06 Apr 2014: I won't add any further tester or testing requests for apps as obviously this does not work anymore. Not closing the thread now, hoping for ideas how to make this idea of free app testing for devs working again.
26 Mar 2014: Do we need another thread cleaning? Discuss!
12 Jan 2014: All XDA internal links of the first two posts should be encrypted now (We want HTTPS on XDA!).
24 Oct 2013: Right now there are only two apps in the testing queue. Developers, you can send us more apps for testing!
12 Oct 2013: Removed former testers in two new posts which are linked down below.
09 Oct 2013: Only a few people would be still available at the moment. I'll close this cut procedure in the next few days. Everybody who still is available as a tester, please post in thread or write PM. Thanks.
25 Sep 2013: I make a cut. Read more about this plan.
28 Jul 2013: I added a list with the prior testers. If you want to be removed from this list, just let me know. Check it out it's down below and fortunately almost empty.

Thanks to our prior testers: post #1, post #2
Hello developers,
this is a index about XDA members, who wants to test your apps, especially alpha or beta versions. Post your request in the thread, description below. You also can join the XDA Android App Testers (started by @antzvill).
Also the XDA community offers following free services: App Translators Index, List of themers and designers as well as Community help with marketing.
Users: Developers need you. Send me a PM and I will add you to this index. Thank you!
1. Send me a PM with your device(s) on which you want to test apps. Name it as exactly as possible (e.g. Samsung Galaxy GT-I9250 GSM Maguro)
2. Verify my entry and subscribe to the thread to get the latest news and app test requests.
3. If there is a request for testing an app, do so. If you find new apps, you can also post it into this thread. Please report to the app developers thread and let him know you like the development by saying thank you, hit their THANKS button and/or donate or buy the paid version of the app.
Also, if the app already is on Google Play, don't rate it negative or one star or so. If you have problems, contact the developer(s), if everything is fine, you can rate several stars. Be fair, cause as you know, this is still in development.
Developers: You need app testers
1. Post a little description incl. your wish where to focus testing (maybe a special function or on selected devices eg tablets) of your app and the link to your XDA thread. Be sure you have an active XDA thread, which can be listed in the App Testing Collection (take a look down below).
2. Thread subscribers can see your app test request quickly, test your app and report to your thread. Developers, due to I saw this several times, be fair and do not click THANKS buttons only for positive response. This is contra productive.
3. On this point, after the tests, please be kind and write something in this thread like "well done, we created the perfect app"
App testing can be dangerous. Protect your device!
Some apps we are testing here could contain malicious code. Most of the apps might be cool, but be careful with those other apps. Apps from Google Play should be safer to use, but there is no guarantee. And app installation with apk files on our smartphones/tablets or exe files on our desktops/notebooks... you'll never know.
We can test the apps before we install them.
Virustotal
Upload your suspicious files up to 32 MB and let Virustotal test it with more than 40 virus scanners.
Anubis: Analyzing Unknown Binaries
Upload your suspicious files up to 8 MB, Windows files or even Android apk files.
Comodo Instant Malware Analysis
Upload your suspicious executable files to run them in a online virtual environment.
It is also good to use a virus scanner app for Android. You'll find plenty of antivirus on Google Play.

As you can see, this is the Android general section. so most users are still kinda new to Android or not really that proficient yet. So, my suggestion is that why not make the threads at the section of the device that you wanted to support?

I was asking a forum moderator before starting this thread. He said, I should use this forum for this thread - that's how I did it.
Some developers don't really care if the app is for device x or y, should work on all devices. And that's the point to make one big list of users, accessible for all developers. Well, we'll see, if this works. Hopefully it does, cause I want to get new software, even betas

As you can see, its has already been two days. my personal suggestion is that you try to find some users and developers(new developers would be better in general) on your own and get them to test the app and put a link back to here so that you can gain more publicity

Does anybody know if there is a difference or what the difference between "Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch" and "Samsung Galaxy S2 (SGH-T989)" is?

Love the idea.. Count me in
I currently have Galaxy Note, Galaxy W & Galaxy Tab (P1000)
As android developer I know it's hard to fix bugs that only occurred on specific device and you don't have that device.
And most personal products won't have vary testing devices.
I think this thread can be the place where people that love to be beta testers help xda developers, and xda developers help each other on testing. So application released will have higher quality. Less time on bugs, more time for new features.

I think this thread is a great idea.
Thanks to xda my device is still alive. having a basic knowledge of how computers and programs work and what time creating software can consume, i am thankful for what the devs at xda do.
I think, giving the devs an easy way to test their software, is a good way for those of us who want to thank the devs, but can't afford to donate to all of them.
I see a lot of potential in this topic. Maybe someday xda will even have an official organized pool of testers, who knows.
Besides testers per device, i would suggest a list for people, who want to help translating.
At the moment, i have close to no internet access at all, but i'm following this thread and as soon as my situation changes, i plan on contacting you, so i can be added to the list.

jimmod, if you have new apps, please post your test request into this thread.
Broken303, the translating thread would be the next level after this app testing thread, good idea.
Thank you, hope to hear from you soon.

Me brainless, forgot: The translating thread, which is a pretty good idea for bringing the apps to all users... go for it :good:
Open a thread. I have not the time to control and keep up a next one, but I will offer you help, if needed and welcome. This two threads would be very welcome for the devs new apps, I guess.
Hope you read this reply
Howdy all! I been running Chameleon OS on my Galaxy Nexus and my One S for a long time now and have yet to see a thread for it here, maybe the ChaOS team needs a maintainer for it? It is a great AOSP ROM with MIUI like theme enigine, really neat. Maybe someone with skills a little beyond porting can contact them and see about taking over for the Galaxy Nexus and get it posted? I think you all will really like this ROM it is still very young but they have true nightly's so it gets better and better every day! :good: (I hope it is ok I posted this here, if not oh well this ROM needs more love!)

No I'm not blind that isn't an official development thread that is just someone posting like me, I wasn't looking for that.
I may have jumped the gun but I was simply saying when I had spoke to them they said they need a maintainer for XDA.
