I have an issue with the Dash (t-mobile). I have open access to the internet with a D-Link router and I cannot connect to the internet. I have checked all the settings and everything seem right. I can connect to the net, but I cannot access any websites.
The error I am getting is "page cannot be found. Check the name and try again"
Is there something I am doing wrong?
I am using Kavana ROM and I have open access to internet.
Are you trying to connect through wireless with IE?
If so make sure the options/connections are set up to use the correct network on your phone.
You may have to reflash. One thing I learned some times data wont work at all and sometimes it works flawlessly after a flash. Thats the first thing I check after a flash is the data, if it does not work reflash until it does. There might be an easier way, but thats just the way I do it.
Ive got a genuine 3 UK (unbranded) desire and been using it for over a year.
Recently they released a small software update (2.29.405.5). I couldn't install this as not enough space so i thought id do a factory reset to get space, clean up and go from scratch.
Not a problem except after that reset my WiFi has stopped working completely.
It turns on, it shows as on, it scans and it shows WLANs around. However no matter what lan you select the second you enter a key without even trying to connect it says "Unable to connect to the network".
If i try to manually add a network i get "Unable to save the network".
It doesnt even seem to attempt to connect, just errors immediately. It's not a key issue as entering any key either correct or incorrect immediately produces the above error.
After a factory reset failed to get it working i rooted the phone to delete/edit the wpa_supplicant.conf file. This didn't solve the problem.
As a last resort i downloaded the latest RUU, flashed but again this hasn't fixed the problem.
So, does anyone know whats broken or how i can fix this or is it a return on the phone?
Everything else would appear to work perfectly but it just refuses to save any details of wlans or connect to them. It all worked fine before a factory reset!
I have a little problem, i say little because it doesn't cause my wifi to malfunction, it just doesn't connect to any remembered wifi network when i turn it on... I turn on wifi via notification bar... When it doesn't connect i just enter menu/Wireless&Networks/Wifi settings, and as soon as i enter that, it starts connecting to network.
I tested it on my own network, and few more. It is not because of rooter, or something like that.
I use CM7.2 latest nightly(14 jan), i have app2sd installed, but it worked before with such setup.
What i did is, forget the network, then connect to it again(by typing a password), but it happens again from while to while...
It's not that big problem, but i like when everything works as it should be, it's why it is there...
I have also messed with some unsigned themes, made by myself... But i think that can't eb causing the problem since i restored nand backup after doing it ... And i installed fully signed working ones now ...
refresh.....
the files that i messed with in theme somehow caused this, and i fixed it by just forgeting all the networks, then again connecting to them via password ...
I flashed a new ROM, and when I found I didn't like it (phone froze very often) I restored the nandroid backup I had taken. When I booted up again, wifi didn't work. When I press the toggle it turns to on, but gray. Doesn't start to search for wifi networks.
I googled around for a bit and found that I should rename my "wpa_supplicant.conf" in root/data/misc/wifi. I renamed it to "temporary backup" so that I wouldn't lose it, and didn't set a file type so I know the phone shouldn't recognize it as the wpa_supplicant.conf. I was also told that after a reboot would generate a new wpa_supplicant.conf, and yet after 2 reboots I still don't have a new one and wifi still doesn't work.
This makes me suspect that the error happens before it looks for wpa_supplicant.conf, but I don't know how to troubleshoot any longer. I don't know what information is relevant, so I'll post it as a reply and in the main post as fast as you ask.
Thanks beforehand!
Hey guys just fot this tablet Monday, unrooted fresh out the box, it will download apps for a bit them get hung up and stop downloading and eventually show this error. Ive googled it and tried all the tricks that include clearing data im gp app/gp services/ framework. Unlinked my google account, rebooted etc.
2 strange things i noticed.
- my htc m8 on the same nerwork has never had these issues
-I haven't had this happen at my work network
I returned my tab S from Monday, now the new one does it too. I have a brand new Asus RT-AC68U beast of a wifi router. It briefly downloaded some apps once i took down the firewall, then errored out again...
I dunno what else to do i want to keep this tablet I hope someone can help.
Thanks in advance!
perhaps this workaround can help you:
on your pc you can install the chrome browser extension APK Downloader , then when you go to play store, you have an extra button download apk next to the app (all on pc in chrome browser) , once you downloaded the apk you can copy it to the tablet and install it.
Make sure that once you have copied the apk to your device you have enabled "unknown sources" in the settings or else it won't allow you to manually install an apk.
Whenever I have encountered an issue like this in the past I have Odin flashed the device to the latest stock firmware and then during the set up process, made sure that every minute detail entered is correct (or bypass google account installation and wifi connection and install them after the device start up).
Hmm thanks for the suggestions guys. Come to find out my m8 has this issue now so it must be router related somehow...
I too took down firewall of router, saved new settings, rebooted router, turned router off for 5 mins, turned it back on. Restarted lg g3 and then it worked for me. No more Error 495!
