Reign of Amira? - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

The game, made specifically for snapdragon processors, isn't available on this device?!
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app

Could be of isn't compatible for 4.3 yet or that it requires an S4 600. While we have krait3 cores similar to a 600, it is downclocked.
Really shouldnt matter either way since I'm sure it will work, but the app either doesn't recognize our new device or, again, a 4.3 blip.
Write the Dev and ask for an update.

It works just fine on the new Nexus 7. I have a Droid DNA so I installed it on that then backed up the app and installed it on the Nexus. Here is a link to the apk. Should not be an issue with linking to it since it is a free app.

Sorry it worked for me. I even installed it on my DNA again from dropbox. I starts downloads 90+ megabytes then loads the game. Also the DNA does not have a Snapdragon 600 processor (S4 Pro) but you can install the game from the Playstore on it.

CM 7 for Galaxy Nexus?

I don't know if it may be possible... but is there a way to have a cm7 running on the gn cdma? I'm pretty sure there's not. But maybe there's a small chance there is a way to get it running...I just want to know if there's a cm7 that can run off this phone. I have cm9 nightly running but I want to use gingerbread. .too? Any ideas, thoughts, or a definite answer? Than in advance

Why would you want that..?! Millions of android users are never going to even see what we've got since yesterday (4.0.4) and you want to go back to gingerbread?
heh I wanted to run 1.0 on my nexus one...
Most likely NO. I cant imagine any developer (unless you want to take a crack at it yourself) that would want to waste their time on trying to make "MS Dos 3.1" run on a Windows 8 device
No. And seriously.... wtf?
Wow...! This is what they call evolution? I can exchange my nexus one for your gnex... Lots of gingerbread rooms!

I just thought it be pretty cool to run cm 7 on the gn...just to have it stable and it being faster I guess.....nit saying going back in evolution and or technology...maybe just for cm7 to run faster off the gn..I had it on my nexus one and nexus s...

Faster as in ics needs a certain amount of memory for it to run properly. But I'm guessing cm7 don't need allll the memory available on gn therefore it would run much faster....just like a windows 7 computer having g now like 8gb of ram available and new processors....and if u install windows xp it will run very smooth and super fast..since that system never saw 8gb of ram in the past on a regular desktop....that's what I meant...but yeah it will never happen anyways

It has nothing to do with the ram.
Or maybe even symbian! From the 5110 with the original snake.... ya, THAT would be fast!!!
It won't necessarily run smoother as it wouldn't be optimised for running on the GN. Also gingerbread lacks hardware acceleration so that would make things ever so slightly laggier and not to mention possible bugs.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
There is not (that I am aware of) any device that would run smooth at 720p on Gingerbread unless the OEM added a hardware accelerated UI (for example, the Note).

Just because you may not like an idea doesn't mean that everybody else has to feel the same way. If you're not interested in helping then feel free to ignore the thread, but do NOT reply just to give some smartass answer or harass others.
I think everyone here has been pretty lighthearted with each other so far but this is getting real old real quick.
OP instead of making comments and making fun of your curiosities I will simply explain:
There are no driver binaries for G Nex hardware that work on Gingerbread, and that's the main reason this won't work. Just like you couldn't really build Froyo for the Nexus S. The hardware drivers are typically coded to work with specific versions of Android.

I wonder if it's possible to force the app to run in "tablet" mode (eg iPad mode) rather than smartphone mode? Given the 720p resolution of the One X, I'd love to see tablet mode on it.

I was thinking this. But I doubt it, as that version was made for the iPad only, so dont think it was ported to Android through the S3.
BUT.... if they make a version for android tablets, then i'm sure someone could port it to work with our HOX.
That would be sweet.

the app is installed to sd by default. move to internal memory and the widget works.
also if you have problems with flipping pages back, disable forced gpu rendering and it'll work fine.
After installing the new update don't forget to force close the app and start again otherwise pictures won't show in some cases

Multi boot options

I wish we can have multi boot options. There are just too many good Roms and restoring nandroid backup takes too long. What do you guys think about developing dual boot option for our Nexus? I wish devs take a look at this concept.

I imagine it runs well on the galaxy nexus due to the roms running off of the virtual sdcard which is really the internal storage. Is this correct?

From the accounts I've read, BootManager only works for ICS and previous on the gnex..
I am entertaining some options to multiboot this device. Might have already been done, but we got ubuntu one preview, android (of course [particularly jellybean & beyond] multi versions [MIUI, CyanogenMod, etc]), Open WebOS, possibly futures like B2G or Firefox OS & Tizen on the horizon..
and other devices multi-booting (Nexus 7 does).. so I think I might can throw something together possibly.

"Update: This beta is not a usable build. Its similar to the Developer Preview i.e full of placeholder information. The only noticeable difference is that it seems to be a lot faster. Overall a very disappointing update for Ubuntu Touch."
Hells yeah, can't wait for voice and data to work.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Yeah, it'll be so awesome to be on a platform without apps again, like Android in 2009!
Shouldn't have been labeled a Beta if not even the core apps have been finished yet.
From what the article says, this is just a faster running alpha build.
But what can you expect from Ubuntu these days... ever since they tried more & more to emulate Macs, the OS has seriously gone down the drain.
will it open source?

I agree 100%. A beta gives you all the core functionality without the stability and smoothness of the final product. Not software that can only be 'previewed' on the devices that it was intended for

Windows 8 port?

This is probably really dumb question, but will this ever happen for the nexus 7 (2013)?? I know windows 8 supports arm processors, not sure if the s400 pro is "arm". This would be awesome to use with multiRom. Of anyone knows if this isn't possible, could you please explain thoroughly??

what S400 , Nexus 7 is underclocked S600 .. anyway all snapdragon's from qualcomm are based on ARM architecture , just not based of their reference Cortex AX cores .
