 64bit recovery so you wold have to flash a recovery of your choice with fastboot. I hope you got your doubts cleared. If you have any further doubts feel free to reply:good:. i am planning to merge recovery flasher into this zip stay tuned!
Make a 64bit to 32 bit file also

Yes you can. If the ROMs rooted already then you can use the app Flashify to flash the recovery (I guess your phones booting up)
If not you do NEED a pc

SO... DO we want to flash stock lollipop and then flash custom roms... It is abselutely not needed now.
If you are somone on L trying to go to KK here is the thread for you http://forum.xda-developers.com/yureka/general/cyanogen-12-lollipop-to-cyanogen-11-t3096587
So straight to steps....
1) You have to download https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4etFrzyEA01UDlvVUpNaHJVTjQ&authuser=0
2) You have to flash that zip with a custom recovery. Explaned below
3) Flash any 64bit ROMs you like....
How to flash zip
Copy the file form PC to Yu Yureka(If you have downloaded it with PC)
Reboot into recovery ( For easy reboot into recovery you have to enable advanced reboot in developer options )
Select Install Zip file
Select install for SDcard
Browse to the folder you have put it.
Install it.
And Vola!
SO... No Tension, No large number of steps, No waiting. Flash this zip and you are good to go...
So... Guys as usual Hit Thanks if you fond this post useful....
