[Q] Which is the most stable ROM - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Hi, my name is Daniel and I need to know which is the most stable ROM for this phone. I'm currently running JellyBeer and I'm very happy with how it acts and its stability but I have problems with the GPS in it. Unfortunately, I use GPS a lot so what would you guys recommend. Also, sorry to ask but what would be the best kernel for the ROM? Thank you!
BTW: the problem I have with GPS is that it keeps saying searching for satellite but never finds it for a good amount of time.

Thank you so much for the help. I had actually installed JMT 6 and I got a boot loop so I uninstalled that. Do you know by any chance if GPS works on AOKP?

Thanks for that one, I'm going to try that out for sure.

Ok, so I decided after little thought to try out the AOKP listed in the link above first. What would be the best kernel for this ROM. Sorry for the noobishness guys, I just want the best out of the phone and I don't know what the best kernel is for this.

I apologize again for the noobishness guys but I need help please. I flashed AOKP and whenever I take a pic, it turns the phone off I think. I had this problem on other rooms but they sort of fixed themselves. Any ideas?

For Canadian T989D users, NorthernTouch is a great augmentation of the stock JB firmware released a couple months ago. For whatever reason all T989 based ROMs had an issue with voice quality, which is a big deal for me because I still use my phone as a phone quite often. Thought I'd give that a shout, since I can't post to their dev page on xda yet... grumble grumble

Blackliquid works very well for me. GPS works, camera works, a very smooth and stable ROM.

As for the kernel try out the UBER kernel. Plays very well with the ROM

I am guessing it is this is the GPS patch:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1447599
I used it before, does make the GPS lock on faster...

Most stable = best, which can only be determined by the individual user.

Is it worth switching to JB from ICS yet?

I've been on CM9 RC1 for a while, but I want to switch to the CM10 kang; I'm worried that it'll suffer in battery life and stability though. Should I just wait for official or is it worth using as a daily now?

Agreed, also, CM9 is now up to RC2
All of my phones are running stock...
Epic - FC09 debloated
GS3 - LG2 debloated
GNex - 4.1.1 AOSP build
IMO, just keep the epic on stock or a stock based ROM... even though it is outdated, it runs best on the hardware.

I'd reply in the development forum, but xda-developers hate their users and I can't...
The main problem with the kang CM10 rom right now is the same problem they fixed in CM9, found here: epiccm.blogspot.com/2012/01/cm9-longterm-testing-is-showing-android.html (again, if xda-developers didn't hate their users, I could post a link).
If you can find a way to not use any RAM, its great! Once you open 2 or more apps, the system chugs for ~5 minutes each time you need a bit more RAM.
No. They just don't want any idiot or spammer posting in development. You need 10 contributing posts.

As others have said, I would wait. I tried the CM10 kang from the other day (not paranoid android version) and it just didn't feel "complete," likely because it isn't. Oddly enough I figured while I was wiping I would go back to TPR and am now enjoying superb battery life that I forgot I ever had while using ICS.

If you have to ask, probably not. It lacks a lot of polish and should only be used a step between proof of concept and daily driver. Or just to show off to others.
In my experience jellybean seems really smooth. But I was on aokp m6 previously so I was happy to be back on a cm build.

This is just my opinion.... But CM9 RC2....is by far the best yet.. And i mean that because it is flawlessly, no bugs whatsoever or fc... Just a little fyi... I always Odin back to stock before I flash anything... And RC2 is snappy, stable, and has great battery life...... I can wait for jb

Note quite "flawless" I'd say... there's still the camera focus problem, bluetooth problem, etc.
RC2 bugs follow.
Auto flash only works if you toggle flash on/auto after each reboot, no LED for video, video MMS messages do not work, slideshows for MMS do not work, Bluetooth will not connect or end calls with screen off and will often disconnect/reconnect at random times, WiFi sleeps regardless of set policy.
Everything else works fine.

I really can't talk for anybody else.... But i have no focus problem on my camera or blue tooth........... Like I said before... I always Odin back to stock and then reroot and then install the latest update of the rom I like...... And CM9 RC2 has been great with me.... I am not saying that using Odin to go back to stock and re flashing will fix all the problems..... But i don't have any complaints...

Bottom line, there are still some bugs... not huge ones, but the rom isn't 100% yet.... just sayin
I will agree with that.... The rom is not %100...... My point was that in my opinion.. This is rom is the most stable as of now...... And i have tried them all.... The water I look at it.... The build of a rom I can be as snappy or as fastest.... But for me stability is counts more.... What's the point of having a fast ui if it keeps fc on you..... You get my drift?

Which of them is best is matter of preference. Each person will appreciate something different about any ROM, so the best advice is try all of them and pick which is best for you. At present they are all based on Arco's CM9, and I prefer that.

Oh, okay.. I prefer to choose a ROM that's not much of bugs, could you suggest me which ROM?
Because when I read each of ICS ROM thread comment's it's confusing me to choose which is almost stable ROM because of the bugs
By the way thanks for answering
wrong section dude! you should ask in general section. not in development. btw, all others ICS rom will be updated according to arco cm9
I would pick CM9, its since the others just use CM9 as a base while the others are great I find using the pure CM9 much better.
No bugs? Go back to gingerbread. No ICS can give you that yet. Please do know that ICS development for Galaxy Wonder is still on alpha stage. And also post appropriately. This is development section.
Sorry I'm new on creating thread
And I don't mean with no bug, I said with not plenty of bugs
Okay thanks for the answers guys, just asking, sorry for posting in a wrong section

yeah. pure CM9 is better. I have once tried Paranoid, it was pretty good too. it is more customizable than pure CM9 (I think you knew it). Im currently using CM9 build 6 which is pretty stable. the other ROM are based on CM9 build 5 anyway. so, you know the rule, build 6 is better than build 5 (literally), but in some case, it upside down. just flash any ROM. you will find your own answer.

which one is the most stable ICS or Jellybean ROM?

I finally had enough of the stock rom and would like to try a custom rom. CM9 or CM10 based. However, looks like MURI has this video playing bug and the other one has the wifi issue.
For me, most important things are :
1, wifi,
2, camera/camcorder
3, battery
4, video
so, any recommendation? what is the most stable, bug-free rom?
Thanks,
Well first off this should be in Q&A....
Dkstunnas cm9 has it all
Sent from my answering machine
I just got out of dk's cm9 because the camera works sometimes and doesent some other times so i went back to ViperInc even though it has a strange performance issue and now overclocking
Evervolv is as smooth as it gets but its a work in progress, the camera doesn't work at all yet and bluetooth is also not working. You have to add the ssid manually in order to use wifi but it's smooth as butter.
Wow, now not only has the Q&A section merged with the general section, it has merged with the Dev section as well. Pretty soon, the incredible 2 forums will be nothing but a mosh pit of questions.
Results vary. Try and see.

To the OP. Just go for ViperINC 1.2.0 or better.
Make sure you wipe about 5 times and remove all traces of any previous ROMs (including hidden folders on your SDcard.
Camera issues = ZERO once you open the camera and uncheck "Face Detection" under camera settings.
Beef it up a bit with V6 SuperCharger
VERY zippy ROM with no lag now.
Your mileage may vary, but for me.... it is the BEST Rom for the Dinc2 period.
I'm gonna recommend miui. It has fixed video playing bug. So zero bugs I think. Amazing camera.

I ran CM10 for a long time. I think Pacman rom is at least as stable as CM10, and I don't get the multi-boot problem I always had on CM10. I love having the AOKP tweaks and the CM10 power widgets. It's worth a flash.

CM10 Stable or Nightly

I am currently running the 2012-11-13 CM10.0.0 "Stable". What are your thoughts on if I should flash the latest nightly?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
I thought about trying that. I wanted to try it because I don't want to deal with anymore bugs or problems than I have to. How is it working for you? Are you just getting bored and wanting to try something else? I did AOKP by Task and as often as that is updated I wanted to go to something that I didn't have to flash and rearrange so often.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
You really don't 't have to flash that often. If you find one that catches your fancy, grab it and flash away. If it causes problems, revert back/if you like it keep it.
I just flashed the cm10.1 & other than the bluetooth issue it is pretty good & I will most likely stick with it till it is fixed. Before that I was on the cm10.12/16 build as I was reasonably happy with it.

I'm liking the stable version. I thought about going to the nightly builds but until all the wrinkles are out i'll stick with what I have.
I prefer sticking to the Stable version. The Nightly literally change every night, so unless you're tolerable of all the changes and the bugs, don't take the jump.

A2DP is broken. Streaming audio sounds like crap.
If you aren't too worried about the Bluetooth weirdness, which is pretty unpredictable, then CM10.1 nightlies work pretty well now that they've fixed the data issues the first few builds had. in thinking about going back since its one of the only ROMs with a somewhat reliable 4.2.1 experience at this point, but I like the customization in ParanoidKANGdroid too much

Thanks to everyone who gave their input. Much appreciated.
I am going to wait on CM10.1 and stay with the CM10.0.0 Stable version. It's great and the only issues are no bass when streaming music through bluetooth and the very rare random reboot.
After reading some of your replies I am tempted to give AOKP a second try. Is there a version of AOKP comparable to CM10.0.0 "Stable" that I should flash? Or just the latest version?
