Is it possible to download the weather data over a Wifi connection? At work, I am in a roaming area and would really like to be able to download the weather without getting nailed for data roaming!

Im on a a VZW TP2 with stock 6.1
when WiFi is on and connected, Visual Voicemail errors out saying "no network connection, cant connect to the voicemail server", even though 3G Data Connection is also turned on at the same time in Comm Mgr.
Im assuming VVM is trying to connect to the server through the unauthenticated WiFi connection, instead of the preferred 3G Data Connection. Is there any way to force VVM to use the 3G Data connection and ignore the WiFi?
Or, it may just be a Verizon thing...is anyone having this problem on other carriers?
Having problems with my turning my phone into wifi hotspot (have uk orange htc desire hd chocolate). Turn on the portable wifi hostspot ok, my laptop and my archos 70i tab can both find and connect to it ok, BUT it dont work - on the laptop it just says local connection only - on the archos just wont connect to internet. most frustrating. also some problems with the data connection - phone shows the h or g icon and the arrows, but not connection when try browser etc usually works after a restart, but who wants to have to restart the phone every time you wanna use the data connection?
Any thoughts/suggestions?

I ran into the same problem yesterday. I was testing if the wifi hotspot functionality worked, to use my phone for wifi tethering. As soon as I turn on the function, my data connection (3G) is disabled.
Doe anybody know how to keep the data connection after activating the wifi hotspot function?

I was wondering if you are with orange? or are in the uk? Maybe it is something the carrier does not allow! will call orange today.

I have a rooted Samsung gts5830 - android 2.3.3 setup as a access point and it is connected to a 3g network by a data connection. I want to use a Samsung pocket (gts5300)-android 2.3.6 to make sip calls by connecting by wifi to the gts 5830 and then to the 3g network. I can make sip calls with the gts5830 but fail to get a registration with the gts5300 over wifi. What is the reason and how can I achieve my goal ? Any help will be appreciated
Maybe a few months too late, but is it clear YOU cant use internet when you are hosting a wifi spot? That's what I understand from your text

guys i need some help regarding my galaxy note 2. after updating my rom to omega 10 suddenly my internet connection using 3g has always been cut even though the icon is present that im currently connected to my data network. my applications like facebook, google doesnt recognize that there is a data connection. does anyone among you have encountered this kind of error? or its just my network provider?
