Hi guys I'm new to the forum as yall can prolly tell. I've seen a lot of great info on here and I've got a few questions myself. I did do a search with what I put in the subject of this thread and it only came up with one thread. Now onto the goods.
I have a sprint galaxy note 2 with android 4.1.2 Build number JZO54K.L900VPAMC2,.kernel version [email protected]#1 SMP PREEMPT Wed march 27, Hardware versionl900.09, baseband version l900VPAMC2.
Now my question is (or one of them lol) will that build number work with the root toolkit? I did see sprint has the 4.1.1 and 4.1.2 but neither of those android versions have the build # I have on my phone. Ive been trying to read a lot before I go rooting my phone and couldn't find anything on this. I also did notice that it has an option for if you didn't see your build number (or something like that). I need to know if this tool kit would work and what options will I have to choose when using it? Do I use the option that says my build # is not shown? I can follow directions and am no dummy but am a newb when it comes to computer talk language. So please someone break it down for me. Thank you all very much

What options did you use on the tool kit? Was it the version 4.1.2 or the 4.1.1? Ive read somewhere that they had to use the 4.1.1 version to be able to root their phone. Could you twll me which options you choose in the toolkit if its not too much trounle? I dont want tk brick my baby. I swear my gf thinks I love my phkne more than her haha. Like theres no question about that....of course I do hehe I kid
Tool kit V4.1.0, I use option #92, it says Android 4.1.2 [Build AMA7] this is the one I use and never have any problems

Hi
I have search the forum for this and google. I am a bit stumped
I have attached 2 images, one a screenshot of my Note 2 device info and the other of the Samsung Galaxy note 2 toolkit 2.3.1 (donation activated).
Basically Im confused on what my phone is. According to the device info its a GT-N7100 Build N7100XXALIJ but the baseband is N7100XXALIH
When I look on the toolkit to chose what my phone model and build are it says that the N7100XXALIJ build is model GT-N7100.
I am assuming that as I am on o2 UK that I am a GSM model and not a LTE but what option should I select.
Im not currently interested in stock roms, I do plan later to but I am worried about my flash counter, I am primarily looking just for root.
I thank you for reading this.
all of the version, baseband, etc... shows begin with "7100"
why would u ever doubt yr phone is 7105?
because in the device info it says model n7100
also I didnt think o2 woukd be lte ?

First i`am not a moderator, second if you have 3 confirmations that you have a N7100 it is stupid to ask any further. You think it is a N7105 in disguise?

I don't understand where the confusion is coming from. All signs point to you having an n7100. No where in your screenshots is there any indication that it could be an n7105.
That is why people are getting annoyed.
So to answer your question in case you are still unsure, and you have an n7100. Don't flash anything for the n7105

Okay. I see what the OP was trying to get at. His N7100 had the LIJ build installed and was trying to use his phone with the Note II toolkit. And when the toolkit asked him what phone and build he was using, the option for an N7100 with LIJ wasn't there. However, the option for an N7105 with LIJ was there.... hense, confusion.
So, for future reference OP, if another device has a build of Android with the same number as yours, that doesn't mean it's the same build as yours or that you actually have that device instead of what you originally thought you had. You do in fact have an N7100 with LIJ. Welcome to the Android community and sorry for the "FAIL". Enjoy your Note II!

Hi I am a long time user and developer for windows mobile devices (WM5/WM6), and have switched over to android for many years now... but just now am having the time to explore cooking with android, using ADK, rooting androids, etc... So i thought id wait on doing anything serious with my SIII and note2, and for now im working on my epic touch 4g.... I have most of all the software i need for windows and for the actual process of flashing, rooting, cooking, etc, but I CANNOT FIND THE CORRECT FILES TO USE IN ODIN TO ROOT MY DEVICE. AND I AM NOT SURE THE BEST WAY TO TELL WHICH VERSIONS OF RADIOS/ROMS/KERNELS/BL'S ARE INTERCHANGEABLE AS WELL.... BELOW IS A LIST OF ALL OF MY DEVICES HW/FW VERSIONS FOR REFERECE... (RUNNING ICS 4.0.4). COULD SOMEONE WITH MORE ANDROID EXPERIENCE PLEASE CHIME IN AND LET ME KNOW WHICH FILES I NEED TO USE IN ODIN TO ROOT THIS EPIC TOUGH 4G FOR ICS 4.0.4? id appreciate any help bc im anxious to check out some roms and start on cooking a few myself... thanks.

SMP PREEMPT Thu Sep 27 18:24:35 KST 2012
Build Number - IMM76I.FI27

(btw i have tried two files so far but once they were flashed it gave me the yellow triangle and displayed as a gti900 model, and never went past splash screen... although the forum suggested they would work
I realize this seems elementary (especially being that I was quite proficient when I used to build WM roms, but android is a different animal and I want to start off right since i plan to start cooking again.... Sorry if this is silly to some, but it wouls really help me out... thanks
thank you all for any advice to help me get goin on this again, i miss doin this!!!

You might wanna ask a mod to move this to the Q&A section before the ib4tl folks start in on ya...
Yea, like posted above you can use a full restore rooted odin or one_click to get root. Assuming you didn't bone the phone with the files you tried.

Purchased an unlocked international N7100 GT-N7100 running 4.1.1 JellyBean last Nov. from Newegg. When I got to the States I installed a t-Mobile SIM card at which point I noted Settings showed Baseband ver. N7100UBALJ1; Kernel ver. SMP PREEMPT Tue Oct 2...KST 2012.
Tried rooting (w/out success*) several+ times this morning using ExynosAbuse-v1.40.apk.
Right now Settings shows JB 4.1.2; Baseband ver. N7100UBDLL3; Kernel ver. 3.0.3l-749832 [email protected]#1, SMP PREEMPT Wed Dec 26...; Build JZO54K.N7100UBDLL3.
Not sure if the change is due to my failures w/Exynos today or if Samsung snuck in an update last Dec b/4 I got that option turned off. Actually, I'm thinking a phone purchased unlocked probably doesn't have the same software as one purchased from a specific carrier/vendor so I'm not even sure I'm in the right forum!
Just want is to get this damn thing rooted but I'm so confused and frustrated...sleepless...at this point from searching, reading, comparing, etc. the different threads that I'm afraid I'm going to make an unforgivable blunder. Know myself well enough that I won't give up until it's either rooted or bricked and I'll be stuck w/a disposable phone or one of my daughter's ancient castoffs.
Would someone tell where I should go from here? Also, does Chainfire's new ver. 4.805 change what one should be doing now? i.e., easiest/safest way to go?
*Also tried unsuccessfully to post in Simplelife's "Root T889..." thread, but seems the rules have changed since last I visited.

because you have the International version it is different from the T-mobile's T889 version. I would recommend getting the Note II all in one toolkit. It will help you root/flash/backup your phone with ease.... just make sure when you're flashing anything to your phone you're using files for the INTERNATIONAL version not T-MOBILE

Appears to me Andromizer backs up most everything, but that it requires Root and Busybox.
I did find reference to Simple ADB Backup (Holo Backup) in Troutman's Let's Talk About ADB frontpage post of January 21st that doesn't require root but it cautions against backing up system apps. I haven't yet discovered the difference between what Holo terms 'system apps' and 'device data' (safe to backup). I am assuming that imei/efs/nv are system. Could some clue me in?

Hello,
I tried looking thru the forum to find my answer but I couldn't find anything regarding rooting my Galaxy Note 2 build JZ054K.I317UCAMC3
So when I run the Galaxy Note2 Toolkit V4.1.0
I get to the part that ask you to find your device build and carrier I get only 2 options under the AT&T Carrier.
51. Android 4.1.1 Build ALJ2
52. Android 4.1.2 Build ALK7
Which one do I select since they don't match my build?
Here are the details to my phone.
Samsung Galaxy note 2
Model: SGH-I317
Android Version: 4.1.2
Build:JZ054K.I317UCAMC3
Hope someone has encountered this problem and can answer my question.

This was my second time rooting and installing a ROM on my phone. Whatever I had used originally seemed a bit buggy so I went back to stock. However, this time I wanted to try PACMAN and after installing it I found that I couldn't send picture messages and I no longer had access to 4G data speeds. I didn't know what to do, searched the web for a few days looking for ideas and saw some people saying that maybe I should change my ROM, so I did. I tried Cyanogen Mod 10.1 (I think) and then LiquidSmooth 2.9 (where I am now). None of the changes made anything work. So, now I've seen someone talk about radios, I don't quite understand what they are saying but from what I've gathered there could be a different radio for me to download. If that's the case, I'm not sure how to do it. Also, I was told to try and put the stock software back on the phone and I can't figure out how to do that again either. I probably dug a little too deep being such a noob but I wanted to learn. If anybody could help I'd be greatly appreciative.
Also, if there is any other information you need please let me know. I just copied everything I could find under "About Phone"
Take out battery and reply with the model number of the phone.
